Product Reviews
TP-LINK TL-PS310U - print server is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I do not recommend this device. I tried to configure a printer connected to this device for several hours. As IT technician with 10 years experience in maintaining Widows environemnts by the biggest companies on this planet, I was completety lost with this device. 1. I assigned the static IP from my subnet to the device. 2. I connected the printer (compatible) 3. Tried to query the device in LAN - not found. However the "printi server" itself was responding on ping 4. Created a Port and tried to manually assign the printing queue from Windows settings - no luck 5. Only when the weird manuafacturer`s software is installed on host connecting to "print server", communication works fine, so I have to launch it whenever OS is loading. BTW. You cannot disable the splash screen of the app, so I see it whenever I boot up my PC or laptop. What a fail ...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's not working at all I bought this device to connect a remote USB printer to a server and then share that printer from the server. The USB printer is a Ricoh Aficio MP 1600L which is on the compatibility list and that was the main reason i picked this device instead of something else. Although i install the utility software to the server, i'm unable to print directly form the server either as a USB printer or using an IP connection (either RAW or LPR/port). This device is totally useless and i'm really sorry i bought it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT a print server! Let me be completely clear here. THIS IS NOT A PRINT SERVER!! This is a network USB sharing device. Being a network engineer by trade [for 20+ years now] I set up the IP address on this, and created a port, assigned a driver and sent raw print data to this on port 9100. Like print servers have been set up since the dawn of networking. This thing will not print like this! This device REQUIRES the utility that comes with it to be installed. You then select the device and "request connection". The device will then connect what ever is plugged into the USB port to your computer over the network. You will then need to manually specify a driver for whatever it is that you have plugged in. Just like a real print server would require, and as described above. This device is the network/software equivalent of unplugging a USB cable from 1 machine and plugging it into another machine and then unplugging when done. That is all this thing does. While this may be handy for some people it's worthless to many like myself as I need to print from Windows, Mac, Linux, CentOS, etc... The utility that manages the networked USB connection is only for Windows. I really do not recommend this item primarily because only 1 person can use the device at a time, and if someone else is connected and does not disconnect you can request that they disconnect but if they're not sitting right there to click disconnect it does not time out and just hangs forever until a person actually goes over to the machine and clicks the disconnect button in the software.
