Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colors love the nexgen features The main reason I bought this TV was the size and that it fit on a bedroom dresser but also that it has next-gen TV which is what I use with an antenna I am very pleased and happy with the TV has the colors are beautiful the features are very nice as many apps to choose from the only con is that the remote does not have direct tune channel access

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slow to turn on? When the tv turns on it works well. Turning tv on, even withn the power button on the physical tv doesn't turn the tv on every time. Pressing power button and indicator light comes on and then goes off? Then pressing power again and slowly the google emblem comes up. Eventially it boots into the app screen. Reseting the tv has no effect. Reading online, this seams to be a problem with Sony TVs. When it works, it has great colors and a great picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase I purchased a Sony TV for the first time. This is after both my 55" Vizio and JVC died with in two years. I am so glad I spent the extra money to upgrade to a Sony. I have better more vivid color, outstanding sound with out a sound bar. The set up was easy and it is one of the best purchases I have made. I will purchase nothing but a Sony from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Somewhat disappointed Bought from John Lewis, website indicated that legs could be set in two width positions, this is not the case therefore does not fit onto our current TV table, so having to purchase a new stand. TV itself is usual Sony good quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV Great TV for games and TV viewing. One thing I can’t figure out is whether the 4k upscaling is exceptional or the true 4k is mediocre. I find it hard to tell the difference to be honest. The TV is very slick and it seems to work well with the eArk connection to my Yamaha receiver.

I am using an over the air antenna and performance is not lacking. For a $650 unit you get a lot of features for the buck. I recommend you give it a go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear picture, great color I received this TV on 10/13/22 as a replacement for the one I purchased in Feb 2022. The first TV worked great for 7 months then it developed a white line straight across the screen about 8 inches from the top. After running some tests with the Sony customer service rep. and sending some pictures, I received my new TV. The Sony Concierge simplified and helped me through the process. This TV has a great picture, clear with beautiful color. It was easy to set up and use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NEW 50" SONY My first smart TV. Believe it is smarter than I. Have not tried the "streaming" channels yet, just staying with cable!! Wife's request. Picture quality is excellent. Sound is good, but not real sure about the speakers in the bottom. My other one had the speakers coming out from the front and seemed better. But should get used to that difference. Price was fair and set up was much easier than I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not sure if this is better than the 85J I received my KD-50X85K as a replacement for the 85J of which two failed in 13 months. Once I set up this second replacement, I could see that there were two small dead spots on the screen. Since those spots were hard to discern with the TV on, I decided to live with it. The last thing I wanted was to go through the process of getting another replacement.

I would have preferred to reuse my wall mount from the last tv but couldn't due to the shape of the back which is a minor quibble. Easy to set up and a good value.

It may be a bit more than other brands but I’m a firm believer of you get what you pay for. I have another Sony TV which I’ve had for about 12 years now and it’s still going strong, I just wanted a little something more modern but I will probably use my old TV in the kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Big Disappointment My main complaint about this model is the EPG, which is dreadful in both design and function. The shortcomings are too numerous and arcane to list, but I will mention the lack of a program synopsis box at the head of the EPG: an unforgivable omission. My last TV was a Sony 50W829B and this had an excellent EPG. In short all the changes (and there are many) from that TV to this one are detrimental. I realise I’m old and even among my contemporaries my surfing habits are probably in a minority. And I know younger users want to stream, be they games, fake You Tube news or endless box-sets from subscription channels. But that is really no reason to have such an appalling EPG for those like me who want to surf the free-to-air channels and pick a program to view. Given that the most other manufactures' EPGs are not much better (some I’m sure are worse) and the fact that the picture and other features of the set are fine, it might seem that a score of 1 star is niggardly, however... I have had a 32" Sony since 2005 and it is still going strong. My 50W829B worked hard for 8 years with no problems before it expired. This one did not last 6 months before requiring a new main circuit board; bad enough you might think, but compounded by the hoops I had to jump through to get it fixed. Two calls to the retailer (at least they were freephone) who IMO should have taken responsibility for fixing the TV at this stage. Then followed calls to Sony and the agents appointed by Sony to carry out the repair - 11 days later. Add to that a webform and numerous emails to and from Sony and the local Sony Centre. The whole procedure was stressful and not the sort of service I expected from Sony. I'm also very disappointed with the retailer - from whom I shall not purchase another TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 50” Sony tv I bought this 50” Sony tv middle of February. It replaced an older Samsung tv. I’ve had tv for several weeks now. The picture quality is very good. The sound is also good, considering it’s just from the tv speakers. I’ve read reviews about sound being tinny, but it isn’t. Ok it’s not home theatre system or sound bar, it’s not that bad in my opinion, got reasonable good bass. You can tweak it and the same goes for picture to your liking. The menus are fairly easy to operate. I wanted the oled, but couldn’t justify the extra money. I would recommend this telly.

Unfortunately it has a very narrow viewing angle and the picture goes grey when looking from the side. Looking directly in front of the screen the picture is perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of use I have bought Sony products before and indeed two of my Sony TVs are now in my sons flat working well after about 10 to 15 years use already. The only critism is that I cannot download the CNN app on to my new Sony TV. Also there are various methods of setting up the channel guide which appear complicated! O.K, wife and I are oldies (74) but I feel that the software engineers add too much complexity to operation of the tv. Apart from that a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic picture and sound Have had this tv for two weeks so feel able to give a balanced review of its features. Firstly it was very easy to set up with guided steps through the process it took about twenty minutes to be up and working. The sound quality is excellent and this is something you cannot test in a store location so I was very pleased with that, a friend turned up recently and asked if we had a sound bar as he thought the sound was so good. Picture quality is very good from whatever angle the screen is watched and HD is even better. Haven’t got Ultra HD so cannot comment on that. Overall I am extremely pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend the TV

Love the quality and picture Tv comes with screw conversion sizes so can attach to wall bracket - I didn’t need to buy the £10 pack of screws from Amazon nor buy the specialist Sony TV bracket for £250

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as usual! After the horrible experience with S**s**g TV (last only one year and very bad warranty service). Finally go bad to Sony. Of course slightly paid a little more but you won’t regret for it. Bought my X85K for a month now, no matter the color or the picture quality are great except it don’t have recorded function. Anyway enjoy it so much, especially the built in speakers. You definitely don’t need a extra add on speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A disappointment Amazingly the BBC text service, funded by the license fee which I pay and very useful for deaf people like me is not supported, though, to add insult to injury, the remote still has a text key. The picture quality in 4K is superb, thank you BBC iPlayer, but in HD in low-light scenes can be absolutely abysmal with dancing blue dots, pulsing colours etc. This may, I suppose be a matter of adjustment but I have been unable to resolve it. A shame. Sony really should address the text issue and do a software update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Picture! Factory settings are slightly too intense but simply dropping brightness and colour gives a picture that is hard to imagine could be any better. Internet, Apps and streaming work fine even on my very poor broadband. Only negative spotted so far is extremely awkward channel editing on-set and using the Sony Channel Editor to delete and reorder left the set unable to pick up any channels, requiring a rescan. Guess I live with an unsorted list but this is slightly less of a problem thanks to the excellent speech recognition. Very pleased overal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, But Not OLED or MINI-LED This is a good TV, but it's not going to be an OLED or Mini-LED experience. This is a budget Sony TV, in my opinion, which is why I bought it. The remote control is too small and not backlit, which is a problem for me. I continuously hit the wrong buttons. However, the user interface is simple to operate. Google TV is great. You must be directly in front of this TV for the best viewing experience. Side-angle viewing makes it look washed out. There is no blooming for those of us who use Closed Captioning. For my first Smart 4k TV, I'm happy. However, if you can afford OLED or Mini-LED, you must choose one of those options for the best viewing experience.

The set up and remote were fairly easy and the tv died 5 days later. First the screen went black, then the red flashing light of doom came on. Sony is sending a replacement, so we'll see how that goes. So far, I regret this purchase.

The processor, speed, storage space, audio (stand), and picture quality are all premium. I really like he remote this TV includes as well.
