One of the first complete wireless LAN (WLAN) developed specifically for the needs and budgets of small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and hotzone operators. Redundant and secure, the ZoneDirector 1100 gives them the same enterprise features as the ZoneDirector 3000. It's perfect for operators who want to offer business class hot spot services such as voice over Wi-Fi, IP-based video, secure enterprise access and tiered Wi-Fi services in venues such as hotels, airports, schools and public buildings. Easily deployed, centrally managed, and automatically tuned, ZoneDirector 1100 is ideal for small businesses that require a robust and secure WLAN.

The ZoneDirector 1100 integrates the Ruckus Smart/OS application engine that delivers advanced features such as smart wireless meshing, high availability, hot spot authentication, elegant guest networking and dynamic Wi-Fi security. It can be deployed and operated by non-wireless experts and installed quickly and easily through a point-and-click web-based wizard. Any organization with limited IT staff and budget can create a robust and secure multimedia WLAN in a matter of minutes.

Product Reviews
Ruckus ZoneDirector 1100 - upgrade license is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works alright, gets the job done. The only problem is that it is old now and does not get new firmware updates, so no new features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The ZoneDirector is great for managing the Ruckus devices on the network. The only problem I have with the Ruckus equipment is the cost of the equipment. The performance is great and works really well with high density areas. I would recommend this only in the right environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the controller we are using to control 12 access points across 5 different physical locations. Works very, well it is easy to make changes to the wireless environment and deploy every where or just in specific points.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It as incredibly easy to set up. Currently manage about 15 APs with it and have had no problems. WLANs are easy to set up and configure. You can group APs and have them only broadcast the WLANs that you want. Has VLAN access, so you can configure your WLANs even more. So far, I have not had any problems with this device, although I've only had it for about 5 months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to setup, easier to manage, and performance is amazing (using the 7982 AP's) . We develop some wireless products so I needed a platform that works well with high interference. Our old Aruba 800 just couldn't cut it even with newer AP's deployed. Ruckus has absolutely no problems working through the interference with their beamforming technology. I found the setup to be far easier and cleaner than Aruba's controllers. Also, the range of it works so well that we had to set the clients roaming aggressiveness to medium-high because they receive such a strong signal they sometimes refuse to roam to closer AP's.The only issues I've encountered is upgrading to newer firmware. It has never worked on the first try (always have to pull the power and start over). Seems to be a recurring problem on this controller model. If they get this fixed, I would easily give it 5 stars.
