I like that this printer is small in design and can sit on my desk without taking up a lot of room. It packs a big punch for a small unit. The pages come out quick and automatically prints double sided to save paper. You are provided the option to install their app so that you can troubleshoot, print, scan, copy, etc. all from your smartphone. The only feature I wish it had was the option to print in color. Other than that, I am pleased with this device and would definitely recommend to a friend or colleague.

Prints fast and is cheap. So if that’s what you’re looking for it will work. But if you want to read what you print I’d stay away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New HP LaserJet I received the HP LaserJet 234dwe in exchange for my unbiased opinion and review of the product. Upon receiving the new printer I opened the box and set it up. All was very intuitive to me and all that was needed was included in the box (except the network cable, which I always have extras handy). I connected the printer to my network and set it up to print wireless. It was immediately recognized by my devices and I registered the product.The compact size of the printer made me question the quality as I was used to larger models of HP Laser printers or All-in-One printers. I initially sat the printer on my desk as I used/learned more about it (where it still sits now because it`s really quite small in scale). To my surprise, the printer is quite powerful and perfect for my home office usage. The only thing I have noticed about the printer is that it`s a little loud, but to be fair - I have never had a printer on my desk - usually on a back credenza or an under the desk cart. In my new work from home set-up I am finding myself working a little differently and this was noticed when I print while on a call or something. I doubt it is any louder than others - just more on my new set-up.

After a few prints it stopped printing and I was told that an error had occurred and I could not print. Things like this did not happen with my old printer. I do not have time to trouble shoot a brand new printer.

The HP Smart software helped with the installation and connection. This product is a very good printer for just black and white. It prints very fast. The only problem I could see with this item is the actual setup of what to remove from the printer when you first set it up. The instructions for someone who isn`t very familiar with computers or printers - may not know where to look for all the tabs to remove along with how to install the top of the paper tray

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working great once all setup Unit was replacing a much older inkjet HP All-in-One unit that is stand-alone in an office and is mainly used for copying IDs. It works wonderfully for this purpose and is much more efficient considering it's a laser printer w/toner vs inkjet ink cartridges. The only reason for 4/5 stars was that I found it a little cumbersome to NOT have any setup options on the unit itself - you have to do that online. That meant the printer had to be connected to our network. And you have to complete the setup in order to use the unit properly - you can't skip it. Our WiFi was available so I got that configured on the unit (via the online app and connecting ethernet to the unit temporarily) and we were all set. It was easy enough to get done eventually but given that this is a stand-alone printer that wasn't meant to be on our network - it made the setup a bit more complicated then I am accustomed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer -disappointed with setup, pdf only Although this is a GREAT printer, I took stars away for the following: -Setup of this printer required hardwiring to the Ethernet AND contacting support 2x for them to FIRST download updates (total 3 hours of time) -It only prints pdf documents from WITHIN the HP Smart app I am glad to finally be connected to print but I can never regain the time lost. And had I known that I could only print pdfs, I would have considered another device or even another company. With that being said, this printer is a printing beast. It's the best printer I've ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer for home business needs The HP LaserJet 234dwe is a very nice option for business printing needs. Relatively to other laser printers, it has a sleek, compact look that fits nicely in a home office. It prints very quickly from computer or mobile phone. Set up was extremely intuitive and quick. I always struggle with online scanning interfaces, particularly when they are accessed through an IP address. My home network often needs to be reset and the IP address changes. The HP Smart app solves all that and is next gen in terms of ease of use. Printing, scanning and faxing can all be controlled through the app, along with supply ordering and even scanning receipts for expense reports directly to Google drive and other online folders. The smart app is definitely what makes this printer unique.The lid to the platen glass can stick a little bit if not lowered completely straight. This is really minor, though. I don`t do a lot of copying, so it`s a nonfactor for me. My only real complaint is there is not a document feeder. This makes scanning multiple page documents cumbersome. If you are mostly using it for printing and single page scanning, this is a nice little unit.

All family members AND friends who come to our house can print easily. The wireless printing is beyond amazing and convenient. We can print from our phones or laptops or tablets so easily! When I think of HP, I think of them as a tech leader and they have not disappointed. It doesn`t take up a lot of room. Very sleek design.

When i opened the package i was happy to see the size of the printer was perfect to fit below my desk in my home office. The directions walked me step by step on how to set up the printer along with connecting my Wi-Fi and also connecting it to my phone and any other device i would want to print from. IT also comes with 6 months of free toner if you sign up for their printing package which you can unsubscribe from at any time. So far I have printed over 20 pages without any issue. This saves me a lot of time, instead of having to drive to the office to print out documents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is quiet. I purchased the M234dwe about a week ago and I cannot keep it connected to my wifi network. I have a 15 year old boy that would play on his computer 24/7 if I let him. I sometimes have to turn off the wifi or change the wifi password to get him off his computer. This print will not reconnect to the network automatically. My last printer, another HP, had no problem reconnecting. I have to manually reconnect it and there seeming is no set way to do this. Every time that I have manually reconnected this printer to my wifi network has been different. Plus, even when the printer says it is connected, the light on the front is a solid light blue and the wifi signal on the home screen is not blinking, the software says that it cannot find the printer. But it will print. And another annoyance, when I am trying to reinstall the printer, the directions ask if the printer has a touch screen, the M234dwe does have a screen, it has a 1 inch by 1 inch postage stamp of a screen, but it is not a touch screen, but when you click the button for “no”, you get taken to a screen that says to connect the printer to your computer by a USB cord – the M234dwe does not have a connection for any type of cable!! In fact, where the USB cord might be connected, it has a sticker covering it with a picture of a USB cord in a circle with a line across it. So it is back to where you get asked if the printer has a touch screen and if you answer “yes”, the directions provided are useless, since the M234dwe does not have a touch screen. What I have been able to print with this printer looks good and it is quiet. That is the best I can praise this printer. I am returning this printer.

The installation with the HP site was fairly easy. There were a few steps that needed to be followed, but directions were very clear. It prints very well and fast. You don`t have to wait long at all for the wireless connection to send through the document and the printer prints fast and very efficiently. It compares very well with other similar printers. It meets all my expectations that I had for a home office printer. I would love if it had a color option, but knew if did not from the start. Overall I would give this printer a 9.5 out of 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my needs! This printer is perfect for my needs! I have been working from home due to the pandemic and needed a printer to print and review documents. I didn`t need a color printer so black and white works fine for me. The configuration process was a bit confusing and the printer initially jammed when I tried to print for the first time but I got it working and I was printing within 30 minutes of unboxing. It`s been working great ever since. I`m happy that it takes up less space than my old printer and I`m thrilled with the WiFi connection which my old printer did not have. I`ve even been able to print from my phone which is a nice benefit. The printer speed and quality are great. I like having the scan and copy features which will come in handy. I also like the 2-sided printing to save paper. I would definitely recommend this to anybody that needs a reliable all-in-one printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far,So Good Setup using the HP Smart App on my iPhone. . App picked the wrong network, but I quickly I fixed it. I thought everything was setting up nicely, but then app said it couldn’t connect after getting the IP address. App suggested unplugging the printer and router. App was right, and it worked. Setup finished, and there were no further issues. Though setting up my wife’s iMac was challenging. But, I quickly figured it out. My iPad, and my wife’s phone and iPad set up automatically. So far so good, though it’s just day 1. HP+ was easy, and uneventful. I don’t really understand folks not wanting HP+, always on internet, and using HP toner. The description of the printer is very clear. It is an “E” model. All of those things are part of the description. All of that being said, so far, so good. And the price was awesome! Update: All is working well. I did have a problem with printer shutting off overnight. So, I went into settings and changed “energy savings” from 2 hours to 8 hours. Seemed to help my shutoff problem.

She signed me up for 9 months of free trial for instant ink plus and told me that after the trial I can cancel it anytime but she did not tell me that my printer will stop working with the cartridge I already have in the printer unless I buy new HP cartridge which is over $80 I felt cheated and HP won't help me to get out of this within 24 hours of realizing what I signed up The cartridge I have can print up to 700 pages which would lasted me at least two years. By signing up instant ink plan I will have to pay extra $3.99 every month after nine months. So don't sign up for free trial of instant ink toner unless you print thousand of pages a month because your original cartridge will last much longer than the free trial plus you will end paying subscription fees rest of your life unless you buy a new cartridge I am really unhappy with this whole deal and this printer is going back for return

Setup was quick and easy using my smartphone, but a few hours after setting it up on my computer the "info" light start flashing and the printer was offline, and HP Smart said that the setup was incomplete. I followed all instructions to complete the setup, but nothing worked. I eventually reset the printer to factory defaults, deleted the printer from HP Smart, uninstalled HP Smart from my computer, and started over. I was able to complete the setup again from my phone. I updated the firmware in the printer, and so far (20 hours and counting), it's still working. The print quality is excellent, as I expect from HP, and scanning is also very good. Overall, I expect the printer to do its job, as long as it retains its setup. I purchased two of these, and I am going to wait a week or so to see what happens with this one before I open the other box. I'm also not real happy with HP+, but I guess I'll have to live with it. HP Smart is slow to open, but works okay.

I have owned several HP printers in the past and have been pleased with all of them. My only concern with this mode is the potential cost of replacing the toner cartridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings Connectivity & Setup = 0. Printing Performance = 5 Tech Support was very good so I give this review a 3 instead of a 2. Similar to other customer complaints, the HP "Smart" app, setup & registration process is flawed. You think it's complete and allows you to print for a week, but then abruptly stops. I'm pretty computer savvy, but I was unable to finish the setup and resolve without the help of a HP Tech (she was great). It took her 65 minutes to resolve and the manual manipulations she made in the firmware settings tells me HP have some software bugs to work out. Ease of connectivity should be table stakes in this day. Forcing customers to set up an account to "register" the device and create a dependency on their toner program is at the root of their issues, even though I opted out of the program (perhaps that's were the bug is). "Server issues" were to blame and their engineers had to "force" the registration of my device to my HP account. Hopefully it stays connected in another week. HP's Product Manager needs to revisit the strategy and especially its execution. One of HP's historical strengths had been their user interface and ease of connectivity...please do better next time HP . If interested, here is my Case #5103108053.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP inaccuracy describes item Very slow machine. Pro: great and fast wi-fi connect, super easy install, unboxed and had it running in 15 mins. Cons: website doesnt accurately describe print or scan speed. Speed of print is noticeably slower. Scanning one document takes an unusual length of time. I feel like Hp needs to be more transparent with description of specs online. I researched this model on youtube and found multiple videos of people Complaining about same issue with this exact model so I am not the first victim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from do not upstand the question. works as stated, but have to leave power on all the time, as if not when turn on my HP desktop and the printer as suggested in the set-up manual, it takes hours for the printer to come on after searching for the router and the to the desktop to complete the connection. When in fact, the printer is setting next to both the router and the HP desktop. Plus found a Cannon printer comparable to this printer for half the price.

But it definitely not plug and play and messaages were not clear so I had to call in for HP tech support to finally get it to work. I had to change to use another laptop to get it to work then my old laptop and ipad , iphones were able to use it

The print quality is not as crisp as I would like it to be, but it's plenty adequate for my purposes. I'm especially pleased with the duplex printing feature, which operates very quickly and smoothly. The scan function confused me at first because it isn't a button on the printer itself -- the scan function is operated via an icon on the computer desktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed This is not a first printer i own. This is not a first laser printer i own. But this is a first time i had to spend 4 hours trying to connect it. It constantly falls asleep, when I tried to install it, the darn thing fell asleep very 2 minutes and i had to restart the whole set up process. Now when i try to print anything i have to 'wake' it up before doing anything. Very annoying. Also, it is very hard to print anything aside from standard A4 size. There is no assessable feeder for cards or envelopes. Very Disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Printer when it stays connected This printer disconnects from the servers so often. I do not have access to an ethernet port at my office. Extremely disappointed that this doesn't have a way to print from the computer without wifi or the internet (i.e. printer cord). Makes the disconnecting issue even more infuriating.

I tried all its features and was extremely pleased to find out, that not only does it print (2-sided), copy and scan, but it is also able to fax! This is truly a multi-function printer and with the bonus 6 months' ink supply; you can't go wrong. Definitely recommend.

I should have thought about having automatic feed for scanning and copying documents. I was disappointed that it does not have this feature. The print quality is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP LaserJet MFP M234 requires 24/7 internet connection of it stops printing Installed the printer to operate with USB connection. It worked great for 2 days and than stopped printing by design. Designing a perfectly good printer to stop working because it can't connect to the internet, so you can gather data is bad. This is unnecessary and a security risk. Hackers are going to know this and start attacking your firmware. The printer was returned for one that one that is not designed to stop working. Also there was no clear indication, of the requirement to be connected to the the internet 24/7, when purchasing it though CDW. The one that your support personnel said would work without internet, CDW said, that it needed internet. Again, I don't want anything to do with HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe or HP LaserJet MFP M234dw
