Solid Offering From Otterbox

The OtterBox symmetry meets all the desirable qualities I was looking for in a phone case for my iphone 12 i.e. solid protection with minimal bulk; an attractive
aesthetic form factor; very nice ergonomic feel in the hand with tapered top edge; good button function without the buttons protruding from the case.
Which contributes to the sleek look and feel of the case (a big consideration for me
It feels very solid and substantial. It feels like quality. The stippled polycarbonate bottom shell and synthetic rubber top trim provides a nice grip.
I read some reviews complaining the case was difficult to put on and take off. It's not difficult if you first insert the phone into the bottom
left corner of the case then push the phone under the left edge and top left corner; then push down around the the rest of the case to snap the phone into place.
It is snug the way it's supposed to be in order to protect the phone.
I feel secure that my phone will not pop out of the case if dropped. To remove the case start at the upper right corner where the case will bend
easier because of the design for the camera and peel it down the right side and slide the phone out.
I'm very happy with this case. After trying a number of other cases this one is the keeper. It has everything I wanted.
Over all an excellent case from OtterBox.

My iPhones only wear Otterbox cases
I bought the Earl Gray Symmetry case for my iPhone 12 Pro before I got my new phone so my phone would be protected as soon as it was unboxed. I bought the Cake Pop Pink for myself a Christmas present. Always buy 2 Symmetry cases for my new phones so I can switch them out. I have never had anything but Otterbox Cases on my iPhones. I feel like they are very well protected and when the directions are followed on putting the case on they are pretty easy to put on but the phone feels very snug in the case.

Great slim case
It’s a great case. Seems well made and fits well. I also bought a Tech21 Evo Check case and I prefer the symmetry. It’s more narrow and seems to protect the screen a little better. Qi charging works fine.
I do want to mention that on my case the volume buttons are hard to press but the power button is fine. I contacted support and they said to give it a week and if it doesn’t loosen up to reach out to them again. Just something to keep in mind.

The case is fine, and does the job as expected. However, I will be purchasing another case becuase the Otterbox is too slippery in my hand. I had a another case on my iPhone X and it was easier to hold onto due to the grips on the case.

The case is a little slick to hold. My biggest dislike is how hard it is to press the power button. I keep accidentally taking screen shots when I'm trying to turn the phone screen off.

Does not protect back of phone
My phone slipped off of my desk onto my hardwood floor and landed face down. This is a fall of about one meter. The screen is fine, but the entire back of the phone is shattered. It's covered by insurance, but I still owe a hefty deductable. And I will also need to buy a new case on top of it! Now I'm in the hole hundreds of dollars, I've used otterbox for years and nothing like this has happened before.

Not good for your phone at all
I love otter box but I am very sad to say that I do not like this case. One of my otter box cases cracked so I decided to use my warranty but the case I had unfortunately sold out. I then chose this case because it looked very similar, but I found out on my own that it protects my phone very differently. Within the first two days of using this case my phone slipped out of my hand at waist level, shattering the back of my phone. I am now back to using my old broken otter box case as I do not trust this case at all.

Broken Phone
I have been using this case for 9 months, my phone slipped out of my hands and landed face down. My screen doesn’t have a scratch but the entire back of my phone shattered. It wasn’t a far fall, and I’ve had great success with this brand for years. I would suggest a heavier duty case than this style though.

Shattered Back Glass
I have been using OtterBox products for as long as our family has had iPhones, but this particular model failed in a way I’ve never experienced before.
I’ve never had any major impacts or drops since my new device arrived in July. I took my phone out at a social event only to have a friend point out the back camera square of glass shattered. Startled, I removed the case to find the back glass was completely broken into small pieces.
The scary thing is that it was only due to daily use. Case was never removed since purchased, yet I now have broken the back glass, which I didn’t even know was possible.
Frequently the case corners would be popped off the sides and wouldn’t fully wrap around the phone when I pulled it out of my pocket after sitting in the car or the office. Also, I am out a hefty deductible on insurance for yet another replacement.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product or the similar Symmetry models.

Cracked screen after 2 weeks of use.
I purchased a new phone two weeks ago and placed a screen protector and this case on it immediately. The phone has not been dropped to any sufficient degree and there are no impact marks on the screen, yet my 2 week old phone screen is cracked. My last phone was 6 years old and never had a crack. Why bother if it won't protect?

I’ve had the Symmetry case for my last two iPhones and really liked them both. But this one feels different. The cutouts for the speakers and lightning port aren’t rounded, so they feel sharp. When I rest my pinky under the phone, it gets irritated quickly. Also, the volume and power buttons are a little difficult to press and don’t “click”. Lastly, the back of the case is very slick. I wish it had more grip to it.

The only case I will buy!
I wasn’t sure about the color but I like it very much I bought the rock candy which is a nice bright blue. I wish they had more color options but I’m happy with this one. I have an iPhone 12 pro and it fits great and is easy to use with all the buttons. I have a Zagg case friendly glass protector on my phone. This is what I had on my previous iPhone 6s. I have never received a broken glass for all the times it has been dropped with these two items. Can’t recommend Otterbox enough! Very nice products. I looked for a better price and seen things on eBay but was leery of a counterfeit product in order directly from Otterbox and just paid the price. I wish they weren’t so expensive but because of my past experience with the quality I dealt with it. Don’t hesitate by the best!

The case has a slim profile and looks good , however the case is slippery . Yesterday it slipped out of my pocket and hit the concrete, luckily I have screen and camera protectors so it protected them. Have a chip on my camera protector . Not pleased

I love the design and the simplicity of the case, but, the surface is very slippery thus easy drop. Which slightly defeats the purpose. It’s nice that it allows for wireless charging however it takes a while and the casing heats up in the process.

Sleek and Stylish, but not indestructable
I purchased the Earl Grey color, which I think goes really well with the graphite iPhone 12 Pro. I'm coming from a black OtterBox Commuter for an iPhone 6s. This Symmetry case is much sleeker and understated. The case has a very mature, modern feel that matches the premium, jewelry-like feeling of the iPhone. It's very light and durable.
I am a little worried about cracking the screen or lens area. The case doesn't protrude much higher than the camera lenses if at all so we'll have to see whether the case prevents any cracking. I will be purchasing a screen protector in addition to this case just to be safe. Overall, I'm generally happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a no-frills, minimalist case.

I bought this same case for an iPhone XS and just recently ran the phone over with a 5 ton fork lift. The phone cosmetically is perfectly fine. But the insides might’ve gotten a little flat. Needless to say I can still use Siri and make calls.

LOVE the color, but MagSafe is weak...
The colors are beautiful, but it's very difficult to get the Apple MagSafe Charger to stick to the phone with the case on. I had been told that it would work with MagSafe, and although it does work, it doesn't adhere well at all.

Cheap plastic constantly breaking
I’ve always had otterbox cases for my phones, and they’ve been durable and sturdy and outlasted the phones themselves, until this one. I ordered this case and the plastic along the bottom broke within 2 weeks of receiving it. It was under warranty but I still had to pay $8 for shipping for a new one that has also been completely falling apart within the past 6 months. I am not rough with my phone and yet somehow the plastic along the top and bottom continues to break and fall off and today I noticed the entire back of the case has a crack through it. Otterbox used to make long lasting, quality cases and now it is clearly just cheap plastic to make you spend more money having to replace it.

Good case, but a little tight.
The last Symmetry case I bought (for iPhone XS was great. I was able to feel the tactile feedback on the buttons, and the case could come off with only a little bit of force. This one requires quite a bit a force to remove, almost to the point where I'm scared I might start to bend the phone. The buttons to not allow for any tactile feedback which is an important function of buttons (I would have thought that was a given?). Anyways, its still protective, and provides good protection for the face and the camera. The material hasn't cheapened, which is common for many manufacturers now a days. My only gripe with the material would be that you are now able to feel the seams where the rubber/silicone material was melded together. The hard plastic still feels great, and is in fact bit more slippery, which I like. It keeps the phone from grabbing in the pocket. I still love the Symmetry line and have been an avid Otterbox advocate since 2009, but if the extreme tightness and lack of feedback on buttons continues on the next generation, I might switch to a new brand.

I've dropped my phone already using this case, and while it certainly protected the phone I find the buttons hard to use. You need to have your finger aligned juuuuust right to actually press the button through the case.

I love the Symmetry series, and I've had it with my past three iPhone models. The 12 seems like a different fit, with the case popping off at the top corner every couple of days for no reason. No drops, and I don't keep it in my pocket. It seems like there's not as high of an edge on the screen side of the phone, so I am a bit worried that it'll crack if I do drop it. Otterbox is still my go-to for phone cases, but this one seems a bit more lacking than the usual standard.

Very durable
I bought this product about a month ago and have found it protects from damage very well. Highly recommend this product. I’ve already dropped it multiple times and has kept everything well protected. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make the back side of the case less slick. It slides very easily off of surfaces.

Mag safe is not mag compatible.
I bought this because I love otter box protection. I’ve used otter box folio style for over 10 years but now the only have the fold over wallet look which I don’t like. So I bought apple folio and this case. While the folio stayed in place if the phone doesn’t move, it always dropped off if it moved. Even the slightest. It is passing through the magnet and that’s not strong enough. It needs a magnet in it. Needs less to say I ended up with apple case with the magnet in it so the folio is secure and no issues with it dropping off just picking it up.

Doesn't Fit Well
I purchased two new Otterbox cases for my iPhone 12. Both cases had to be returned because they were too tight, especially around the power button. The case would leave keep the power button engaged, leaving the phone inoperable. This was my experience with both the Symmetry and the Aneu cases.

I bout this when the iPhone 12 Pro came out. It fits fine but its rather slick especially the sides. I am concerned I may drop the phone. Its how the straight edges of the iPhone 12 are now and the cases lack of silicon on the sides in many places. The design needs an update.

I’ve always had otterbox symmetry cases for my phones and they have all been excellent at protecting them and this one is no exception! I do have two gripes with this case though. The case is very difficult to remove. But I assume that this is no different than any other case for the iPhone 12 Pro just due to the boxy design. The other is that the earl grey is just too green looking. I was hoping for it to be a more normal grey that would go with the Pacific Blue 12 Pro I have but it is not that. I think it would go well with the 11 Pro Midnight Green shade way more. But overall solid case!

I thought I was buying a clear symmetry case but what showed up has glitter all over it. Somehow I ordered the wrong thing. Not sure if when I navigated away from the clear case selections to the solid colors and back to the clears if the glitter one was selected but that is what I got. Since there is no phone support, the only option is to try to do a warranty but it kicks it back because I didnt buy a clear case. So, now I am stuck with a glittery case :(

Pretty good overall, but...
Everything about this case is great. Fits perfect, raised edge is not raised too high above the screen, but does protect the cameras well on the back.
My only negative feedback is that the bottom volume button does not feel as good as the top. As in I can’t tell if I’m actually punching the volume button on the phone or not.
Other than that one small detail I would have gave 5 stars, it’s great.

1st time user and not so happy
Bought mine here in the Philippines after I got my 12 pro. Around Feb. 2021. Was happy at first because of the nice design and I know that Otterbox is well known for its protection. But after a few months, not so much anymore. The rubber on the bottom and by the volume buttons has detached already from the plastic case and I’m not so happy with the grip, it slides easily from my hand. The plastic also cracked with just a minor fall. My wife also has the same for her 12 pro max but the back portion of hers cracked after falling once. I used an adhesive bond to stick the crack so it won’t continue and break in to pieces. It did protect our phones, but after a short usage and falling only once, the condition of our cases already looks like this.

Beautiful color but I wish it worked with MagSafe
I know there's a MagSafe version, but it doesn't come in this beautiful teal blue color. I love everything else about it: Thickness, weight, texture, tight fit around the phone, protection, not too bulky or weird little rubber flaps over the ports. It does charge via the MagSafe function, but it will not stick to my MagSafe car mount. That's my only complaint!

Symmetry Review
When I purchased my 12 pro, I purchased the Defender Otterbox. I hated it - too bulky to slip into a pocket; stupid little doors to get at the charger / headphone jacks or to turn off the switch for the sounds. I ordered the Symmetry and now everything is fine - just like what I was used to with the Otterbox on my old iPhone 7. Why Otterbox would even bother designing and selling the Defender is beyond me.
