Rated 5 out of 5 by from Security flaw needs fixed! Let's start with the main reason for a subpar rating. The first thing you need to do with your new router (after setting it up) is update your firmware (both the router and satellite firmware) to the most current version for security (and feature) updates. If you use the app or login directly from a browser and ask it to look for new firmware Netgear comes back saying you are up to date. If you then go to Netgears website and look at current firmware versions for your router and satellites you will quickly see you're NOT running the latest firmware which contains numerous security updates. This is a huge security concern and terrible flaw in Netgears programming which also makes me worry about the firmware programming. If you can't program a product to do an easy version check against your servers how can we trust you to properly implement WPA3, VPN protocols, or simply keep my online banking secure??? When I brought this up to their "technical help" it was brushed off like it wasn't a big deal and was a one off. I know for sure security updates in firmware is a big deal an I just updated my previous Orbi router/satellites setup and had the same issues with them so I know this isn't a one off problem. This is a recurring issue and needs to be resolved by Netgear. Netgear also needs to resolve the router/satellite firmware update process. Ensuring one is updated before the other is problematic...the process should be the user saying update my firmware, Netgear pulls down router and satellite firmware and then updates each without further interaction from the user. You've overly complicated the issue after already lying to the customer that there was no firmware update available. This needs fixed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Working very well. All my smart home devices which otherwise did not work with previous very good 6E network are working very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lot of hype ... No improvement. Bought this as an upgrade off my prior Orbi Mesh system. Despite advertisements of better performance and greater range, there is no noticeable different. Advertised to work well in 8,000 square feet...I lose 80% of my bandwidth in a space that is less than half that size. Disappointing and definitely not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely stellar performance Put this system in and replaced a Nighthawk R9000, an EX8000 Range Extender and a separate router configured as an access point. Speeds are like everything is hardwired to the router. Just amazing. Just make sure you update the Orbi router to the latest firmware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Range less than expected.. disappointing So I had an AP failure and decided to upgrade my wifi network.. I was using an R6400 and a R7450 to build my wireless network for full home coverage across three floors and about an acre of land.. it was working fine until the 6400 died.. So I figured an upgrade was the route to go so I went with the Orbi system. Easy configuration and just moved my SSID over and it was running like a snap. But the coverage with the Orbi 860 and a 860-Satelite is waaay too weak! I can sit 30 feet away from the router with a wall between and only get three out of five bars.. super crappy.. my old system would give me five bars across two floor level and half way across the house not to mention a half acre coverage outside.. with just the 7450.. so three bars is the rating that I'm giving it for very poor wifi coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review of the RBK863S They do not have the range I expected from the advertising.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible speed. Great all round performance from this set up I needed a better signal around my yard and this works. Incredible 820mb around the house off a 1Gb service. Super easy setup and management over the ORBI app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup and Good Range The setup for the Orbi RBR863S was easy and straight forward. Using the app is mostly for initial setup but you will need to access the web interface for customized setting such as changing the Subnet (if desired), IP reservations, port configurations and wifi broadcast options. The interface is a little slower to respond then my previous Netgear R6300. I used ethernet backhaul since I was already setup to do so but it also worked fine using wireless backhaul. I have a 3 story 2400sqf. house and signals are good in most portions of the house and don't have any issues with throughput. I have many wifi devices which include switches, plugs, appliances, Echo's and a Thermostat. The only issue I have is with the Bryant Thermostat that I have not been able to get connected to the wifi. I have seen online where others have had this same issue so I believe it to be more of an issue with the device than the Orbi since I also had some problems over the last few months on my R6300. Ok, now for my only real complaint. At over $1K I think there should be built-in fine grained firewall options for parental and device controls without having to pay for a subscription based app that is lacking in configuration options. I find this to be just a money grab for continued revenue steam. I have a couple of internal services I run that use port forwarding and with all the port scanners out on the internet they obviously hit and get sent into the device. Thankfully they are secure connections which get rejected but would like to have the ability to block inbound IP's before they even hit my devices or have a list of approved IP's for the service. There are no options for that so you have to relay one the Orbi's "PAID" Security Interface. If it does find an attack, it merely states an attack was found an blocked but only shows you the IP and no info on what kind of attack it was. Overall I am pleased with the Orbi RBR960 and would recommend it. I am taking one star away due to the lack of built-in controls at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest set up of a router …ever! Super easy to set up, fast WiFi with great coverage using 2 satellites & sleek design. This is our 3rd Netgear router and they keep getting better and easier. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice So far so good. Speeds are far better than before. This is my second Orbi and have always liked them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speeds to many dropouts Great download speeds of over 500 all over home but way too many dropouts on harmony remotes watchdog sump pump, Samsung SmartThings hub and ecobee thermostat. I did not have these issues with my orbi RBK43. If that system hadn’t started acting up after 4 years I would’ve kept it instead of spending all this money on dropouts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome upgrade from my Netgear 6250 w/extenders! I upgraded from my 10 year old Netgear 6250 with multiple extenders. With this mesh system, I’ve been able to get rid of all my extenders & still have Wi-Fi in my external garage 100+ ft away from my main router. The signal strength is awesome - much better that I was anticipating. I’m extremely happy with the purchase!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, set up a little quirky A little difficult to set up - needed to update firmware, which took some time and made it a bit cumbersome to get the network up and running. That said, the system is now live and providing outstanding coverage throughout my three-story home. It also is providing signal to my pool equipment that is nearly 100 yards from the nearest satellite. All in all very good. Way better than the Google system I had in a prior home. I would buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advetised. Works as advertised. Good coverage throughout in a 4,100 sq ft, 2-story home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Orbi 960 but Installed several months ago. Zero problems. Great coverage. Only thing it really needs to get a fifth star is the ability to support two internet connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More coverage Can't give five star, this is my first mesh system.. Definitely, a step up from my old wifi! Have 2 in house, one in my shed and one out by fire pit and now have coverage about 600ft from house

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive downgrade I bought this system, as the newer/next generation system to the previous version I had. I’ve observed zero improvements and actually have more signal loss and connection issues. It’s extremely disappointing for a product that is so expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible Support on my Orbi wifi6 I'm having trouble installing this in place of a Verizon router that it turns out is also my cable box (the Orbi doesn't have a cable input) so I called Support and got a guy overseas with roosters constantly making noise in the background. He didn't know how to proceed, so forwarded me to another support line and I've been on hold for 20 minutes. Wasn't this supposed to be easy?
