If you’re looking for a lightweight, utilitarian laptop with well above average battery life, the Dell Latitude 7320 is a great choice. It’s no slouch in processing power either, being capable of 3 GHz with a top-of-the-line Intel Core i7 CPU with Intel vPro platform support. The vPro platform is an exceptional feature particularly for medium-sized business to enterprise, allowing IT admins to assist users with setup and troubleshooting remotely.

A nice bonus feature of the Latitude 7320 is the HDMI 2.0 port. In a world of continually decreasing ports, it is refreshing for a modern laptop to have the convenience to connect directly to an external display if need be. In fact, the 7320 has an abundance of handy ports: a Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery, USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1 with Powershare, SD 4.0 Memory Card Reader and headphone jack are all included. The 7320 also comes equipped with a standard 720p webcam with a privacy slider.

Just about any task outside intense creative video/audio editing or gaming, this PC can zip through. If you need a machine to handle the GPU-intensive applications, you may want to investigate the Dell Precision mobile workstations have more powerful GPUs and more SSD storage for big media files.

It’s also available in both the typical clamshell laptop design and 2-in-1 convertible design if you’d like the ability to use it as a tablet. Additionally, the 7420 line is offered with either a black carbon fiber or silver aluminum chassis, with the aluminum chassis adding about 0.2 lbs to the weight of the device. This description pertains to the Latitude 7420 with a Core i5, 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM.

If you’re a design professional looking to do design or CAD in 2D or 3D (depending on intensity), the Precision 5560 should be your go-to mobile workstation.

The 5560 is a particularly strong choice if you’re looking for a balance between power and portability. Relative to other mobile workstations in its class, the 5560 is very light at only a hair over 4 lbs. It also carries a strong yet power efficient NVIDIA RTX A2000 pro graphics card for workstations, which is built with the GA106 GPU used to power its desktop equivalents, the RTX 3050 and RTX 3060. This machine is made to run software like Autodesk AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite without a hitch.

You’ll find three USB-C ports total on the 5560, one of which is a USB-C 3.2 and the other two being Thunderbolt 4. The 5560 also features an SD card slot and audio jack. Conveniently, the Precision 5560 workstation comes with a USB-C dongle with both a USB-A port and standard HDMI output.

Also of note with the Dell Precision 5560 is the 16:10 aspect ratio of the widescreen ultra-extended graphics array (WUXGA) display, which gives you slightly more vertical real estate on your screen so you scroll less and see more. Typical 16:9, full HD displays have 1920 x 1080 px resolution whereas WUXGA displays have 1920 x 1200 px.

  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX A2000
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

  • Display: 15.6” IPS LED
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 SDRAM
  • Weight: 4.06 lbs
  • Battery life: Up to 6 hours

Like the Latitude 7240, the Precision 7560 comes in a wide variety of configurations, with this configuration sitting about at mid-range in terms of CPU and GPU power. It can even fit up to three M.2 2280 SSD NVMe hard drives of 4 TB each and up to 128 GB of RAM for those in need of serious storage.

Ready to handle the most intense computing tasks such as AR/VR, 3D rendering, simulation and the most taxing independent software vendor (ISV) apps, there isn’t much you can’t do with the 7560. There also isn’t much you can’t connect—ports include two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, two USB 3.2 Type-A, an SD card slot, an audio jack, ethernet and security lock slot. Additionally, the unit has both an HDMI 2.1 and mini DisplayPort 1.4 outputs.

The screen is nice and bright at 500 nits and true color accuracy with 100% Adobe RGB color coverage and thin side bezels. There is an optional 1080p touch screen version of the device as well. Other notable options include a face recognition webcam, fingerprint reader and Qualcomm 5G mobile broadband.

This Dell Precision 7560 variant is almost identical to the last one listed, except with a slightly less powerful GPU and lower cost as a result. Notebookcheck.net gets into the nitty gritty comparing the NVIDIA RTX A2000 vs. NVIDIA T1200 if you’re curious what exactly the difference will be. Basically, the RTX A2000 uses more power and is built on a different chip, has more cores and a higher base clock speed. Both have GDDR6 memory and the A2000 has slightly higher memory bandwidth.

To note, while the battery life of the Precision 7560 isn’t as high as lower powered models, Dell does offer built in battery power management software known as Dell Power Manager. This helps you track your battery life in detail and battery health. If you’re interested in system analytics, Dell also offers Dell Optimizer, software you can use to optimize applications, audio, network connections and the device’s proximity sensor.

While Dell devices all hold up well, not all are made intentionally to endure the slings and arrows of construction sites, warehouses or heavy industrial settings, for instance. That’s where the Dell Latitude 7220 tablet comes in.

The Latitude 7220 is a veritable tank of a device built to withstand drops, dings, splashes and temperature extremes (-20 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit) no ordinary device could endure. The only instances that may destroy the Dell Latitude 7220 is full submersion in water or drops over 3-4 feet.

For a display, you get a full HD LCD touchscreen with a 1000-nit brightness, Gorilla-Glass screen great for working outdoors. The front-facing camera is 5 MP with facial recognition login ability and an 8 MP rear-facing camera, too. While not technically a laptop, you can purchase a full-size detachable keyboard with a kickstand to complement the Latitude 7220 and use it as such if you desire.

This model has upgraded storage and RAM from the base model. You can get storage of up to 2TB and a quad-core Intel Core i7-8665U CPU at an additional cost.

Quick Tech Specs
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 8365U / 1.6 GHz base
  • Graphics: UHD
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • Storage: 256 GB SSD NVMe
  • Display: 11.6” LCD Touchscreen
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Weight: 2.89 lbs
  • Battery life: Up to 17 hours

This configuration of the Dell Latitude 7420 has a few advantages over the Latitude 7420 variation we previously covered. You get a slightly upgraded Intel Core i5 processor with 0.2 GHz added base speed, plus double the RAM. Not sure what’s so great about additional RAM or CPU? Check out our article which covers the basics of RAM and CPU, how they compare, and if 16 GB or 8 GB RAM is good enough for what you’re trying to accomplish.

Basically, more RAM helps you access files faster and run more programs smoothly at the same time. A faster CPU means more efficient data processing, which is particularly important for complex and data-intensive programs like giant Excel spreadsheets, Matlab or compiling-related tasks. If you plan on using your PC for web browsing, email and streaming, you may want to consider the lesser-powered Latitude 7420 to save a few bucks.

  • Processor: Core i5 1145G7 / 2.6 GHz base
  • Graphics: Iris Xe Graphics
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (includes Windows 11 Pro license)
  • Storage: 256 GB SSD NVMe
  • Display: 14” LCD
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)
  • RAM: 16 GB RAM
  • Weight: 2.69 lbs
  • Battery life: Up to 16 hours

The Latitude 9420 is available as both a traditional clamshell design and a 2-in-1 convertible with a touchscreen that can be rotated 360 degrees. The 2-in-1 variation weighs about 3.1 lbs (with a slightly smaller 40-watt hour battery) and the clamshell weights 2.8lbs, both making for easy toting.

For this series, features range from the latest 11th Generation Intel Core i5-11357G7 processor, 16 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD NVMe with a 1920 x 1080 conventional LED screen (non-touch) to a Core i7-1185G7 CPU, a 512 GB SSD and a quad high definition (QHD) touchscreen display. This model falls in between with upgraded storage, CPU and the QHD touchscreen.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with QHD technology, it has 4x the resolution of a 720p screen and is capable of sharper images than standard Full HD (1920 x 1080px) displays but less than 4K displays (3840 x 2160px). Additionally, the QHD screen of the Latitude 9420 features as 16:10 aspect ratio, meaning the screen is also a bit taller than typical Full HD laptops, so you scroll less and see more.

This model features the upgraded 60-watt hour battery which provides as many as 18 hours of battery life. It is contained behind 8 screws behind the Latitude 9420’s bottom cover, as well as the SSD, making it easily configurable for IT teams.

You get a smorgasbord of ports with the 9420, including HDMI 2.0, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support, a microSD card reader and audio jack. For support of older PC accessories, the right side of the Latitude 9420 has a USB 3.2 Type-A connector.

Quick Tech Specs

  • Display: 14" LED touchscreen
  • Resolution: 2560 x 1600 (QHD+)
  • RAM: 16 GB RAM
  • Weight: 3.09 lbs
  • Battery life: Up to 18 hours

As alluded to previously, the 9420 has a spectrum of variations available. This configuration has a stronger Core i7 1185G7 CPU, twice the SSD storage and the lower resolution display without touch capability. This would perhaps be the better purchase for those less concerned with how crisp and true the display’s colors are and more concerned with how quickly it can crunch through tasks and store more files without an external hard drive or the need for cloud storage.

Also recall that the non-2-in-1 version is slightly lighter at a mere 2.8lbs, so you also benefit with the slimmer Latitude 9420 here. Whichever you choose, you’ve getting a very capable laptop that runs with the best laptops for enterprises.

Lastly we have another configuration of the Dell Latitude 9420, with the only difference from the first one we listed being the lack of QHD touchscreen and lower resolution.

Enterprise users (and their IT teams) can benefit from Intel’s vPro platform, which features hardware perks embedded in the Latitude 9420 such as remote device management, Wi-Fi 6 and extended battery life. The hardware-enhanced security features of devices with the Intel vPro platform helps IT teams prevent, protect against and remediate cyberattacks as well as lower overall support costs.
