Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not have Auto Duplex Printing as advertisedPurchased this printer to replace the LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw. I expected this printer to be almost the same as my previous one. The description states "Get the fastest in-class two-sided printing speed and First Page Out Time (FPOT)." and "Scan to email; Auto duplex printing; 250 sheet paper tray (standard); Uses toner with Jet Intelligence". This printer does NOT actually have auto duplex printing, it only allows for manual 2-sided printing. I have double and triple checked my setting on the computer to make sure it was not simply user error. When I select Automatic 2-sided printing, the printer still stops after every page and prompts me to put the paper back into the tray to print the second side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but not perfectI use the machine a great deal for scanning documents to a file, and it is fast and works well so long as the input material is in very good condition. If there are issues such as sheets that have been creased or folded (as in documents folded for mailing) the automatic sheet feeder often jams or pulls several sheets at a time. Placing this kind of input on the scanner glass a sheet at a time is painfully slow, so I've adapted by tending the sheet feeder and assuring that the next sheet is always free and ready to feed. I also never have been able to make it scan to a network file folder. But, it scans to the "documents" file in the computer OK, and unlike some other machines, I can rename the scanned document before I send it to the computer. The manual sheet feeder frequently jams when attempting to print single envelopes. It is easier to remove the trays to clear the jams than some other machines I've used, but still time consuming. Overall print quality in both color and B&W is very good, and the speed is good. Compared to many "All-in-one's" I've used, I'm happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good machine with some drawbacksI was looking for an MFC that was like my Laserjet PRO 200 MFP in my home office; Machine I grew to love. Sadly HP no longer produces it or I would’ve bought a second one. Overall the MFP281 machine is good. Prints well color is good. The first issue I saw was that it is a bit of a chore to pick up the printed pages off of the output tray. A minor thing perhaps but when you do it repeatedly all day it becomes a little annoying The control pad on the front of the unit is tiny and I can barely put my fingers on the numbers when I have to occasionally send a fax. The tiny keypad also comes in to play during set up. At one point I even tried to use the eraser on a pencil because my fingers are just too big for the key panel provided. There is a bit of drawback in the software as well since I have yet to figure out how to pull a scanner icon out and put it on my desktop. That was very easy to do on the LaserJet Pro 200 The wireless set up was easy. The unit integrates well with windows 10 Overall I find the unit serviceable although I miss the larger scanner of the laser jet Pro 200. I like the added feature of the envelope feeder because it used to be a pain to have to pull the tray every time you want an envelope printed. On balance I would rate this machine at about 85 to 90% of the capability of the LaserJet Pro 200 but it is still a good product in spite of some blemishes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unsatisfied with the product. The top feed for copying quite working properly the first week - jams every time a sheet of paper is fed in. Also, I wasn't made aware that this machine lacks a software package that makes it compatible with the MacOS High Sierra. Very frustrating.
