The Barracuda Web Filter 310 is an integrated content filtering, application blocking and malware protection solution that is powerful, easy to use and affordable for businesses of all sizes. It enforces Internet usage policies by blocking access to Web sites and Internet applications that are not related to business, and it easily and completely eliminates spyware and other forms of malware from your organization. No more productivity loss trying to repair computers or make computers usable again.

The Barracuda Web Filter enables you to set up custom policies for a particular user and groups across customizable time ranges by integrating with popular LDAP directory servers, such as Microsoft Active Directory. For organizations that do not utilize directory servers, policies can be defined for unauthenticated users as a whole, locally defined users and groups, or network IP address ranges.

With no client software to install and no modifications required to your network, the Barracuda Web Filter is easy to deploy. It has an intuitive user interface for maintenance and monitoring, making it a virtually maintenance-free solution.

Product Reviews
Barracuda Web Security Gateway 310 - security appliance is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I worked for a local county's IT department prior to this job and we used this there. It was great, a lot of options for filtering, we used an option where people had to log in every 24 hours as it served as a reminder that "you're going out onto the internet, remember the agreements you have signed". It never failed us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unit is working great, and helping keep the network safe. The only issue we had was the unit initially not being configured right to work in a Xenapp environment. Once I set it up in a hybrid authentication mode, it has been smooth sailing. Their tech support was very helpful with any questions I had!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend Barracuda web filters. To many sites are uncategorized, constantly having to maintain white list. Can't allow uncategorized sites because anonymous proxies are often uncategorized in Barracuda web filter but identified by OpenDNS. Looking at moving to OpenDNS Umbrella.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In my opinion, this is the easiest solution to deploy. I've installed three of these units for a couple of clients and they just work. Very little configuration needed and you can literally just drop this into your network between your firewall and ISP equipment. Two cables, that's it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We have had this for 3 years. With one lab of 30 computers and 20 teachers classroom (elementary who really never use it except email) it worked fine. When we added 30 chromebooks and 60 ipad mini's and a great Ruckus wireless system it couldn't handle the additional computers setup with more than one subnet of 255. We needed three as we ran out of ips in the subnet 255.255.255.0. We expanded to 3 (192.168.1, 192.168.2, 192.168.3 ) and it just got very confused. Nothing in docs gave us any reason why it should work and no help online. So on our 150 mbps download speed, we have dropped to 2-3 mbps although upload speed is still fine at 70 mbps. So the Barracuda 310 is really either a trade in or replace at this point.John Fox

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We have this in place now. Works well. I would give it 5 stars but the interface is too freaking slow. It works great though.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from We have been using the Barracuda Web Filter now for about a year and lately it has become more and more a problem for us. I think most Administrators would agree that if you Whitelist or Blacklist a site you would want that to take precedence over everything else. In actuality, it is one of the lowest priorities in the web filter. Content filters and exceptions are higher. Therefore, like for our company, our corporate websites were whitelisted under URL Patterns and Domains and neither would allow traffic to pass because a web category for commerce was in the exception list so it blocked it. Worse, the troubleshooting section showed it would pass. Can't say that I would recommend Firmware Version 8.0.0.003 at this time. Perhaps if they fix it.
