Product Reviews
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gaming laptop for the business user Solid laptop for the price. The ASUS drivers are a pain in the rear to download from their site, and the nVidia graphics, while spectacular, don't play well with the current standard software sets. The laptop does a great job staying cool under pressure, but the power cable design leave room for improvement. HDMI out only. Would be nicer if the USB C was a thunderbolt compatible unit. February 11, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pros and Cons First the pros... The laptop is fast due to i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and SSD drive. The additional spindle data drive is nice for storage. I needed a machine that would run VMs well. This machines seems to do the job. The antiglare screen is nice and gets quite bright. I have not had a chance to try it direct sunlight yet. I like the gestures that are available using the touchpad. They work pretty well for the most part. The numeric keypad is nice if you do much data entry. Sounds quality of the built in speakers is adequate. Now the cons... The materials of the construction I feel could be better. Asus says that you can get the grey metal chassis (which they also say is optional.) I'm pretty sure this model has it, but the only part that I see is metal is the back of the display. The rest is plastic. That would be ok, but the plastic is very prone to fingerprint and skin oils. The rubber feet on the bottom of the laptop leave marks on my desk at work. They wipe off fine using a wet rage, but still I feel this shouldn't happen. The battery life is not great, but I suppose as this is marketed as a gaming laptop is it tuned for performance rather than battery life. The touchpad works well for the most part, but as the buttons are part of the touchpad, I accidentally right click sometimes when I'm just trying to do a regular click. It would make more sense to me if the button area didn't also track the mouse arrow. I've had Windows encounter an error once so far. That may just be Windows, so I don't know if it's hardware or software related at this point. January 14, 2016
