It totally captures the full speed of my Comcast 1.2GB service, and it has run without a hitch. That is what you hope for in a renewed product! Unless of course you need/want to have the extra VoIP to go with it or you want the modem+router in one, than you need to get it's counterparts. I prefer the two to be separate from one another for a multitude of reasons. Now, I'm just patiently waiting for a decent discount to come along to go towards the purchase of the new Nighthawk RS700S WiFi 7 Router. Still a bit pricey. I just cannot wait for these two to find and connect to each other. They would definitely make a great power couple. Patience is a virtue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good, I Think ?? Ease of setup, speed and stability are excellent. However, every evening it buffers a couple of times, 6 to 10 seconds for each buffer. Netgears ' customer service blamed my Internet provider, Xfinity and Xfinity blamed Netgear. Go figure.

After being a "squeaky wheel" for several days, Netgear reached out to remedy the problem by sending me a new CM2000. Unlike the last, this one has become inoperable. Further, the modem has complemented the Netgear Orbi well and produces significantly better speeds than we were getting with the Spectrum Modem-Router Combo. Speeds are insanely fast, but they are pretty good. As well, the device's footprint is minimal.

While the set up was challenging and required multiple calls with the support staff, once installed I have connected about 20 devices with no dead stops anywhere. With 1Gb internet from Xfinity, WiFi download speed is 300-900 mb. This is a real pleasure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CM2000 is clear upgrade over CM1000 Update (October 2020): After the NetGear team contacted me over the issue I was experiencing, they strongly suggested that I should get Comcast to check my incoming line, as both the CM1000 and CM2000 were reporting that I had "Partial Service" in the upstream. And indeed, it turned out that Comcast had installed a filter on their end that prevented some of my upstream channels from working properly! I was told that they put in the filter after they observed some "ingress" noise coming from my house. This must have happened a while ago, and I was never contacted. In any case, no such noise was detectable anymore, and Comcast removed the filter. The CM2000 now successfully and reliably locks all 5 upstream channels, and no longer indicates "Partial Service". I am getting 1.2Gbps downstream and 42Mbps upstream, as I was hoping for for my 1Gbps/35Mbps plan with 20% overprovisioning. The CM2000 is a clear upgrade over the CM1000, and its improved UI actually helped me identify a Comcast-imposed limitation. Original review (September 2020): I bought this to replace a CM1000 in the hopes of capturing the 20% overprovisioning that Comcast does on their Gigabit plan —- that actually worked for the downstream, giving almost 1.2Gbps! However, logging in to the modem (192.168.100.1), it shows that it can only lock 2 out of 5 upstream channels, while the CM1000 locked all 5 without problems. Very strange, but that looks to be more severe issue than the increased downstream benefit. So back to the CM1000 I will go.

What I can tell you is that the investment was well paid off. Just when you thought your Internet was fast you ain’t seen nothing.

So I’ve had my CM1000 gigabit router for 3 years now on COX gigablast plan and while it’s been a solid performer with little to no issues, I’ve never been able to get more than 680mbps down. I always felt kinda cheated paying for 940mbps down and only getting 680. My router recently failed so I started looking at upgrading it and came to the net gear website and saw the CM2000 modem. It was actually on sale for $205 with a 10% off coupon which brought the price down to $195 with tax and free shipping. It was a good deal so I jumped on it. Got the modem and had cox provision it. Ran a speed test off my router directly and for the first time I hit 800mbps. Not the 940 I was hoping for but still an improvement over the 680 I had been getting with the CM1000. The rest might be a COX bottleneck since my area hasn’t been upgraded to fiber yet. All in all I’m happy with the upgrade. Oh and the CM2000 seems to stay a lot cooler than the CM1000 which I always thought ran on the hot side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Junk This product was junk I received one couldn’t get it to connect to the Internet there’s no light started blinking all the light started blinking I went through registering it and everything just to find out that the product was no good Netgear would not send me another I had to contact Amazon the original seller and they quickly sent me another one I went through the same process I called to help get it connected it wouldn’t connect all the lights are blinking there’S a Hardware issue Again Netgear would not resolve the problem by sending me another product or guaranteeing their own product I had to call Amazon yet again the tech-support did stay on the phone with me to explain that was yet another issue he wanted me to replace instead I asked for a refund again I have to now go to UPS and return it this is extremely frustrating I feel like Nickie should be standing by the products and sending me one right from them and walking me through the steps to set it up up

This modem features a next gen chipset that fixes all the problems, slowdowns and frustrations from my old cable modem. My only complaint is this didn't come out sooner. I pull 1200mbps continuously out the 2.5gbps interface and it just keeps going.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Modem, why is the Nighthawk® Multi-Gig 2.5Gbps Cable Modem not compatible to Orbi RBK852, when in the description states works best with Works best with RAX120, RAX200, Orbi RBK852, and future routers with 2.5 Gbps. It's a great modem, but after setting it up, in the app it states this modem does not my router. even though it says in the description it works best with the type of router I have. All my equiptment is working great, I'm receiving the speed i'm supposed to be getting. But qyestioning why this modem says not support router?!

Sometimes is every day, sometimes its every few days and then I have to reset the modem. Not sure how to fix this as I never had this problem with my previous modem - I am on Comcast if that helps.

My internet provider is Altice/Optimum; gave them a ring and provided the modems MAC address and had them put it on my account with zero issues. It literally took like 5 mins to do.

I used to have unreliable and constrained speed with my service before when I was still renting my modem/router from my ISP. Ever since I reconfigured my network and decided to buy my own gears, the CM2000 modem was first in line. This is a great product for high speed internet home service.

The CM2000 has not lost connection once since installed a few weeks ago. My ISP is currently limited to 1.0Gbps, but will likely move up 2.5Bbps in the near term. The CM2000 runs much cooler than the earlier model. It’s cool, it’s tri band, and it’s fast. Recommend without reservation.

So far, the speed is noticeably faster than with our previous NETGEAR C6900. Luckily we bought at the right time as both were on sale and we were able to to the additional 10% off promo.

A week after using it the modem crashed and has become inoperable. Netgear promised to send me an email to ship a new device but has not actually followed up.

Before anyone chooses to slam this device for subpar performance, do your due diligence to ensure your cable ISP provider did not install splitter devices in line that would cause your gigablast signal to noise (SNR down channels numbers to be way below optimal. I have Cox ISP service, kicked their overpriced cable service to the curb. This device is certainly on the COX approved list and their firmware management of the device is on point. DL speeds of 130-ish mbps before removal of splitter and now consistently hitting 940-955 mbps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in areas with low bandwidth availability If you’re in a area with high utilization (bandwidth useable a docsis 3.1 OFDM(a)+ is an excellent tool for all your high speed data needs. As a senior service technician I can assure you that this modem is top bar in comparison to your ISPs modem. The material and quality assurance put into NetGear product cannot be outmatched by any other product ISPs provide. If you do decide to purchase, make sure you pair your high speed modem with a good compatible router with OFDM capability. This helps with in home (LAN) devices. If you have a two story, or long ranch style home, a mesh router makes a great addition. The nighthawk Mesh system has been a true iron horse.

I do not recall ever having a problem with Netgear gear in the past. The other choice was a Motorola and we had problems with their phones so I did not want to chance it with them.

I have multi gig xfinity internet service and i was only getting 800mbps but once I learned how to program it to get the multi gig internet my gaming have been magnificent. My service gets me 1.2 gig but with this I get 1.45 gigs. The only problem is there customer service could be better and the hardware tends to get pretty warm, but i just even that with a micro fan

My previous modem died on me recently and after reading the many positive reviews, I decided to upgrade my modem and get the future-proof Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 modem from Best Buy. It was super easy to install and compatible with my Comcast/Xfinity internet service. Set-up with Comcast/Xfinity was also super easy. Works like a dream and is super fast.

Netgear confirmed this was a rare hardware issue, and I had to return it. So be aware that if you experience the same rapidly blinking lights, that your modem is basically dead and you will have to replace it.

So, I bought another Netgear 2.5 Gig cable modem. It works great and I've had no problems with either one of them. I also bought 5 grand of other netgear switches, routers to go with the 2.5 gig internet that is comings. Way overkill for a homeowner but way worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Died after 6 moths After 6 months of uneventful usage, set-up with xfinity was seamless, upgraded to 1 Gbps speeds and was performing as expected paired with an Orbi router also by Netgear. And then, the modem did not work. All lights in front where blinking, a hard reset did not work,. A reset using my computer would not work due to the fact that The modem won’t respond when directly hooked up to my computer. No outage on Xfinity’s side. So my final test was to go back to my old modem, so as to isolate if the Netgear modem is the problem. I connected and registered my old Arris modem, which is now several years old. Hooked it up and now its still working seamlessly. To clarify in simple terms, Netgear Nighthawk 2.5 Gbps cable modem(CM 2000-100NAS) died after six months with regular home use. Will RMA back to Netgear only to replaced with a second hand LEMON.

Nothing will recognize the modem even connected to it, but they still wanted me to ping it. Then they wanted me to make sure I did not have a static ip and ping it. Now they want me to make sure I have a static ip and ping it again.

I had some issues with the Serial number being recognized. Despite this, it still runs great, but does need frequent (once/day) reboots. I wish the firmware updated automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great modem It does what it needs to do, I have Xfinity Internet and the process of provisioning the new modem was painless using their app on my phone. My speeds are around 1300mbps and was using a similar but older Netgear model that has 2x 1gb ports configured using LACP into my pfsense box, this new one just makes everything easier to deal with as it has 1x 2.5gb port. Before without using the LACP I was stuck with speeds slightly below 1gb so I wasn't even getting the full bandwidth from Comcast. I didn't really need to upgrade at this time but I am glad that I did and try to purchase new equipment every so often as a preventative measure before something fails.

No issues getting it to work with my service provider and very reliable, but I do find that I need to completely unplug, disconnect the cable, and reboot it at least once per week when my speeds drop literally to 1/10th of what they are at peak performance. I blame that on my service provider throttling me on my unlimited data plan, but unplugging the modem seems to fix it every single time so?!? Anyway, still the fastest I’ve used when at its peak performance.

There was some hassle to get it running at its max glory. It was working for 14 months, but it suddenly stopped working. I troubleshooted but i could not revive it. I got a Comcast tech at home to make sure it was not something wrong with my connection, but connection was good. i was without internet for 3 days. I purchased the Arris SURFboard SB8200, and my wifi speed is faster than it was with Nighthawk, the better it i paid almost the half of the price for this gem. I had never to change Arris brand modem, they are reliable. basically, I spent more money than i saved from paying Comcast because if this faulty modem. i do not recommend it.

It hard-failed last week, and it was a frustrating ordeal to get a new one on the extended warranty that I wisely purchased when I bought the modem. Netgear needs to provide lifetime free tech support if they actually believe in the integrity of their products. They offer a pitifully short 90-day warranty, then price-gouge for their extended warranties on their mediocre products. Shame on you Netgear.

I had a CM2500 that stopped working 20 days after warranty. Netgear informed me there is no avenue to repair the unit. Since it is a business, I had to get back up and running immediately so I already bought a replacement CM2000. It is hooked up and working for now, but when it fails, I will replace with another brand. Ridiculous that your only option is to pitch a $350 modem in the trash. Shame on Netgear.

The modem worked great for a little over a year, then just last week all the lights started flashing. After researching, these were the lights of death. No hard reset, no power on\off, nothing would reset the modem. I still run the NightHawk router, but replaced modem with another brand.

Spent several hours on the phone with customer service, at which point they stated I need to get my my cable provider..it was there issue. So, I installed my old modem, and it worked....hmmm...Once I finally got them to admit it was the modem, the return process starts. You have pay to ship the modem back, and they have to receive before they will ship a replacement modem...unless you want to pay some outrageous fee upfront for them to ship you a new one, and then you still have to pay to return the old. And your 90 day warranty still goes from the original purchase date, not when you receive the new one. So you could be a month without a modem, and there goes 1/3 of your warranty... Thank you Amazon, as I requested to return and get a replacement, and they shipped me out a new one same day....allowing me 30 days to return the broken one. Thats customer service. Netgear take note....Gave it a 3 because the replacement seems to be working good...Hope I don't have to use the warranty again..... after 90 days you even have to pay for tech support...Works great, but recommend you look at other options.

Works great but seems very susceptible to power surges even if plugged into a surge protector. 4* when working. Also, required 2 calls to Xfinity to set up. Could not set it up myself. Recalling last time, this was true then also. Expect to waste 2 hours of your life waiting for Xfinity to do a required reset and call you back, tell you the wrong things, and finally (second call) set it up from their end.

The modem performs flawlessly, even in an apartment building with 35 years old coax. The modem is barely warm (every other modem I owned got hot) so I am saving money on the electric bill. When I upgraded to a modem and router of my own instead of renting I immediately noticed a difference. Better connectivity, faster response, lower latency, and almost no lag ever. Also, our older CM1000 was having issues with reliability and needing near daily reboots. This hardware has the processor horsepower to overcome noise on the high frequency ODFM channels which was causing overflow on my old DOCSIS 3.1 modem. The overflow in turn was causing the modem to disconnect from ISP (Comcast/Xfinity) and then reinitiate communication. The event log is full of great information to help the cable technicians troubleshoot. I wish there was better print support for this log since my browser since the web interface will not accommodate multi-page documents. Overall, this is a solid piece of hardware. It has been performing well in spite of the ISP and has provided many hints about what they should spend their energy on.

I pay for 1 Gbps and have received as much as 1049 Mbps I had a 1 Gbps modem prior to this one and was not receiving all I was paying for but since receiving this modem I almost always receive the 1 Gbps Im paying for. The only reason I purchased this modem was because I wanted to be future proof for awhile I always thought it was my isp not really providing me with the 1 Gbps that I was paying for now I know it was my equipment.

Had purchased one of these and a day later it lost internet, texh support and I tried everything to fix but couldn't. I was experiencing flashing lights, but it wasn't responsive. Netgear replaced the product. It took longer, but the replaced CM2000 started doing the same exact thing. Netgear gave me a refund. Unfortunately my experience with the CM2000 was poor, but netgear support and all other products I have used are great!

Nothing was done to it and it never moved from the door it was installed. It just randomly decided to stop working completely and was deemed impossible to fix. Called tech support for it and after an hour of trouble shooting, they claimed it as busted. New modem is being replaced under warranty, but not after a 10 day shipping period. Then, all of the lights started rapidly flashing. Netgear tech support said it was faulty. They said it would be 2 business days to get another one (4 days with weekend). I insisted on a refund so I could go to Best Buy to get one right away. The second one did the same thing within a few hours. Leased one from Xfinity when they came to check my connection (normal).

Speeds are screaming on all of my devices and I’m excited to see what my son says when he gets home to play his online game. All of my gear are Netgear Nighthawks and switches. Netgear is a great company and over the course of the last 20 years, I have never had an issue with them.

It’s because my internet service provider upgrades their system. I use my modem with Netgear Nighthawk mesh router. ( Which I also love). Netgear works amazingly fast with my high speed internet so that work can be seamless. The smaller footprint this was has in my home office is perfect. Hookup is smooth and easy. Love that I can use your App to review all details of my home internet system. Netgear keep doing what your doing because you are doing an awesome job!

If you read reviews on the internet you will see this is a known issue.Why Netgear does not fix this is a huge fed flag. Why do they continue to sell a product they know is defective? The configuration process and steps are easy to follow and it took me only 10 minutes to change out from my old equipment to this new one (I use comcast/xfinity as my service provider). The prior model was exceptional and I am already loving this new model (which is nearly identical to the prior model from 4 years ago).

Then it would allow my router the Orbi to get the speeds I was getting. So, I contacted Netgear they were able to figure out it was the modem. While waiting to figure out what was the issue and waiting on the new CM1200 to arrive. I started reading up on the CM2000.I read other reviews as well. I decided to buy it even though the CM1200 would be here the next day. I am 110% grateful I did. It was a great modem. Plus my speeds had increased greatly as well. Buy this modem you will not be disappointed. I have Spectrum gig internet. And I have no issues at all.

However I first contacted Netgear and the tech very meticulously walked me through the faultfinding and we were able to activate the Modem. I had to follow up service with Comcast to get their side of the issue resolved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this for one reason only! The ISP (which will remain nameless), that I rented my Internet gateway from did not adhere to sound security protocol. I myself, as a cybersecurity professional with more than 10 years experience, am naturally paranoid about weak passwords. This particular ISP limits the variety of keyboard characters allowed for passwords, making them easier to crack! In fact, on a few occasions, my passwords were changed without my consent. From that point forward I decided to buy my own cable modem that would allow me to choose the access passwords without character limitations. Now that it is up and running I am beyond happy. My desired security posture is now a reality, and my internet finally achieves 1gb downloads, better than the ISP's cable modem that was supposed to do the same thing. My network is tight security wise, and this Netgear Nighthawk CM2000 helped me realize that. Finally, I had to overcome one technical issue that I thought was generated by the CM2000. After registering my cable modem with Netgear, called tech support. Best dang support I've dealt with in a long time! From one geek to another, we were able to speak the same tech-ease and I learned more about my new CM2000 and the DOCSIS standard than I knew before the call. Found out that the CM2000 was not the culprit, so I called the ISP to handle it, problem resolved. The one setback for Netgear that I thought was serious enough to mention is that as far as firmware upgrades there seems to be tit-for-tat between Netgear and this particular ISP. Either group seems to point the finger at the other when it comes to whose responsibility it is to push out firmware upgrades. I hope, for customers' sake, that these two outfits work out their differences on this. Heavens forbid that there is a security vulnerability that requires a firmware upgrade! I shiver to think about that outcome. Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase.

I called xfinity and they said it was an issue with NetGear modem and transferred me to them. I waited on hold over an hour and there was nothing the guy could do. Once I returned it and got a Motorola modem (which was $70 cheaper) it connected immediately and I’ve had no problems.

It is a shame that mediacom, my isp, doesn't provide the service that utilizes all this modems capability, but still, I am very satisfied with its performance. I connect this modem to an ASUS AX11000 router with an AI Mesh configuration with over 40 devices. Everything works as desired. I recommend this modem for those who desire seemless operations on your network.

Netgear’s support has been horrible about issuing a warranty replacement. The warranty replacement process is a joke, I’m assuming to discourage customers from trying to complete it vs buying another product. Currently waiting on the warranty replacement, paying shipping, to likely receive a used / refurbished (vs new) model that I have zero confidence of not breaking again again within a year.

The warranty replacement process is a joke, for a used device that I have zero confidence will not just break again. The support staff is horrendous, leaves you on hold for extremely long periods of time (probably so you’ll hang up and buy a new device), tries to push buying a protection plan vs standing behind their product, and charges shipping for a used device (probably already sent back for being broken), and then further delays replacement asking for more info not covered in the first call. Do not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Cable modem I've ever had I am not a pro but I know my way around IT. I purchased this modem after having a netgear CM-700 for years with no issues at all. The CM-2000 set up quickly and I had much faster internet downloads and slightly faster uploads. After a few days it had a blinking red light indicating my connection was only 100 mbps. No problem, checked the logs did a reset and it was fine. Few days later the same thing. This has been going on for months, now the thing just freezes and doesn't connect at all. Netgear tech support says it's the ISP (spectrum), the ISP says it's the modem and so I've gone about 3 laps through tech support hell before I gave up. Cable modems are the part of a network that should just work. This thing is awful. Crazy fast when it works for the few hours a week it actually does it's job but I plan to swap it out for another brand ASAP. Non stop error codes, quite literally 6 pages of errors every day or so. Don't waste your time.

I had a little trouble with setup so called their customer support line and got Neal. Despite some hardware limitations on our end he was quickly able to determine it was user error and by allowing a slightly longer shutdown of the router connected to the modem we were up and running. It’s been great since then which is what I expected from Netgear!

The tech determined that it could possibly be the coax cable from the wall and even requested to be called back when ISP tech came to fix it. Once fixed, this product has been blazing fast and notice a difference in speeds while connected to wifi. I would definitely recommend this product and their tech support.

Writers at tech mags touted its power, capability, and NetGear’s reputation for high quality. Thus, I didn’t mind investing if the I’m getting the best. The problem - it isn’t the best for the price point. Hardware has failed a little after the 1yr warranty. Apparently, other people had it worse than me. Obviously, I was happy when it was working, I’m upset only after a year the hardware failed. For this price, although 1yr warranty is industry standard, I expected better from NetGear. I’ve been without a modem for a week with good faith they will return my call and rectify this issue. I hope NetGear see this as a company shortcoming and will want to do right by its customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Speeds Was debating to upgrade my TP-Link-modem for a while. I had no issues with my previous modem working fine. Just had to made decision if I wanted to get wifi 6. And had to go with NETGEAR Nighthawk CM2000 and it didn’t disappoint. Works as described with my fast internet. Online gaming, streaming and working from home all devices connect with no issues at all. Highly recommend for all or any type of speeds on your internet service.

It was easy to set up (except for issues with my ISP, but that’s another story and works splendidly with the Nighthawk router I purchased at the same time.

This modem performs very well and just like the RAXE300, the design of this is very futuristic-military stealth like; Almost like an F-35! I would 10/10 recommend any Netgear products to anybody looking into upgrading their WiFi setup. RAXE300 CM2000

The speed is much better and WiFi with the CM2000 modem and the RAXE300 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router. The 2.5 Gbps Ultra-High Speed is great! I would recommend this combination to all friends and family, actually to anybody!

It performed very well over the years, but recently was not keeping up with the latest speed enhancements from my cable provider. It was a no-brainer to stay with Nergear and upgrade to the CM2000. Set-up was extremely easy. The new cable modem has performed extremely well. My speeds have increased significantly. Even with the same router, I am getting much better performance. I will get a little more life out of my router with the new CM2000. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frustrated. Reset reset reset. I bought this on Black Friday directly from Netgear online. Immediately failed and could not get to connect. Reset reset reset. No matter what i did it continually resets. My trusty Arris SB8200 worked fine before I tried the CM2000. Thank god it connected immediately when I re-initiated it to my network after the CM2000 failure. Working with Comcast and Netgear used up 1.5 days of my time going back and forth, eaxh saying its each other’s fault. Finally got a Comcast technician who said I have a perfect signal and you got a lemon of a CM2000. Now back to Netgear being told (we need more information) before they will replace this for me. Frustrated. In the futur I will always buy on Amazon so i can return lemons immediately. I have no such recourse with Netgear online. Back to finding time again to call Netgear support as if I have so much time to deal with this working full time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highest Speed from Comcast My Comcast internet tier was upgraded to 1.2Gbps. I purchased the CM2000 to take advantage of the increased speed. Set up was a breeze with the support of a Comcast agent (to update their records) and then the use of the Xfinity app (to complete the set-up). I am now getting over 1Gpbs download (at the modem) with upload of 40Mbs. Highly recommend this modem. My next step is to upgrade my router to NetGear Nighthawk AXE11000 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router to improve Wifi coverage and speed.

XFinity sent out a bulletin that this Netgear device does not support their 1Gb service. Had to go rent their XB8 gateway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts off fast but runs out of steam Immediately after a reboot, this modem delivers the full 500 Mbps of my cable connection but eventually throttles back to 30 Mbps. Currently working with Netgear tech support to resolve but no luck yet. The 9 year old Linksys modem that this replaced performed better. Have responded to 4 requests for additional test results from Netgear including switching to a CAT6 cable, connecting modem directly to my computer, connecting directly to a second computer, screen shots of status info, etc.
