Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good when it works I bought 17 of these printers for my school to replace old Dell 1700 laserjets. The lack of an ethernet port was accidentally overlooked, but we had refreshed the wifi system, so we moved forward with the m102w. The printers don't have an option to shut the sleep mode off, and sometimes didn't wake properly. A firmware update seems to have helped it to a degree, but the response is usually to turn the wifi back on or restart the printer. One unit recently decided to start shredding the right side of anything it printed. Been a big fan of HP, but this one misses the mark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice fast home printer Easy to set up and install, doesn't take up much space, prints fast (not quite as fast as an office printer though). Quality of print is sharp and it stays online for me all the time except when I unplug it and plug it back in if I have to move it to another room - but then just push a button and your back online quickly. I have not had any issues as the other reviews suggest. However, I also bought a new HP laptop a month before I got this printer. I had issues with my old laptop (7years old) and new printers. I really like this printer for heavier home printing and would recommend it to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not really a Wireless printer Bought this last year and have struggled with it since I got it. Should have returned it immediately but thought I would keep trying. It loses connectivity constantly, I have to reboot the printer almost every time I want to print. I have given up on wireless printing and just connect the wire to my laptop which defeats the entire purpose of why I bought this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not up to snuff I purchased the M102 to replace my P1102. The M102 is dog compared to P1102, slow and stops during print jobs. P1102 was a champ like all the other HP printers I have purchased over the years (11+). Not so much with the M102. I purchased the M102 because it was touted as a professional grade printer. It does not match my old P1102, which was a personal printer. A very substandard HP product. I have never been unhappy with and HP printer in the past, including the 5th All In One we purchased last month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't like product I buy all HP products, PC's Laptops for home and my business, Also HP Printers. I got this on and I hate it. I can not find out what the drum is for and how often you would have to change, Has printer cartilage and don't see how to change and when . Obviously when it needs ink. But do I have to change drum? very expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Product, Installation Is a Disaster Once I got the printer installed, it worked acceptably, except that it will not print #6 3/4 envelopes from the Word 2010 Envelopes tool, no matter what I do. This seems like something that should just be a matter of course. The big problem is that installation to run via USB port was extremely difficult. None of the documented procedures in the material shipped with the printer worked. The installation claimed it completed successfully, but the list of printers on my Windows 7 machine showed the printer with a big yellow exclamation mark, and right clicking the icon for it showed that the computer was unable to recognize that the device was even a printer. After multiple attempts, I looked up the problem online and found a third-party user forum that described a procedure involving a manual installation using the Windows 7 add-a-printer procedure and searching the Temp files created by past install attempts to find the drivers from the earlier failed install attempts. That produced a working printer. My online searches show that this problem has been around since early 2017, so I cannot fathom why HP has not fixed it. After this bad experience and others with prior printers, I am starting to question HP's commitment to the small/home office market, and I hesitate to recommend their printers, despite having used them happily for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Workhorse Great printer for the price. Easy set-up. WIFI and iPrinting works perfectly. Reasonable fast print speed. I have an older version of this printer for 5 years. I print 4000 sheets/year. No jams, no problems, no cartridges that dry out, no losing of IP addresses, works every time. Love, love, love this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Little Laser for the Money While lacking some features like copy & scan, this does exactly what I need it to do. Small size is very convenient. Had it communicating with all my computers, tablets, and phones in minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer Sucks - Never Buy It Papers get jammed when you print double side or multiple pages taken from the tray. Take too much time to connect through wireless. No interface to measure the toner level. We knows it only when it is closer to finish the cartridge. Utterly disappointed with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right size but slow in starting to print. LaserJet Pro M102w apparently has a small memory as it takes too long to start printing and also is slow between multiple pages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific printer I have been using my new printer for a few weeks now and I love it. HP people were very helpful in the set-up process, it is wireless and works flawlessly. It is compact so it doesn't take up as much room as my previous printer. I recommend it to people who just want to print black & white copies quickly, no muss, no fuss!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid inexpensive B&W wireless laser printer A bit quirky to set up. Use the HP "Print and Scan Doctor" application available at this printer's support web location. Also update the firmware, through the USB connection preferably. Has a toner and drum like the more expensive HPs. Toner does NOT need to be pulled out and 'uncovered' of any plastic strips. It is ready to go as shipped. Manual double-sided printing is easier than most as it has a slot just above the front paper tray (which has a handy cover to keep the dust off your paper). All-in-all a solid, small footprint, fast home-office printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for P1102w I bought this to replace an old HP LJ P1102w, which by the way is the best toner B/W I've used and owned in 10 years. HP replaced it with the LJ Pro M102w and it doesn't dissapoint. I love the new printer, it works great just like the old one. If it lasts after seriously use for years then I will be very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get something else - not worth your time As a systems guru, I generally know how to configure printers. This one is just WIERD - and it does not work with USB 3.0. The first two that I got were DOA out of the box - printed the test page but that was all. The third finally started to print, but has issues with the wireless. Changed the configuration to stay on (and not power itself off after 5 min), but it was still a problem. Tried to get HP tech support and was told "support is not available for this product" No wonder - if they did, hp would not have enough people! Sorry to say, but it is going back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noisy and semi-functional It sounds like it is grinding glass when it prints. I thought something was wrong when I bought it and brought it back to the store. They replaced it -- but the replacement also makes the same noise. It sounds like something is breaking inside the printer. It is also very temperamental and sometimes prints, but sometimes only prints the first 1/3 of the page and then restarts to print the whole thing. I had the earlier version of this printer and I loved it -- but this model is definitely not an improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking I got this for my 6 nieces and nephews during the age of COVID-19 and e learning. Hopefully with the ink supply and the amount of paper it holds it will be a great addition to their household and will help with getting projects completed on time. Looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up Bought this compact laser jet for home and rv use. Love it’s compact size and that the ink will not dry out, which was happening in the rv with our other printer (non laser jet). Fast and easy setup and instructions. Prints very fast and nice clean copy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If only I could get it to connect I’ve been struggling to set it up as wireless but gave up on that and connected it directly to my computer. No luck with this either. I’ll hire someone and suppose it’ll function eventually. I do little printing and that’s good because this is a very light and rather flimsy machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every single one we have broke within 6 months We bought a number of these to replace the old 1102 series printers and every single one broke down within 6 months despite being used far less than the old 1018s and 1102s were. There are two "ink cartridges" (the ink and drum are separate) instead of the usual one piece design and after a while the cartridges won't stay in place and pop open the door every time it tries to print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Printer I bought this printer about a month ago and it is a very good printer. Easy to setup. The only thing that I'm not happy with is that it not compatible with older operating systems. I have an old XP computer that I print a lot from and I can't use this printer. All new printers should be compatible with all older operating systems. After all, all you're doing is printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Features I bought this a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised to received a small and light weight package. The print quality is exceptional just as expected from HP. Wireless printing is a nice touch. Only complaint is that it randomly stops printing during the printing process. Other than that, it works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Firmware update and now its dead. After updating the Firmware for my Laser Jet Pro M102w, it stopped working. Both my Mac and PC recognize it as HP Laserjet 3020. Green light is blinking.  So after this I have been reading that many people have had this issue and it seems that my printer is now dead. This is not right for HP to put a firmware update out on their sever that bricks your printer! And of course I am out of warranty and have received NO HELP from HP. And now I have to buy a new printer? NOT and HP!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IT'S OKAY printer works fine. I think it's a little slow processing to print. Very dissapointed when I got the low ink warning and went to change the cartridge only to find that the one they were promoting with the printer was a drum and not a ink catridge. (guess I need to read more when purchasing) would not have bought it had I know it needed the drum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good choice for a no-frills laser printer. We needed a black & white printer for an employee kiosk. Something inexpensive but dependable. Printer works great for this purpose. Driver installation was problematic. Neither I nor any other tech on our IT team could get the software to install. Eventually had to contact HP and have one of their techs remote in and complete the software installation. Lost a day of labor hours troubleshooting. Never discovered if the issue was the PC or a poorly written driver. Regardless of the installation headaches, we will purchase this model again as the need arises.
