Surface Book transforms into three different configurations, adapting to the way that you work and the places where you create. Surface Book is a powerful laptop with a full sized, backlit keyboard for fast and natural typing.

The 13.5" PixelSense display detaches easily from the keyboard to become a thin, light tablet that works perfectly with OneNote and Surface Pen. Turn the screen around and reattach it to use Surface Book like a creative canvas. By reconnecting it to the keyboard, you unlock its full creative power in a pen first mode.

Use the multi-touch PixelSense screen and Surface Pen to create with all the desktop software you already use, like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Surface Book is the creative professional's laptop, designed to power through professional grade photo and video editing.

Product Reviews
Microsoft Surface Book - 13.5" - Core i5 6300U - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD - En is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packed with the Latest and Greatest of Technology This is a loaner that a friend of mine is letting me use until he replaces the Ipad Pro top of the line wifi plus cellular 13.9" 256 gb machine that he accidently broke when an accident occurred he immediately offered me the Microsoft Surface Pro to use in place of my long loved Ipad pro experience. I was not expecting this to be better than my ipad pro that is for sure but I must say in my opinion it is in a lot of ways. I can only hope that my friend doesn't fix mine anytime soon or replace the ipad if he does I'm going to get this Microsoft Surface pro instead.I like it that much..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Slow and problems with screen. I had bought this two months ago and had to send it back a week and a half later. I really enjoyed using it. the display was amazing and the pen tablet mode was well thought out. The only problems were that it ran extremely slow and when I was typing an assignment for school the screen developed a line across it that wouldn't go away. I was not happy to have to send it back as it caused problems for completing school and work but if I am going to spend more money for a higher quality device then I expect a higher quality device. I need something that is reliable for school and work that won't break the first week of purchase. This was obviously not a computer for that. I would say you could purchase it if you didn't have to rely on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible to install Office 2016. I have attempted to install a full version of Office 2016 on this thing multiple times. Failed each time. I have done a factory reset at least three times. and still have had no luck. I can not find any help on the Microsoft website regarding this issue. This is beginning to look like a complete waist of money. I suppose I was supposed to subscribe to the rental software Office 365, but after a years rental I would have paid as much as I paid for the licensed version I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought the Surface 4 Pro and love it. The Surface 4 Pro replaced my Ipad 2. It turned out to be fantastic. I put Photoshop and Indesign on it. And I can do all I do with my Dell M3800. It' very powerful. It fits in my "urban" back pack. It powers up fast, and is relatively light. I'm not the biggest fan of Windows10 Pro. It's expensive. I had to waste otherwise billable hours on learning about it and disabling many of the intrusive features. Windows 7 Pro was much better. Less intrusive. But 10 like 7 is very stable and fast. I'm considering adding the Surface Book but it doesn't seem to have a good configuration for me. I need only 128 GB SSD or max 256GB and at least 16 GB RAMI don't need a big hard drive because I always work with an external hard drive for all my files.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best PC I've ever owned Bought a Surface Book in mid 2016 (Core i7, dGPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) and all I can say is "WOW!" I have two other PC's with similar hardware config's (an older, Core i3,16 GB DDR3, 2TB HDD & a 2-in-1 with a 7th gen Core i5, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB HHD + a few older machines still in use) and this Surface Book just blows all of them out of the water, in all respects. I can be from 100% cold, to boot, to running in about 5-6 seconds (on average) using Win10's "Hello" login feature. The ability to detach the touchscreen to use it either as a tablet (with a 2 batteries- 1 in the screen & 1 in the base) or in an easel configuration makes this computer perfect both for all my business needs & also perfect for all the personal uses I can think up for it- even the dual cameras are of a high caliber, and I use them to snap quick pics in tablet mode. The dGPU is amazing, bringing a new level of capability to programs such as Adobe Photoshop CC/Illustrator CC & it provides for just stunning HD media displays. On average, I run at least 6 high-load programs concurrently without having any lag or performance issues- integration with Office 365 or other Microsoft/Microsoft Store Programs remain essentially seamless. While I've read that others have experienced screen flickering or other screen-detachment issues, I have rarely encountered anything substantial in terms of any type of errors- I've had to do a hard reset maybe 4 times since I unpacked it from the box & since an OS/Firmware update around the start of 2017, I've had no issues whatsoever. Unlike my other machines, which work great until I start loading them with programs & media which generally slow them down to a large degree, this Surface Book works like a brand new computer with every boot/login, regardless of what new business software or personal files I've loaded to it- additionally, as a "Signature Edition" PC bought directly from M-soft, there are no added "bloatware" apps or trial programs to contend with. The optional Surface Dock expands upon an already ample input suite on the machine, but the crowning achievement is the HD touchscreen with Surface Pen input- from doodles or note taking, to detailed graphic design use, The Surface Pen is not merely a stylus, but an "electronic multi-tool" which has dramatically changed for the better how I interact with my Surface Book over my other touchscreen PC. While a pricey investment to be sure, in my eyes, this Surface Book with the setup/hardware I'd described, was totally worth every penny spent- I have never owned a better PC & I have owned tons of them. In their flagship Surface Book, Microsoft has crafted the indisputable "king" of Win10 computers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Sure How Long it Will Last; Love it For Now! I've had my i5 Surface Book for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it, despite it's somewhat erratic behavior. I run many engineering programs natively (AutoCAD LT, Revit, MatLab, Project) without issue, and the detachable screen and stellar stylus are amazing for quick trips out into the field with a set of digital plans. I traded in my MacBook Pro for this, and am more-or-less happy that I did it. I would rate the "build quality" of my MacBook to be higher, but the overall user experience of my Surface Book is definitely superior. I do have issues with the screen randomly detaching itself, as well as with the keyboard and trackpad freezing up from time to time, which make me worry about longevity a little bit, but I would still consider buying another one if I were in the market for a new computer.Microsoft Team - Fine tune the glitchy hardware, and you will easily have the ultimate engineering laptop!!
