Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Mesh System I'd previously been using a Netgear Nighthawk wireless router and extender; however, with a growing population of home automation devices, it was time to upgrade to a mesh network. I'm using two RBS850 satellites with the RBR850 router (in AP mode) with terrific results. Excellent video and audio streaming results, strong backhaul signals in our mid-sized tri-level home. Orbi iPhone App works really well for initial setup, basic configuration and day-to-day management. Web app provides more advance features. Super-handy Ethernet ports on the back of each module allow a mix of wired/wireless devices and provides extender-like capabilities. I have nothing bad to say about this mesh system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good throughput and stability with caveats Overall, I am pleased with the performance. If you don't need any bells and whistles and just plug-n-play, this is a good setup. Here are some cons: no users manual or detailed instructions included. If you have a wireless access point/router and want to turn off the native wireless and use this device instead, there are no instructions on how to set up this system. Also, there is no parental control software available for the device. So, you can't set specific hours for the device to limit certain users connectivity. With cord cutters, this can be important to limit kids internet usage. If you are working from home and use video teleconferencing, this is a nice setup. You can run a Cat 5/6 cable from one of the remote nodes to your computer. WiFi 6 provides the backhaul to the router.

I had a Net gear router and a wireless extension but it kept losing the signal. This step saved me from having to run Cat 5 Cable. Set up was fairly easy. I like the software to monitor the system better than my Google Mesh.

Before I had a 5-20 second lag, especially if my one of my kids was online gaming while the other was streaming Netflix, so answering the doorbell ringer was too slow to be practical. Now it loads within 1 second. Pretty impressed with how much faster it is.

Setup was simple and having Ethernet jacks available with each satellite was a bonus. Strong signal everywhere and future proof with IPv6. It’s not cheap but it offers a lot more.

With the Orbi we now have coverage everywhere, even in the garage and on the patio. And I love the Armor security. It tells me when websites are blocked and allows me the choice to unblock if I recognize the site. Great investment!

I tested both ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) and NETGEAR AX6000 WiFi Mesh System (RBK853), even after setting up the XT8 for peak performance, I just could not justify the savings versus the performance I get the RBK853. Over two weeks using the Orbi, I have never rebooted the router and performance is just mind blowing, moolah well spent in my opinion. I have a Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 system I get to enjoy getting the full benefits of the speeds I get from my internet provider. I sincerely believe you get what you pay for, I was hesitant at first due to the cost but now with all the holiday discounts I was able to get a good price and enjoy what most our missing!

With our old router we kept dropping the internet connection. We have had zero issues with the Orbi. The app is really nice too. You can see all the devices connected and turn the connection off if need be. The additional satellite helps the connection reach every part of the house. We are very happy with our purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mesh Router I actually purchased the RBR853 with three triband stations (one base and two satellites) so I can overdo it. Anything that is worth doing is worth overdoing, as they say. The new router system replaced my old one from 2016 (also Netgear).All I had to do for the satellites was to just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. For the base, I did the same but had to change the SSID and password to the settings I wanted. Good news: the 853 is at least as good as the old one. Better news: It is actually better. I have noticed in the short time period that I have had it, the new router does not have any drop-offs that I had seen before. The coverage seems to be better as well. I would recommend this router to anyone who wants a whole-home router.

In comparison, I am now using 1 Orbi router and 2 satellites and have not found any spot in the house where I get less than 200 MBS Great product if you are looking for coverage for a large home. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The setup for this router is ridiculous, a lot of issues and took over 30 mins to get it up and running, had to return the first router and after received the second one having the same issue. The ISP supplied router (non-Orbi) cannot penetrate the sliding out to the shop/garage area and the SSID was barely detectable in most areas of the shop. In the house (MBPS) I got 350 on the level of the house with the router, about 100 upstairs, and zero out in the garage/shop. Drat! I purchased an Orbi AX6000 with two satellites. Installation was simple. In the house (MBPS) I got 450 on the level of the house with the Orbi router, 450 upstairs using one of the satellites, and 217 out in the garage/shop using the second satellite (entirely satisfactory speed level compared to the former Zero). Yes, the Orbi AX6000 was expensive but it ended all the connection issues and supplied the latest tri-speed Wi-Fi platform coupled with reliable performance. All the satellites are on the same SSID. IMHO I give it high marks toward regaining that peace-of-mind about nagging internet problems, and access for other devices et cetera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Orbi Mesh RBK852 feature The Orbi has easy and seamless setup and the user experience was great. However, I realized the Orbi does not have external USB-C port for hard disk. This is an extremely useful and necessary feature to run back up on the home network. I am replacing an old Apple TimeCapsule router that has a built-in disk and an USB port. I can connect a disk to the USB port and it is visible without running any special program. I use Apple’s TimeMachine to do backup. I can always connect a disk to my Mac for backup, but it is not a good solution. I did a Chat support with NetGear for the same issue, and it was about to time me out before I can finish typing. The Chat session was timed out and no results. So support was not great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does not get any better than an Orbi! I read most reviews, long time ASUS customer and new to NETGEAR products. I tested both ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) and NETGEAR AX6000 WiFi Mesh System (RBK852), even after setting up the XT8 for peak performance, I just could not justify the savings versus the performance I get the RBK852. Over two weeks using the Orbi, I have never rebooted the router and performance is just mind blowing, moolah well spent in my opinion. I have a Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 system I get to enjoy getting the full benefits of the speeds I get from my internet provider. I sincerely believe you get what you pay for, I was hesitant at first due to the cost but now with all the holiday discounts I was able to get a good price and enjoy what most our missing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beat dead spot Had a 2 set orbi. After looking at the priving for new model i opted to get another satellite due to dead spot in house. I couldn't be better pleased. Dead spot is gone and i was able to put one in garage for security dvr. Whole house is covered perfectly.

I decided to upgrade to the Tri band 6, and WoW it’s the best I’ve ever seen! Easy to set up, the speeds of Wifi, and the app is so easy to use!!! Love it!

Other than that, I like the new look and the addition of one more Ethernet port on the units.

Like when I do speed check/tests it looks GREAT but when it comes time for the actual process (playing games, streaming the speed in the tests is nowhere to be found. Reason I’m using Orbi is cause so far as of today it’s the best WiFi 6 mesh system I’ve tried.

I now have 2 satellites with the router and have experienced drops in signal multiple times despite the system supposedly able to cover 5000sf. In addition, I spent $1000 for this system and as of late I cannot connect to the app. For about two weeks now the app will not recognize my system. Now for a system that cost me $1000, I EXPECT better customer service and the ability to get SOMEONE on the line to trouble shoot. I do not have the time to weed through nonsense blogs for answers. I would not recommend this system.

I decided to spend the money and found the Orbi 6 easy to set up and depoy. My WiFi speeds through the house are now double or greater than my previous mesh product. With everybody attending classes or working from home none of us experience the challenges we had with our previous product. It is nice to work with a product that can take full advantage of my Gigabit internet speeds.

I thought it was my country internet. No more buffering! TV channels load so much faster! I had tried a different mesh system a year ago. It was awful! It would take a device and connect to a satellite that was farthest away. I sent it back. This is by far the quickest and best! And the ap is awesome! So easy to keep an eye on your devices. Easy to pause the internet... Easy to set up a guest network. By far the best whole home system!!!

The setup and synching with the main unit/router went smoothly and now the connections on the 2nd floor are at their maximum WiFi speeds. I'm very satisfied with the overall system performance; however, the price for the Satellite seems a little high.

I bought a media streamer for another room that lacks wifi and a fair distance away from the other units (so couldn't hardwire from those). I was able to purchase the satellite, load the app, easily add it to the existing system, and place it next to the media streamer with a hardwire. No issues whatsoever and incredibly simple to add on. The device map showed the new unit within minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Router, but needs improvement I have an RBK850 with two RBS850 satellites. Setup was fast and easy, with the App. Gave it an average rating due to two items. Devices don’t seem to connect to the nearest satellite, even if they are very close. Second more serious issue, if there is a power outage or a provider network outage the router does not automatically connect back to the modem when power is back on or outage is over. The router has to be physically unplugged and rebooted for it to connect back to the modem. Did not have this problem ever with any of my older routers.

I’ve had it for about a week now and it is so far standing up to all that it claims. I have a 4000 sq foot home and the coverage is consistent with strong signal strengths, and mind blowing WiFi speeds are unprecedented throughout my home. There are absolutely no dead zones. I even get amazing coverage outside in my driveway to my back yard. This is perfect for 1 gig internet speeds. This is a must have!!!...impressive!!!

My home network has never been faster or more seamless. I am getting quality speeds from my basement to my attic and well into the front and back yard. Set up was beyond easy. These units are expensive however, they are delivering in spades. I would recommend highly if your budget allows.

The 2 Orbi’s replaced an obsolete Google mesh wifi that required 4 stations (3 satellites router) which still didn’t provide the signal strength and throughput that the 2 Orbi’s provide.

I did some customization afterwards and found the functionality of the menus to be a lot better than the linksys velop mesh network I was replacing. I also had recently switched from a 300mb internet connection to a 1Gb and between testing a linksys standalone router, the velop mesh, and the Orbi network, I was getting greater speeds with the Orbi. On top of that, the bonus of the security software is excellent, Definitely recommend the Orbi!

It will NOT show you how much data is being used by individual devices which means you are likely to need the most expensive (unlimited data contract from your ISP. This is very unfortunate because if you have a limit on your data you will see spikes that are 20-30 times more than normal (check the forums and you'll see many people problems because of this limitation.

Easy to set up, worked straight away with spectrum modem, no issues as to having to call spectrum at all.. used the app, very easy to follow.. once it was up and running, i had signal where i needed it and faster speeds than what my plan from isp was.. (400mbps), overkill this mesh setup is for me, but i wanted something reliable (figured the price of this would grant me that).. and thats where i ran into what most of these newer reviews are complaining about.. i ran into random disconnections of devices after just a week, my new xbox series x kept on bumping offline.. my ring cameras would take forever to connect or not connect at all.. i then checked speedtest on my cellphone and computer and i was at 13(ish)mbps, which was ridiculous.. the next day, random high to very low speeds, so i give it 4 stars because i didnt bother to call tech support at all, nor do resets, nor reinstall the mesh routers.. nothing..its a $700 router(s).. $700!!!! I understand ax tech is somewhat new and still has alot of glitches, but i NEED reliability, and right now by what other reviewers and myself experienced, these werent what i was looking for.. but when it was working, wow! Everything loaded up super fast, ring cameras connected and live feeds fed to my phone in 2-4 seconds, everytime! Everything was streaming seamlessly.. so yea 4 stars for that regard.. but i packaged it back up, exchanged the ax6000 to the ax4200 (which is still more than what im getting from isp) but we will see..

I had finally had enough of equipment swaps and brand new lines being ran to my house. I researched what I could do and finally bit the bullet and purchased my own modem and router. Best decision I made. I love my new ORBI router system and it helps me keep track of what devices are being used and if I am getting the internet speed that I am paying for.

Over two weeks using the Orbi, I have never rebooted the router and performance is just mind blowing, moolah well spent in my opinion. I have a Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 system I get to enjoy getting the full benefits of the speeds I get from my internet provider! I sincerely believe you get what you pay for, I was hesitant at first due to the cost but now with all the holiday discounts I was able to get a good price and enjoy what most our missing!

Password is not always required to use local web admin function, and log file emails out a lot of erroneous data. I believe the units are functioning as intended, but the web interface does not always update changes made.... or instill confidence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great and easy upgrade We updated our home network, as our NightHawk R7000 and extender were having problems keeping network connections and handling all of our attached devices. I purchased the Orbi 6 system with 2 satellites to provide adequate coverage and to handle all devices. Setup was very easy and was impressed that the main Orbi 6 router found and established communication with the others 2 satellite mesh routers. In all the process of switching to the new Orbi 6 mesh routers was easy and fast. The whole process took less than 2 hours, even renaming the network back to my original Network name and password. We are now running all devices and are achieving wireless speeds between 700 and 900 mbps in every room of our house, even in front and backyard. I am impressed with ease of installation, coverage and speed. We are very pleased with this new Orbi 6 system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Returned mine after two days Thankfully, I bought direct from Netgear as I returned the Orbi system after being not getting acceptable WiFI propagation. I have an 1890's farmhouse with a Nighthawk R7250 router. I have 200+ Mbps service into my router. I get that speed on WiFi in the same room as the router but only 100 Mbps in my office, which is two rooms down. I spent a load of money on the Orbi system and once installed I got 200 Mbps in the same room as the router but only got 10 (ten) Mbps in my office. After being on the phone with NETGEAR Support for hours with no success, I gave up and returned it. I expected it to work as advertised out of the box. I bought a Nighthawk R8000 AC4000 and it works great with full speed in my office and excellent signal to my Extender in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest I’ve ever had I am not an IT person. I was intimidated with the thought. However, once I started it was pretty simple. It did require me to call my internet provider once to find out why after it being on, it had stopped working. I was told that it needed to be rebooted on their end and I should have no problems with it again. I haven’t had any problems since then. The download speeds are averaging around 850 and the upload speeds are averaging around 45. I have five people living in our home and all of our devices have been able to stay connected and speeds are great. I would definitely purchase this again.

I was paying for 400 mbps through my provider but because I had so many devises connected at once the routers I had purchased in the past could not handle it. As soon as I got my orbi system hooked up and dialed in my WiFi was instantly better and consistent. Have not had a single negative moment with these routers. The price may be higher then other systems but it is worth every penny to have my devices working seamlessly. I urge anyone who uses a lot of devices and aren’t getting the internet they paid for to try this system you will not regret it.

Easy installation and my wifi speeds are almost twice as fast with same internet service (up to 600 mbps which is what my internet service speed is. Well worth the investment given work from home, school conference calls etc. Given pricepoint, I hope Netgear will allow more functionality such as site blocking and wifi scheduling in future updates.

The setup was simple, the ability to manage all devices logged into the network is great, and the speed is lightening fast across my 6,500 sq ft. home. I would like to add one more satellite to boost my outdoor coverage and hope they are back in stock soon!

Poured $1200 down the drain. I just switched to a 2 satellite Orbi WiFi 6 system. One of 2 satellites is wired. My house rocks. Full 460mbps off Spectrum. No dead zones. Wired or wireless. Awesome product. Buy it. Great service too. Game changer with everyone home working and doing college online.

Now we can have all 20 plus devices and computers logged in at once and each connection is at max speed. Everyone can stream videos or play games and have no problems at all! All our internet connection frustration is over! Also love the ability to shutoff individual devices to keep my kids from getting online during screen free time. Worth every dollar

I setup the Central Router in the center of the lower floor and the 2 satellites upstairs on the outside walls. Coverage is phenomenal and speed is better than ever. I would rate this with 6 stars if possible. It is that good.

I found a few of my older 2.4ghz devices had a hard time choosing the right satellite and bandwidth. But other than that everything has been super smooth, reliable, and fast.
