Most were giving me 500 MPS and i am paying for 800 MPS. This one is giving me 975 MPS when tested from Xfinity tech. and two other testing sites. Best buy made for a modem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Fast Setup and Operation This is an ideal Modem to replace the Xfinity one. I have a Netgear AX-120 Router which provides WIFi and DHCP. Using this modem means that Bridge Mode is not needed. There is one simple WAN connection to the Router. The Set-up menus are clear and installation was fast. If you have a separate Router, then this is a much better solution than buying a Modem/Router with WiFi where Bridge Mode must be implemented. Works great and DOCSIS 3.1 delivers GB download speeds.

The most I was able to get over Wi-Fi was 520 when next to the wifi router. Xfinity service came out and verified that the modem was putting out over one gig. I changed to the Netgear 2.5 gig modem as I had added Xfinity voice and I am still using the ASUS Wi-Fi router. My average wifi download speed immediately increased 300 GB to over 700. No idea why but quite happy with the upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Best Modem for Xfinity Voice As part of my Xfinity Triple Play package I got "gigabit intenet" with up to 1200Mpps (when using ethernet. This was last summer but I only had a DOCSIS 3.0 Arris Modem. Last week I got the Netgear CM2050V DOCSIS 3.1 Modem. WOW... my ethernet and wifi speeds skyrocketed. Ethernet went from 250 to 940Mbps for my iMac and Apple TV 4K, WiFi on iPad Pro. (5th Gen) went from 170 to 315 Mbps, iPhone Xs WiFi went from 75 range up to 330 Mbps. For comparison speeds were taken from the same location relative to my wifi router on the same day within a couple hours of each other. I set up the Netgear modem with the Xfinity App on my iPhone. It was super easy. Start to finish less than 30 minutes it was up and running. Super happy with the Netgear Modem. I use an Apple Time Capsule as my router. No problems with compatibility. Someday I may switch to a Netgear WiFi 6 router.

He showed me the back of this Nighthawk's box that it says it needs a router

Once installed, the speeds have been incredible. Speedtest runs have us at or slightly higher than the Xfinity plan we have for downloads!

Love the shape of the unit smaller and looks sharp. Up and down loads were noticeably better. I have voice and the line is clear. I would recommend to anyone to change. Worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Depends on Provider Speed (1150V vs 2050V) I had the Netgear CM1150V cable modem and kept getting emails from my provider (Comcast) that my modem wasn't taking advantage of the speeds being sent to me in my plan. My plan is just under one Gbps, and the CM1150V handled it well. But, since speed was close to the limit of the modem, I upgraded to this CM2050V cable modem. First physical thing I noticed it was smaller and lighter compared to the 1150V, and was less warm (assuming it doesn't pull as much power, those same input adapter). For me, I'm finding, both modems for my internet plan (under 1 Gbps) perform identically the same. They both work very well for data and voice, both DOCSIS 3.1, both voice capable, but the 2050V does not provide me anything that I didn't have before. I'm sure if my plan download speed was over 1 Gbps, then the CM 2050V modem would be an advantage. Don't notice any difference between the two modems for performance at provider speeds under 1 Gbps. Specs for both modems seem about the same, except for the higher port input speed of 2.5 Gbps in the CM2050V, vs the 1 Gbps in the CM1150V. Point is, if you're using the CM1150V, and your data plan is under 1 Gbps, no reason to upgrade yet. I guess I have a back-up modem now. However, you can't go wrong with either modem. Both perform and work excellent, and my 1150V is over 3 years old with no issues.

Registering can be quick and easy if you use the Comcast net Xfinity app on your cell phone. You can log into your account and register your serial number.

Cost was somewhat high but it will pay for itself in about 18 months (xfinity charges $14 per month to rent theirs. I’m very happy and would recommend.

Since getting a CM2050V several weeks ago, we have not had to recycle at all. Now we have steady dependable service. Turns out our old modem did not have the capacity to handle 1200 mps.

The Xfinity modem it replaced needed frequent reboots, and this one is much faster. My only complaint is that the installation did not go as smoothly as the instructions suggested, but Xfinity was able to help me get it going.

My current Comcast modem has 4 ports built in plus the wifi. Just know that going in. While Comcast charges 14 to 19 a month for the rental on theirs, this will for the first year basically be a cost per month to own of $22 a month.

With the help of a technician, we pinpointed the modem as the weak spot. I went online and purchased the Netgear CM2050V. My first speed test showed 960mbs. Since it is my own, I pay no monthly rental fees to comcast.

We paired the Nighthawk with the Orbi and our internet connects to everything we need it to. Would Highly Recommend getting the Nighthawk CM2050V.

I replaced it with the NETGEAR Nighthawk 2.5Gbps Internet Speed Cable Modem with Voice (CM2050V) and have been delighted with both NETGEAR's customer service and the outstanding performance of the modem. My download and upload speeds have almost doubled. Also, it works flawlessly with my new router. Please note that this modem model has only one ethernet outlet port. If you want multiple ethernet outlets, please choose one of NETGEAR's fine modem/router combo products. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best decision for Xfinity Voice I should have done it along time ago, I am no longer a hostage to Comcast and they're $16 a month for the Gateway. I get much faster speeds, what I am paying for I finally get! I haven't had to reboot the system since installing it, I was doing it about three times a day with the Xfinity Gateway. If you have an Xfinity Voice plan don't forget you need to get this modem or you will lose your service even if you don't use the telephone. My only regret, not doing this two years ago.

Wasted two weeks trying to find out from advanced repair (the black hole of Comcast) to no avail. The CM2050v does not need the link aggregation for speeds over 1GB, so problem solved.

Net gear refuses to take responsibility and now I am stuck with this horrible modem. Renting was far better

If you’re in the upper tiers of what the cables companies can deliver over coax with voice, get this cable modem. Don’t bother with the other vendors or the rhetoric from the cables companies. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ditch your Xfinity Gateway I only wish that I had made the switch sooner, for the first time I am actually getting what I paid for in regards to my Internet speed, to tell you the truth it seems to be a little bit faster. I haven't needed to reset or reboot my modem yet since I changed over from the Xfinity gateway. I am a paralyzed veteran so my whole house is smart and I really rely on technology, previously I was resetting xfinitys Gateway three times a day just to get my plan speed or so that it would actually work. Now I am no longer paying Xfinity rent for a piece of junk that doesn't work. The speed from this modem and my wireless router together absolutely crush what I was getting before. I have had zero issues I totally recommend making the switch, you have to remember if you have a voice plan you need to get a modem with voice or you will lose your deal even if you do not use the phone. This is the obvious choice.

I decided to go proactive by purchasing the Nighthawk 2.5 Gbps Cable Modem. Now I'm prepared to easily handle multiple upgrades when they occur. My wife likes to stay living in the stone age era by iinsisting on retaining a landline. Selections become more limited when searching for modems with Voice compatibilty. Was so happy to find The Nighthawk CM2050V is compatible. The modem is super easy to install and I'm very satisfied with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to ISP cable modem I was looking for a solution to replace my Xfinity cable modem. I had two requirements. I need the land line service and I wanted to make sure that the internet bandwidth had room to grow. I did not want to have to upgrade anytime soon. I did a lot of research and ultimately decided on the CM2050V because it checked all the boxes at a reasonable price. Fortunately it was on sale when I made my final decision. Installation was very easy and I had it all connected and working in probably about 30 minutes. I will share a tip if you are moving from the ISPs gateway to your own equipment. One thing I learned in years of working in IT is don't make too many changes at the same time. So what I did was put the ISPs gateway in bridge mode first. That allowed me to make sure that my router worked correctly without changing out the cable modem. I let that run for a couple days and then swapped out the cable modem. That way if I had a problem I most likely knew which box the problem was in.

We have it connected to the Orbi 960 system and it works beautifully. We don’t subscribe to the voice services, but it’s nice to know we have that capability with this modem if we decide to get the voice service in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from will not work with xfinity false advertising I got a cm2050v to replace my Xfinity cable modem, that was the biggest mistake of my life, I was on the phone with Xfinity and netgear for 12 hours straight and at the end no one could get it to work even it says it is compatible with Xfinity which is a lie, that is why I was on the phone for 12 hours, netgear makes pure junk and sells it at a high price to steel your money and give you junk that will never work. I have had my fill with netgear and I will never purchase a netgear item again. They have false advertising on the box of the cm2050v saying it will work with Xfinity and trust me after 12 hours on the phone I am done with netgear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great and was simple to use et's all remember, this is a modem. It's not a router. For me, that's good as I have a router/firewall device on the other side. Because it's a modem, its sole job is to pass through the single DHCP address from Xfinity. Configuration is pretty simple, you plug it in. From there you have to hook up a laptop/desktop to it to get into its local config so you can get the MAC to send to Xfinity, then that's pretty much it. A few gotchas though. I have multiple VLANs setup in different rooms and I put this on a VLAN from the switch. It did not like that. It couldn't pass the IP address back to my firewall/router. I didn't spend too much time troubleshooting it, rather I just added a coaxial wire to the room where my firewall is located (which has a service panel close to the coaxial main). The product has worked well for what I need. I haven't noticed a decrease in performance over the old Xfinity modem/router/WiFi combo. I bought this because my Xfinity device died, and I have my own WiFi (Orbi), and I also have a complex 2 ISP configuration, which cannot be easily managed with the Xfinity router. The dumb modem allows me to solve most of my problems. The above was posted on Amazon. I did run into one issue, not with the modem, with the service. Xfinity actually charges you more for using your own hardware than renting theirs. It's unfortunate. The device is great and I will pay the extra $5 per month (instead of saving $14 as expected). When they reconfigured the plan I went from 80mbps up to 40mbps up. This isn't the device, because I was getting really great upload speeds prior to having them change the plan to include the customer-owned hardware. They said it was the hardware, but the hardware ran fine for a week. It turns out they throttled it and you have to call them and argue through it with them. This is important information because it's not the device, it's the service levels on their side, so if you see things that don't look correct after it's setup and verified, then it's probably on their side.

Absolutely ridiculous given the price point

Modem failed after 10 months but have an RMA for it in progress, which is a decent warranty support. I bought another one as I needed the service back, but now I will have a known spare which is always good.

I hit a small snag where xifnity couldnt register is because the mac address was still assigned to another customer in another region. They stated that this happens when Netgear recycles old mac addresses. I was concerned at first but it was sorted in under an hour on the phone with xfinity support.

This Netgear modem was easy to install replacing my older one. I did have to contact Xfinity to help push the signal so I could use it. The xfinity app wouldn't do it and couldn't find it on it's own. It's been working great and my speed has increased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need More Gigs I have this modem that I use for my Xfinity internet service. I have a RAXE 500 Router, along with the matching Nighthawk extender. Xfinity now offers 10 G speed, but I can't get it because they tell me this modem will not handle it. Xfinity also offers 4K cable TV, but because I don't have their modem (even though I have a Denon 8k receiver and a Samsung 8K TV), I can't even upgrade to their new cable box. I have even thought of changing my router from the RAXE 500, to the new Orbi, but what good is it if you don't make a matching modem to handle it? If I have to pay to get Xfinity's modem/router, then why do I need any of your equipment at all? I'm all for having my own equipment and saving money by not renting equipment from Xfinity (of course that is after I pay off the money for buying your equipment). Not to mention, that I prefer having your equipment above anyone else's, but don't you think that the modem should be as powerful as the router?

The modem would work for about 24hrs and then would loose connection. Tech said that it was something on xfinity's end and would have to contact them, so I did, their tech said it was Netgear's problem. To resolve the problem I installed a modem from Xfinity and I have had internet ever since, so I think that the problem is with the Nighthawk CM2050V modem.

I had used another company's router, but I could not get it to work with my Apple TV or my internet service provider's modem. I bought the the CM 2000 modem and the Orbi 860 Series Tri-Band WiFi 6 Mesh System, 3-Pack. I have at least 7 Amazon alexas connected to it as well. I have about 5500 square feet, including a basement. This system is a beast. I am not great with computers, but each step clear and easy to follow. My mailbox is about 50 yards away, and the signal is as if it were right next to my Orbi routers. I love this system! Thank you Netgear!!!

BUT I worked with FOUR different Xfinity techs on TWO different CM 2050Vs and none of them could get either to work. They were all nice and tried and tried. I'm back to the rented Xfinity modem because my wife works from home and we must have the connection. I’m ready to GIVE UP on these Netgear CM2050Vs! The second one just flickers now when it’s connected, as if it shorted itself out. Awful, awful experience when I thought it would be a simple install of upgraded equipment.

Fairly easy set-up, although the out of the box instructions did not work as well as the Comcast-Xfinity App. Works well with my Comcast-Xfinity internet service, and supports Comcast-Xfinity phone service as well. Pays for itself in 2 years versus renting. The output from the modem goes to an Orbi router mesh system I just purchased (You will need a separate router).

I did a lot of research before deciding on the nighthawk . I also went to a seperate router and bought the NetGear web router . Combined I have the perfect system throughout my house . Easy to install and works like a charm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Modem but Phone Lines No Good for RCN As a buyer, I'm uncomfortable seeing the name of a competing internet service provider on the actual tech product I'm considering. Looks like a thing that will only work with Company X. But I did a LOT more (time-consuming) research to be sure the Netgear Nighthawk CM2050v would be the modem to grow into, even if I discontinue my RCN phone/internet service and want to keep my landline and fax phone line with another ISP. It wasn't plug-and-play, as one of the video reviews would suggest. I'm not sure how that person plugged it in and had it interface with her ISP and router with no phonecall to her ISP. There's a MAC number on the unit that needs to be reported to your service provider in order to get it running. (Maybe if you're with Company X, you don't need to call it in?) Alas, the phone agent at my ISP ultimately bailed and scheduled me for an in-home appointment. After a lot of household disruption, this cable modem works as well as to be expected within the bounds of what I pay for at RCN. There was an initial internet outage that lasted an entire overnight (which isn't usually our experience, which is defined by frequent but brief interruptions). So I got nervous when already I was having to recycle the power on this thing and start over. But as some of the other reviews indicated, that might happen at the outset, then after that, smooth sailing. I'm disappointed that I still have to rent a separate RCN modem just for the landline phone and fax machine. But I'm so pleased there are companies still providing landline service so I can keep these amenities in my home office. I can also send a fax digitally, sure, but it's such a convenience to send/receive faxes out of the same box that makes copies, scans, and color print jobs, so why not keep my fax line, too? Company X does warn on their product that though there are two phone lines indicated, you'd need to paying for a 2-line package in order to use both. At this point, those lights remain dark because I'm not using them. Glad I got this for the same price as a no-phone Nighthawk unit of the same caliber thanks to a sale at the time of purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New NETGEAR Modem purchased. The CM2050V modem was easy to set up. Purchase using NETGEAR's website was easy and informative of the modem's characteristics and speed. I needed it to be compatible with my server and capable of connecting for a phone line. I thought the modem would enable the faster speeds advertised, but 330 Mbps is not shabby as I noticed during Internet Speed Tests. All working well. FYI: I have a NETGEAR router as well. Thank you NETGEAR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor performance I purchased this model to replace and older voice modem but so far I can only get speeds of 0.4 gbps which is half the speed of my old modem and have 1.2gbps xfinity service. Also setup was a complete nightmare and had to get xfinity tech support to set it up. My previous modem was a piece so easy. I will give it a few more days to troubleshoot but if I cannot get better speed back to my old modem.

The instructions were easy to understand. Have been using this modem about a week with no issues. The speed of our connections has definitely improved. Highly recommend the Nighthawk CM2050V

Replaced my previous ARRIS SURFboard (which was running without an issue after finding out it does not support the bandwidth of internet I have been paying for 8-) NETGEAR Nighthawk performs superb so far, nice build, and does not take more space (relatively) than SURFboard. Definitely recommend it to anyone with confidence.

Followed the included instructions and was up and running in 10 minutes. Netgear has done it again with a great modem allowing me to save money and not rent one from ISP.

Netgear said it was xfinity problem. Eventually I ended up using the xfinity gateway and it worked. I have returned and reordered a the modem to see if it was a defective device but am very disappointed

Comcast "forgot" to disable my old modem and enable this new one over the phone, but the tech that came out got it going immediately. Assured me this modem is great and, after several weeks, I agree. No issues. VOI (phone is great. Hope it lasts for years, like my old NETGEAR.

I am really happy with the bump in speed from my old Motorola MB8600 on Gigabit service speed. The new Netgear 2050V has boosted my download speed from 940 MBPS to 1186 MBPS. Also the connection seems to be stronger with no errors showing in the connection log.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from upgraded Xfiniti modem/router so far so good. had some challenges getting xfiniti to register/set it up right. make sure you give them both the MAC and TMAC addresses. the TMAC address was not on the box. had to pull it off the bottom. once all that got straight everything has been working well.

I only wished that there was a slot for backup Lithium battery for power outages. It is a voice modem (for telephone, after all.

I feel like there is a lack of diagnostics and information. As far as I can tell, there is no way to find out what speed your provider is connecting at (speed tests are all over the place. This is the only product approved for Xfinity provide your own modem for 1G service. Time will tell...

I had old Netgear giga wifi router that I also needed tech support on however to take advantage of higher speeds and Netgear required me to pay for a one year ($100) of tech support to help with legacy router. Tech subscription is a general subscription that can be used also for non Netgear products.

I decided to try buying this Netgear Nighthawk modem along with the Netgear Orbi 6E router. Now I have a great Wi-Fi signal throughout my house and so far, no signal dropouts and no more occasional buffering on my devices.

NETGEAR is working on a software update that should fix the problem. Because the update may not be available for several months, we have taken steps in the interim to stabilize your connection and provide you with the best possible experience. These proactive measures should resolve your intermittent connectivity issues and provide you with fast speeds, but your modem may not achieve the full upstream speeds included in your Xfinity Internet package until the NETGEAR CM2050V software update is deployed."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great when it works Enabling the CM2050V modem via the Xfininity app is super easy. Download speeds on wired connections were over 1,000Mbps. Wireless around 500... almost double what I'm getting from the rented Xfinity modem. Seemed too good to be true. Then about a month after purchase, I would lose internet, requiring a reboot of the modem. After reboot, everything is fine. This happens about every 5-10 days. Xfinity says it's a Netgear problem, since I'm not renting their modem. Netgear says it's an Xfinity problem. Search either the Xfinity or Netgear forums. This is a well documented issue. After about 5 months, the second phone line stopped working. I've been going back and forth with both Xfinity and Netgear to resolve it. Both phone lines work fine when connected to Xfinity's modem, but not the CM2050V. So, to summarize, when it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's garbage.

Got a bulletin from xFinity saying this modem had an issue and is not compatible with xFinity and that Netgear is working on the fix. It has been months and my paid 1200 mbs service is only coming through at 140 MBps. I would pass on this for now. After arguing with xFinity they are finally giving me their gateway modem for free until Netgear gets their act together to fix it. There is no timeline for this, even.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New cable modem Our old modem, was at EOL due to it not supporting new network standards. We replaced, vs renting from the cable provider. The installation should have been simple, I needed to contact the cable company so they could update the MAC Address. 3.5 hours later, plus netgear support, determined, it was a MAC address issue with the cable company. Everything works well, except I noticed I have 39 devices on the router, so next phase upgrade the router to handle more devices. All of my newer appliances want wifi connections, plus everything else, including the 1 car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I now have Netgear Xfinity modem, separate Netgear router and a Netgear extender. They replaced Xfinity rental modem/router. No amount of telephone contact could get the Xfinity equiplent to work. Several hours of SMS chat with Xfinity got the Netgear modem working. The router and extender setup with the Nighthawk app was seamless. Speed tests show a dramatic improvement between Xfinity rental equipment and Netgear. I've been paying for 600 mbs for years and never got more than 250 mbs download. With Netgear the measure of download is 700 mbs on the Nighthawk app speed test and 260 on OpenSignal app? I use Opensignal app for speed tests. With Xfinity modem/rounter many apps and devices stopped working. Everything now works. I have the 200 page router PDF user manual on my iPad. I shall go through it to see what I can do with the router. The network disk drive looks interesting. I need to know more about Netgear Armour before I try it. I will look for the documentation. I have Apple iPhones, Ipad, Apple TV, Windows 7 and 10 computers, Android cell phone, Samsung Android A7 tablet and a Sonicdust HDHomerun ATSC 3.0 OTA TV tuner on my home network. All are now working. I could not say this for the Xfinity modem/router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two Defective Units in a row Two defective units in a row, claimed to be supported by my cable provider but they could never get it activate. If you want a home phone, you're better off doing voice through a VOIP provider and doing internet only if you're in the Optimum service area. Netgear first claimed they supported this modem for any cable provider and later backpedaled when they couldn't get it to work saying it's only certified for Xfinity. Optimum claims it's officially supported but couldn't get it to work both times claiming the modem was defective.

The DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem (CM2050V has a built-in voice modem which now saves a $50 per month fee by using a single line.
