This product was a little difficult to work with but I didn’t mind it just proved to me that my phone is super protected! I managed to pull a corner away from the plastic casing and once I done that it was easy to place back together. My only complaint is I loved when otter had built in screen protectors. Instead of having to buy separate other than that I REALLY hope there will be more colors available soon like a darker but brighter purple! Otterbox is THE ONLY CASE BRAND I’ve EVER USED & I’m CONFIDENT that my iPhone is WELL PROTECTED! I LOVE that I can see the color of my phone and still have a pretty purple border since it is my fav color.

I purchased a defender xt clear for the 14 pro max and I’ve ruined 6 screen protectors both plastic and glass installing the case I’m guessing a protector can not be used with this case?

They charge you outlandish prices for something that has a fake. Military drop test. Back of phone didn’t survive a maybe 3 ft drop. Garbage. Glad apple updated their apple care to unlimited claims.

Open Ocean MUCH Lighter than shown on site.
So I purchased the first Defender XT that was released and have used them ever since. They are hands down better than the original Defender and provide excellent protection. I don't care for how easy they get dirty or scratch in comparison to the original. That however is a necessary trade-off for MagSafe compatibility and use.
The one annoyance I had with the 12 and 13 line was the sharp cornered inserts on the sides. I'm thrilled to see those are gone.
However, the annoyance with the 14 Pro Max line is COLOR. The color selection got MUCH worse with the 14 Pro Max line. The color choices are weird to start with, especially the bright blue and pink. I was extremely sad to see Dark Mineral had been removed as an option for this years lineup.
To make that even worse though, I was torn between the Black/Clear and the Open Ocean. I finally decided on the Open Ocean based on the pictures from the Otterbox website. Upon getting it today, I'm extremely disappointed with Otterbox's advertising and website team. The case is EXTREMELY lighter in color than any of their images show. The back inner blue layer and the front "ring" is almost the color of the blue used by Apple for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It really looks like Otter was expecting that color to be available for the 14 Pro Max and made a case to match it. The outer portion and the sides are much dark, but still not the shade shown on the site. There is a major difference between the two colors unlike the subtle difference shown on the website.
Otterbox, you really need to retake the pictures for advertising and website listings, at least for the Open Ocean, and use proper lighting this time.

I believe OtterBox is one of the best phone cases made hands down. I have OtterBox cases for my last 8 phones I owed. The survived being ran over by a full size truck and dropped from 16 foot ladders. Note all I have bought was the defender series.

Mine has got to just have the worst magnet on the planet because this doesn’t work with any MagSafe accessories. Doesn’t even try to magnetize to my truck MagSafe mount. Angry I spent $70 on something that doesn’t work as advertised

Not a good protective case

Crap that works
I works, but it’s still crap. Too rounded and slips out of my hand, defeating the purpose of the more square edges of the phone. It’s more difficult than the last phone case design to install. Again, it’s crap, but it works.

This case did not hold up at all! It got dropped a couple times in a row and they whole back glass of my phone is smashed! nothing like spending good money on a case to go and spend $400 to get the back replaced on my phone!

Overall an excellent product
Without dropping it or giving it any physical shocks, I cannot be sure about its protective capability. Which is why I’m not ready to give a five star rating. I switched from an iPhone 6s to a XS Max to a 14 pro max, and I’ve had the black defender OtterBox case for all of them. This most recent one is the worst one so far. It’s incredibly difficult to install and remove, and worst of all it creaks on the sides because there’s plastic touching the phone sides. When I squeeze the phone even slightly, it creates and annoying creak. I’ve tried to contact otterbox to get a replacement, but their customer support says they’re busy.

I bought a defender pro XT for my iPhone 14 Pro a while back and I never got around to using it until now. As a person with a disability I do not like the difficulty in assembling this product over the phone. I mean the physical device it took me literally Three hours to get it on I do not recommend this product for people with disabilities Never taking this case off my phone

One of the best durable case! (In my opinion)
So I purchased the defender pro xt for my 14 pro max. And have had it on my phone for over a month now and yes I do have a screen protector lol. During that month I haven’t been easy on it. I’ve shut it between a door, dropped multiple times on concrete and once even on gravel, dropped down some stairs, let the sun beat on it. And after all that, my screen protector never cracked thanks to the raised bumper on the front and the case barely show signs of wear. But if there’s one thing I would ask for is an all white case!

Compared to the real Defender cases this thing is terrible. I’ve had to replace 2 screen protectors and shattered back glass with this case. If your phone lives a hard life this is absolutely not the case for you. Also, this case is very slippery compared to the real Defender case. 0/10 will not buy again.

Ineffective, choose another product
Bought this case with the purchase of a brand new iPhone 14 pro max from Verizon. Two weeks later my toddler accidentally bumped the phone off the couch with was a 3 foot drop and shattered the back glass of the phone with this case on it. Sadly Otter Box would not cover the phone replacement but instead wanted to send me another case (same kind) which blew my mind. Why would I want the same ineffective case??? I’ve had other Otter Box products but don’t waste your time on this one!!! Better off getting a cheap one on Amazon which would probably protect your phone better.

Missed the mark
This is not the defender series I am used to. The installation was rather difficult and I consider myself savvy to phone cases. The off on ringer switch is not placed well and it’s not easy to use the switch. The case is on my phone now and looks like it doesn’t fit quite right. Not sure if this is a fluke of a case or a design flaw on the iPhone 14 pro max.

It’s OK but the discoloration turned me off.
I never had a dropped phone with this case but over normal wear and tear and handling over a six month period, the case had a very bad discoloration from my hands and normal body oils and sweat.

Cute case, but it is difficult to keep the coloured part of the case clean. No matter how frequent I clean it the case has a dark tinge making the case look dirty. Really disappointed as this case was quite expensive.

Great protection
I really love this case. Very durable but very pretty at the same time. It gives great protection and doesn’t feel heavy. Still charges in my cars charging pad area, which I was afraid it wouldn’t. This purchase is so worth it. I bought an Apple case before buying this one and it didn’t provide very good protection. This is an excellent choice.

Good case if you can get your phone in it
I just got my new phone and case today at a T-Mobile store. The case does feel very solid, after I put the screen protector on, I tried a long time to get the phone in. After 10 minutes of struggle, I gave up and decided to return it at the store. A gentleman there had to really worked around it to get the phone in, but because he used some forces, he lifted 2 corners of the screen protector and sadly now I see bubbles under there. A little disappointed.
I would not recommend this case.

This is my third iPhone pro max OtterBox defender XT iteration that I’ve bought. It’s the best textured and fit case so far. I highly recommend it. I have had problems with the power flap wearing off but it looks like they have tried to fix it.

Great phone case for my iPhone 13 promax
The case is tough and the rubber around the edge is nice to grip my phone while I talk or text. The MagSafe is awesome and the only downfall is the charger port flap. It's very important to have the flap there to protect the phone. I wouldn't buy again. Waste of money

Very disappointed with this case. It was my go to as soon as I got my new iPhone 14pro max just like it was when I had gotten my 13pro max. Unfortunately the camera cutout seemed like it was cut way too high and left and wouldn’t sit correctly around the lenses. It actually at ON the lip of the lens at the bottom right portion of it. I made sure that I had the correct case for my model and not mix it up with the plus version. All in all I had to settle for the defender pro (not XT model) which is still good but a bit too big for me and not mag safe magnets built in. Not sure if there was a packaging error or manufacturing error. Otterbox please fix the issue.

Really loved the way this case looked on my phone and it being my favorite color was a plus! I had the case for 3 days and it got so dirty so fast on the sides and wasn’t able to clean it off. Very sad and disappointed. Sadly had to return it.

Can’t get it too fit over my phone :(

I got this version because the other Defender case was rather thick and didn't work all that great w/magsafe. However this case is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to install. I had many otterbox cases and this one is the worst. The front has broken in the same spot 3 times already and only has it for a few months. The front holder is thin and breaks very easily.

Poor quality item. Wanted to return but paid with a gift card which I discarded after use. Otterbox has no mechanism to either give store credit and payback in the form of a gift card. Had to keep what I didn’t like much. Bought my otterbox for $69 but it came for $35 on Best Buy after 2 days. Overall a very bad deal.

10 foot drop protection is a flat lie. I dropped my phone in this case, it fell about 2-3 feet out of my hand and the entire back of it shattered. I thought for the higher price point of $70 this case would be great just like all of the other otterbox products I have had in the past, I guess I was wrong. Now I had to spend almost $600 to get the back glass repaired. Buyers beware, just because the brand is good doesn’t mean all of its products are good. What a shame otterbox.

Protection at its best
Had my iPhone 14 pro max on a bay door, forgot about it. Opened the bay door and the phone went for a ride up, came down from over 14’! Broke the case but not my phone! Bummer, have to spend another $70.00 for a new case as it is broke. ????? You get what yo pay for with OtterBox, great product with great protection!!!! ??

Warning. Doesn’t protect against damage to lenses
My phone fell off the charger from a height of three feet camera side down. You would expect the raised lip to offer protection for the lenses but that isn’t the case ( pun intended). I now have several chips on the lens edges of a very expensive phone.

I've had this case for less than 4 months and the back of my phone shattered after a less than 4 foot drop, despite the case being properly assembled. So, if you're a clutz like me, this is not the drop-protective case for you.

Honestly, not the best bang for your buck. My 14 Pro Max has had this case for 3-4 months and the charger hole cover is already ripped off, the silence button is near impossible to use without smashing your finger in the hole, and good luck trying to use a screen protector with this case, if the alignment isn’t perfect the case will push up the protector and cause air bubbles to form. Honestly, I’ve been using OtterBox for over 6 years and the quality of their product has unfortunately declined.

Bad Design, Spiderwebbed Back Glass
I have been an OtterBox customer for 15 years and I no longer have confidence in OtterBox. The back glass is spiderwebbed from normal use. This case is an inadequate design that does not offer the protection OtterBox claims. I contacted OtterBox and they do not warrantee the phone from damage from their poorly designed case. OtterBox offered to replace this case however, why would I want to replace the case when the case design does not protect the phone?… I am disappointed with OtterBox and their lack of empathy for their bad design. I encourage everyone to avoid OtterBox and not to pay OtterBox’s premium price for a low-quality product.

Thought I was the only one
I am a long time user of Otterbox cases. I've used them consistently for several years now with all my Iphones. Got my new Iphone 14 and picked up a case at the local Verizon store. Excitedly got home to put my phone in the case. What a STRUGGLE!! Installed the screen protector and had to break out a small flat head screwdriver to actually get the case onto my phone and secured. It's maddening to have to work that hard to put a case on a phone. The case for my Iphone 12, both Pro Max mind you, was so much easier to get on and off. Do better Otterbox. It shouldn't be this much of a struggle.

Bought for a phone killer
Boyfriends gone through phone like crazy I bought this hoping to save him the trouble of buying new one. Well he was helping clean out his deceased uncles house and when he had to go through the attic window to Unlock the door it fell out of his pocket and bounced off the roof to the ground. His phone is completely destroyed and he only had the phone a week.

Bland case
The case seems durable enough, but compared to options for other OtterBox iPhone protection, the overall aesthetic of the case was quite bland. Come on Otterbox, you can do better for the Max Defender iPhone 14 Plus options like you do for some of your other models.

Defender protection

Sturdy and Protective
Overall I am happy with the fit and design of this case. It was a little hard to put on but am happy to know it won’t come off so easily. I also like the clear backing. Overall this is a really great case.

Cute, but poor design
Cute fuschia and purple case. Rather difficult to get on but I eventually mastered it. Sound on/off switch on the left is not covered by the case. I suppose this is good or bad - it was one of the first spots to wear out on my old case, but this new design with an opening leaves the phone vulnerable to damage. Spot on the bottom where you connect the charging cable is covered by a little floppy piece of soft purple plastic. This was the second part of my old phone case to fail, and Otterbox continues to use this same design. But I can always buy another cute case when this one falls apart.

Not What I Expected
I don't like this case at all. Have had several other Lifeproof cases and loved them. This one is almost impossible to get on the phone and isn't of the same quality I had come to expect from Lifeproof cases.

pretty good but
i like the case, i just think it could use some improvement, there’s alot of dust that gets into the speaker and microphone ports, maybe it’s just because i work in a mechanic shop, but the flap thing that covers the charging port just tore off after about month, but other than that i like the protection from drops and the grip it has.

Doesn't protect from fall damage of about 4 feet!
This case does not offer drop protection. My wife dropped hers on two separate occasions both resulting in a shattered back glass and had to pay to replace it both times. I had used otterbox products for all our gear for years. This product is the worst sadly. I hope its just this being poorly designed and not an indication of a trend into poorer quality products.

Pink defender series xt iPhone 14ProMax
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve dropped my 14ProMax at work onto the concrete floor. I have a neck injury and just can’t trust my grip. I have had my phone for about a year now. I have a screen protector and camera lens protector that I purchased cheap from Amazon and this case fits and protects from my endless drops. I recently had a scare that I’d finally cracked my iPhone but it was only the screen/lens protector. I removed this case, replaced the damaged screen protector and reinstalled this case. It also came with a coupon for the holster which I love, But I’ve already broken that. I have repurchased it bc as a female the phone doesn’t fit in my pocket with or without a case on it.
The only reason I took 1 star off is because I wish it had a better grip in my hand.

I’ve used a defender for 10+ years not and only a defender never had an issue, never broke a phone until now. My phone fell off a shelf and my back glass shattered. The case itself also broke rather quickly

Great case
My case is light purple just like my iPhone and it is really tough. I've dropped it a few times and it hasn't broken. I think these are the best cases for durability and in protecting your cellphone.
