Snug, secure fit
Speck products last and hug the computer. The fit of the shell on the computer is good. Shell is very light weight.

Good with some flaws
The fit is a 4/5, the left rear corner of the bottom piece does not click into place but is not loose enough to catch on objects like clothing. The finish is a 3/5, it is nice and opaque but not matte enough to stop it from being a fingerprint magnet. Bonus points for the quality of the plastic and the light weight. Should protect from scratches but not extreme drops.

One side doesn't fit
Too thick and doesn't fit well. One of the back corners doesn't fit and clip in so it's coming off. Not sure if it's defective or if they're all like that. Speck doesn't seem to have any sort of expended holiday returns so I'm stuck with it. Makes the computer feel noticeably heavier. On the plus side the clear frosted plastic looks nice.

Looks great and could be great... except...
The back clips on the body (near magsafe and hdmi ports) do not fully snap into place like the other ones. I returned one, but the replacement has the same issue. If Speck can figure this out, this will be great. Until then I can't give it more than 1 star.

Purchased a 2012 Speck shell case on my 2012 MacBookPro, and it lasted 10 years. I figure that's good enough for me and I just got the updated version for my 2021 M1 MacBookPro

Quality product
I tried some other brands that looked more aesthetic but the product was fragile. It looked good but it was not durable. Speck is high quality durable product. It fits perfectly and offers the protection your investment deserves.

Too slippery
I wanted to like it. But it had no tactile characteristics at all. Although it may provide good protection from a drop, I would constantly be dropping it because the case was so slippery.

Although this product has a great design and high quality curb appeal it's fit is terrible to a point it's unusable as the base dose not snap into place and falls off with no effort. I will be returning it for a refund.

Keep the receipt and box to return
The case fit my MacBook Pro, but when it came it, it was not fitted properly. One of the hinges that the cases uses to secure into the MacBook did not work or was bent in a way that it was not staying secure on the laptop. I cannot return it since my wife threw away the return slip and box.

I would not buy this case
I returned this case. It was very disappointing. The top fit fine. The back would not snap in back. I tried several times. I sent it back for a return. It also left smudge prints. Going with the new Incase instead.

Poor fitment
The bottom protective piece does not fit very well, the tab holding it in place routinely falls off. Top portion fits well. No other real alternatives for this case so will keep it for now.

Doesn't fit.
The rear clips on the bottom half of the shell (nearest the screen) don't fit over the top edge of the computer so the lower shell falls off.

Nice color, ok product
I feel like the edges are rough against my arm and one clip doesn't hold on to the computer. When I contacted the company about it they make it hard to get a replacement. I'm debating just getting a refund because who knows if the replacement will hold the bottom corner any better.

Case does not clip.
The bottom corner of the case would not clip on to my brand new computer. Speck sent another and told me they would not need the first (defective) one back. So I tossed it.
The second one has the SAME defect, and I now have no recourse because I don't have both defective cases to send back.
Do not buy. Do literally anything else.

GARBAGE! DO NOT BUY!
I bought this case from past great experience with Speck. The case did not fit. I was offered a free replacement which also did not fit. Neither transaction was avail on the color I wanted anyway.
It would be nice if Speck would listen to the customer and fix their issues instead of continuing to pump out bad product.

Smartcase for M1 Macbook pro 16" (2022) does not fit
I have owned the same case for every model of Mac for the past 10+ years. Sadly, the smart case for M1 MacBook Pro 2022 does not fit as detailed by others' pictures. Time to switch :-(

Giving up,

Poor fit on MacBook Pro 16" (2023)
The rear corners of the bottom shell did not stay latched on. The shell seemed to latch on the sides and front OK.
After notifying Speck of the problem, they sent a second SmartShell at no cost, but it had the same problem at the rear corners of the lower shell, and the sides were less secure than the first shell I received.
I am returning both shells for a refund.
