Rated 5 out of 5 by from Standard Size 564 Cartride Unsatisfactory I am rating only the standard size 564 ink cartridges for the HP Photosmart Plus printer. I would have rated thes products "no stars" but that choice was unavailable. The advertised pages printed per cartridge is false advertising! I barely get 20% of the number of pages advertised per cartridge. I print one copy on this printer and then use another printer if I need more than one copy. I would not buy the Photosmart Plus printer again and I will do more research before I purchase any HP printer in future!

Print in color and just black and white. While the printer does a fantastic job i find for the money i pay to much for the ink cartridges' besides they don't seem to last very long.

It did contain the other three... yellow, cyan, and magenta. Please forward excluded black cartridge asap as the one I am using is very low.

How do you distinguish the difference in the photo black & the regular black you print with? The ink doesn't last 1/4 the pages that they say it will!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ink hog I have tried several types of paper and got same results. Any of these 5 cartridges lasts only 2 weeks on average, I get 50-60 sheets per cartridge. I have purchased more than 35 cartridges in the past year.. More than the price of the HP photosmart printer. I would not recommend this printer and cartridge combination. While the printer has many features, it eats you out of house and home, when it comes to new cartridges. I wait until the colors go faint, and not much difference. I use 2-3 sheets a day. Good thing I can order online and get the new cartridge quickly. Also being wireless, the printer has connectivity problems. Too many jobs fail to print resulting in a loss of paper. It teaches you to be patient.I have a high speed internet in the same room. The PC never has a connectivity problem. This HP printer often has this problem.

This is with my 309-g photosmart and the ink is half way gone according to both the printer display and the solution center! This is using standard 11 font, arial text, using 1 inch boarders top bottom / side to side and standard paragraph spacing. About 600 words per page. Under printer properties the settings are as follows: - Features / color options / printing in gray scale / black ink only - Advanced / ink volume / light I am not happy with the ink efficiency. Based on the $13 I paid for the ink, the cost for 20 pages turns out to be $1.54 per page.

They sold me a 564 cartridge that doesn't fit. I have been on this site and see the same lame description. Why can't the HP people figure out that if 564 works on some but not all that there are other numbers in the universe like 563 or 565? What a pathetic product.

These arrived very quickly (2 days from order) and worked perfectly. The printer recognized it as HP ink specifically. The only downside is that these cartridges don't last long. Otherwise perfect transaction. There was also a coupon in the package for future purchase which I immediately used to buy color ink cartridges.

Packaging doesn't indicate difference! * * * TIP: "Photo" ink is SMALL black cartridge with BOW-TIE symbol, regular black ink is LARGE cartridge with PENTAGON symbol. (XL doesn't indicate cartridge size, either.) . . . Took me ordering 3 cartridges to get the right one as packaging is unclear! I agree it's dumb that you're out of black ink when the big one's out but the small one's still full. I even tried tricking the printer, but the quality was too poor to use.

I did not check the fill level on the cartridge nor did I count the number of copy pages. I was however, surprised to find that It did not last very long under light duty use.

The photos are naice, sharp and clear. Yet I must be honest, I have not purchased the ink directly from HP. I usually get it at my local Staples but I fell that that should no make a differene since the manufacturing process is the same for all carts.

It says that it is not a real HP product, I may not buy anything else from your site, I will go to office depot for ink now because it just puts out spots of ink and not the black ink that it should be. I am very disappointed .

I only use it to scan photos and have them printed elsewhere. It's cheaper that way. This is the second Hp printer out of 5 that I have had ink problems with and it will be the last. Ink is too expensive for the amount you get. I don't know how they calculated the amount of prints you get per cartridge, I only get about a quarter of that.

The website shows I can use a 564XL, 564 black or 564 photosmart. I ordered a 564 Photosmart, model CB316WN#140, and it doesn't fit. The package has a round black dot; and I need a black "bow-tie". Website is misleading as to which ink can be used. Printer works great, but ink runs out fast.

To think I especially wanted to purchase a "HP" printer because of the problems I was having with my "Epson" The ink doesn't last and the quality is so so. Wish I had never purchased this "All in One" thinking it would more compatible with my desktop computer (which happens to be a HP). Also, they do not make a combo pack and you have to buy two different black inks One is for the photo portion and the other is for the regular portion. If you want to spend a lot of money in keeping the ink supply adequate BUY A HP PRINTER!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packaging and Labeling and Quality Packaging and labeling don't match printer configurations/slots (e.g., says Black XL or even Photo, cautions "This does not replace 564 Black" but the only place you can put an XL cartridge is in the Photo slot. Lasts less than two months and never gives the # of copies advertised. Will not print from a new BLK cartridge if colors need replacing. Spotty quality. If you need to depend on your printer daily, don't buy HP inks!

The two blacks have the same # & I just need the small black. They need to put black 564big & small?? I even talked to a rep & they were confused. And why can't there be the small black in the combo pack??? I just do not get your ink cartridges??? & yes the 50 free 4x6 was nice but no way will you ever get 50 pics out of one order! I have tons of exra paper. Oh and so do not want to set on hold with HP for an hour :O

The photo black cartridge has a symbol like a Bowtie on it and the black has a pentagon symbol. The problem in ordering is that there is only one choice for the 564 printer and of course, the symbol is not evident on the packaging on line. So I received the wrong black and then had to go out to a store to find the photo black. It was not sold separately from the color cartridges which is another drawback. The on line store needs to clarify the two black cartridges so someone else does not make the same mistake.

Can't tell you how many hours I've spent on the phone with tech service and I have records where I need to purchase ink approx once a month. I copy one page 6 days a week and print something maybe 4 or 5 times a month. No where near the 250 pages its suppose to be good for . I would give 0 stars if I could.

I was really surprised at how fast we need to re-order ink or re-buy it. I really wish it would print as many copies as stated.

Only 10 attempts at trying to clean printhead that can not be removed and the cartridge was empty again. I have new cartridges that I wish to give away because I can not solve this problem and would have another save money. I will include the other color cartridges. They worked just fine.

Unbelievable....everytime I turn around, I have to replace an ink cartridge or two...when the indicator says "low on ink" on a particular color, the printer starts turning out freaky copies. When replaced with new cartridges all is well again. I have so many partially-used cartridges that don't work any longer .Basically when it's low on ink, it really means "NO" ink. Wished I had done further research before purchasing this HP Photosmart Plus. (I have yet to print a photograph), just papers. I believe the printer does a fine job, but you need plenty of money to keep it in ink.

I cleaned the cartridge, did print quality check and still had issues. It finally said I had low ink but it showed half was gone. I had only printed about 50 pages, which half of the prints I used fast draft quality.

I ordered this ink awhile ago and it lasted less than a week with little printing being done. HP was nice enough to refund my money and send me a new cartridge. I'm still waiting on the cartridge over a week now.

What is up with that! I am trying to figure out what the smaller black is for? When you need 5 cartridges, 2 being black but only one counts is rediculous. I purchased the correct "564" one, and am out the cost and use of the first one. Labeling did not indicate there would be a problem, or that there are two different "564" black cartridges. Don't suppose you want to send me a free one for the one I can't use??

We have had pretty good luck with the black 564 XL but this is not the first regular black 564 that has run out LONG before it should have. Our average, again on fast draft, is about 20 pages per cartridge if we are lucky. That is one of the reasons we always print on fast draft, to use less ink and hope we can get more pages per cartridge.

My only complaint is the confusion that the black cartridge that I purchased at a wear house store as a complete package of ink cartridges does not interchange with my printer, but the other cartridges were fine. My fault for making that mistake, but still confusing. That's why I'd order from hp and get it right the first time. I also like they send you something to recycle the old ink cartridges.

Not one advertised goal of pages printed per cartridge is met. And to add insult to injury, the cartridges are never placed on sale. Being out of work and whipping out resumes like wildfire, causes great hardship. I will replace this Photosmart printer the moment I am financially able.

It took two cartriges to complete the job; but I expected that it would because parts of the invitation were in larger lettering and in bold. The project is complete and I was very pleased with the results. If you have a HP printer, I would definitely recommend this product for a nice clean print.

The ink on my printer (Premium fax all in one) does not seem to last as long as the Canon printer I had before this one. The price of this ink is too costly for what you get. The ink does not last long enough, The cost of ink seems to exceed the cost of any other liquid. Have you ever wondered how much a pint would cost. There has to be another way. Maybe it would be cheaper to use a laser?

I went to WalMart and bought 2 more black HP4622 Series 564 and so far the first one has worked fine. I have not yet tried the color ink cartridges so I hope they are good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not enough volume These cartridges work very well and are very neat in appearance. Very easy to install. The only problem is they run out of ink too quickly. Near the end of its cycle you can squeeze more out by cleaning the heads, but that only lasts so long. Would help if they could get more ink into a cartridge.

The first time I ordered ink, I was amazed at the ease of use I found in the web site and the bargain I found for ink--both black and colors. The rapid delivery was most appreciated and I have used the printer for all of my jobs with great satisfaction. Each time I order ink, I am again appreciative of the ease of use and the quick service. I cannot recommend this service too highly.

The cartridge is a valid HP product. The HP printer 6510 is only a few years old and has not been used much. I will steer away from HP products.

I bought this printer on QVC because it looked so cool...and although the features of it are pretty cool the life of the cartridges is horrible!!! i did some printing of 8 x 10 brochures and after printing 20 my color cartridges were about out!! i couldnt believe it!! i would not recommend this printer to anyone that does any amount of printing...and as far as printing pictures?? well i would take them to a photo shop-it would be ALOT cheaper!!!!

The number on the box is the same, but the cartridge is too large to fit in the printer. I have to buy a new printer now. Not happy at all with this product

My 309 printer is great but I can't afford the ink. Price needs to be cut or quantity of ink improved. My second black ink cartridge was a 564XL. After printing about 150 pages the low on ink started to display. I may have printed about 100 more pages before it wouldn't print anymore. My next printer will not be a model that uses these cartridges, maybe even not the HP brand.

Even the XL versions provide only a little more in production capacity. HP should give the printers away, as keeping them fed with ink takes a signifiant investment. Overall: Print quality is excellent, even at the economy printing mode. Colors are vivid and ease of installation is great.

Went to HP website and it would take 3 days, it was easy to order and when i got the product they also sent an envelope so i could send the used cartridges back. Will order again through HP

The only problem I have is that after I installed it and attempted to use it, I get the messages that the other color cartridges are empty or not genuine HP. Before I put this in, the color ones were low, but not empty. Why they do not work now, suddenly, I do not understand.

They "claim" you should get 250 copies out of the regular cartridge and 750 from the xl's. I have printed, at max 100 pages on my printer since I have purchased it and have blown through the sample cartridge and am 3/4 empty on the new cartridge already (this is the regular one). The last HP printer I owned I bought 2 cartridges in the the 5+ years that I owned it and during that time I ran a home based business. I suggest not purchasing the C510 until HP works this problem out.

I went to the Store to buy one and received same message. Every time I need replacement ink for my printer I have to return cartridges and go to two to three different stores before finally finding one my printer accepts. Received a replacement and it didn't display a message it just won't print. My Family said that's what I get for buying HP. I was satisfied for a few years. I have had another printer that wasn't wireless that lasts for years without any problems. It's just frustrating especially when I don't print daily and when it runs out of ink I have to go to same process before I finally find a working cartridges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink? Where does it go? I purchased the HP Photosmart D5460 becausse I thought it would be a smart buy utilizing the newest style of inks, Vivera. I have never been so disappointed by the usage of inks from any other printer I have purchased. I decided to buy this printer because I got tired of spending so much on ink. (another mistake). I have owned this printer for over a year and do occassional printing, color and black / white. I have replaced all ink cartidges at least 7 times since purchase and cannot bear to do it again. My last purchase was the final straw when I replaced all the cartidges and within a time frame of 1 month I printed 2 4x6 photos and at most, 25 pages of text. Now my printer is completely out and I had to decide if I want to spend another $48.00 (plus the cost of gas) to replace or just replace the printer. I used to be diehard HP, but I will be replacing this printer with a Kodak.

I have loved HP products in the past and bought this printer out of past experience and brand loyalty. I moved to this one from a Photosmart C6150. That printer's cartridges lasted much longer than this printer. there seems no difference in quality of printing between the 2, the only difference I see is that the Premium printer has the bells and whistles of wireless connection and e-printing, both of which are not essential to my home use. I'll likely take this new printer back for a refund and keep using my older printer! The Premium cartridges are just to small!

I have been doing my own personal research whenever I buy new ink and the pages are getting way low now its like getting half the amount stated by HP. I do not print that often and I make note of how much pages I print each time I print and it is appalling to see the amount of pages sometimes you barely get 150 pages from one cartridge of ink.

I am not able to print as much as I have with previous printers. I continue to use the ink until it is completely out, and I use the "quick print" option. There have been 8 3x5 photos printed and a handful of documents. We used it very little because we were in the middle moving the months of November to January. I am afraid to use the ink because it runs out so fast. I have purchased ink directly from HP as well as Bestbuy and Walmart.

And why advertise 564XL cartridges with much longer "copy-printing life" when the printer will not accommodate the wider XL? I've had this printer 3 months, make approx. 60 copies/month and I've had to buy ink cartridges 4 times! My original HP 2410 Photosmart needed new ink cartridges about every 3-4 months and that was printing both copies and photographs. I am a loyal HP customer, having both HP PCs and printers, but I am not happy with this added expense!

If you don't use then I guess they just stop working after few days, I print very less now but have been just changing cartridges for non use. I haven't had it for a month yet and I am already out of Black Ink. The yellow is just about gone as well. This is my second Photosmart printer. I can't afford to keep buying ink cartridges.I chose HP based on my experience with my former printer. But this one doesn't hold a candle to my previous one. Also, it is extremely difficult to load a new cartridge. Having arthritic hands, I have to find someone strong enough to snap off the orange protector. If no one is around...I'm out of luck! Then trying to line the cartridge up just right to snap it in can, at times, be frustrating. I am not happy with this Printer. I live in a rural area and run an on-line business. I can't run to the store and buy another one because it was faulty. The ink shot a spray across my carpet that I can't get out. Now what? See photos if you think I am kidding. It is about 25" long total. You should see the mess inside my printer.

The printer itself is fantastic, but the number of cartridges it goes through is unbelievable. I have owned other HP printers that were awesome when it came to output, but my B209a is costing multiple times more than its original cost just to keep producing. I recently was only able to make 20 small photographs (nothing elaborate or bright) and the colors were already running "low." The black hasn't done much better. I am certain I didn't even get 100 pages out of it. Let me add that I even set my copies to the most efficient settings. After reading other negative reviews regarding the lives of these cartridges, I only wish I had known this before I purchased my printer. I did buy an extended warranty...maybe I'll explore that avenue to get some satisfaction. It is just the pitts because I really like the printer.

We use the quick print feature. We do not even print much and what we do is minimal, text printing. Disappointed.

Twice I went to Office Depot and another and they gave me 564 black .. Twice you mailed me the black that was to wide .. I needed the thin black that always was the size of the tricolor inks. Four narrow ones and one wide ...I am in the middle of moving and had the need to copy many things it was extremely inconvenient.. I will mail back what you sent , I want to be credited ......moving in a few days ... Address chane will forward ...if I can't get ink I will have to get a new printer ! I'm almost 80 and an artist whose pretty annoyed

It's just about impossible to contact an HP rep to find out how to order a "large" cartridge. I ordered 2 Photo Value Packs and 2 - 564 black ink replacements. The black ink cartridges were not the ones I needed so I ordered two 564XL Photo black. Wrong ones again! So now I have 4 "small" black ink cartridges. I could not contact HP to ask why there are two black ink cartridges in the C309a, and if the printer uses the "small" cartridge and automatically uses the "large" when one or the other runs out of ink. This is my 3rd HP printer combo, but will probably be my last..

I purchased about a half dozen of these cartridges and even with the bare minimum settings using the least amount of ink I barely get 100 Pages worth of printouts. I only print out text and things with rather sparse text to begin with like receipts and personal tax forms. I'm looking for other options because the inkjet system is just too costly and doesn't work as advertised.

I purchased a knockoff that I tried to use because it was cheaper. After a brief use I went back to HP ink. Will not make the mistake of using an offv brand again.

The agent did tell me that I could extend the life of my ink cartridge by not turning on and off my printer so often. I usually only get 35 to 40 printed sheets off of each cartridge.

Mini square design was easier to handle than the slim flat ones. Therefore, just an ok product designation is offered in evaluation of the cartridge.

I understand that companies sell printers cheap and must make money on the ink/toner etc. I purchased new Photosmart Premium All-in-One last November. I have printed some photos and ran out of one color. However, I have printed less than 50 pages b & w and it's already low on ink. Other aspects of the printer make it difficult to use compared to my last one. Sadly, I also purchased this same printer for a non-profit art gallery. Now I have to be concerned with whether or not they can afford the ink!

I will use it but I still cant use my printer because it is still missing the black in the smaller size. I have looked in Staples and Sams and can't seem to find what I need. I feel like I should have just bought a new printer when my ink needed to be replaced. If you could tell me what I could do I would appreciate it.

I have owned numerous printers and have NEVER run into this problem. I now have FOUR unused cartridges that are useless to me. I will probably get rid of this printer and I will definitely check on cartridges before I buy another. And yes I agree, they don't last!

Am I the only one who thinks if you put XL on an ink cartrige it means the larger black cartrige and that would leave the other black ink cartrige as the RIGHT one to order? The printer, along with other printers, also tell you you are low/out of ink, way before you actually are. HP has a suit against them re. this. They now offer ink cartidges with more ink... but for more money! I used to be able to recycle my cartidges to cut down on cost, but now they are really considered toners and I can't recycle them for cash back. It costs me about $52 a month for roughly 100 4x6 photos but I can get them professionally printed for @ $12 to $15. Big difference!! I used to like printing a home, but not cost effective anymore. At least not with this printer or these ink cartridges!

However Staples did not have the black cartridge that fit the slot in the printer. I went online to order the replacement. The cartridge is larger than the one I had and did not fit into slot. Do you still have the slimmer version that is the same size as the color cartridges? I did not see that size online. My color printing is not coming out right.

Get less than half of what they say I should get. I have had HP printers before and had good perfromace from the ink, but this one is soooo sad. As soon as I can afford to replace it, I will. Actually, why wait: I could probably save the cost of the printer in ink with one that performs better. Love the printer its self, but can't afford the ink.

I usually buy 2-3 to last me for a while.Their XL is NOT XL anymore but it's still the same price. The cartridge I'm taking out now IS an XL so I definately know what I'm looking at. I can get the regular sized ink a lot cheaper than $20+. Guess my next printer will be another brand.

The yellow/blue/red #564 units fit perfect, the black #564 is too wide. I have a 564XL and know not to order that one! HP can have their printer with all of its options. It is a replacement for my first printer that they exchanged under warranty and it malfunctions besides not accepting HP's own advertised part numbers from their website. New issue besides the ink cartridge that does not work; I have to unplug it every time I need to make a copy. Hey HP, thanks for allowing me to fill out your survey. Hope this helps others.

I have never run into this problem on previous purchases. This was the cartridge that was offered on the on line selection along with the 564 combination pack that worked perfectly.

I have never had this problem with a new HP cartridge before. This wastes both the ink in the new black cartridge and the ink in the other three color cartridges.

I print photo's for myself and others and do not want them to be off color, smudeged, or less vibrant. Always use original HP Ink. The price is very competative with off brands as well.

I'll remember that next time. I do send back to you my old cartridges, but I truly hope I get new ones and not refills when I do place an order. Thank you. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unhappy Having a bunch of printing to accomplish yesterday, I purchased four 546 Black ink cartridges figuring that I could do at least 800 or more letters. The 564XL which I had originally purchased with the printer had just run out of ink. No, I didn't change it when it said it was running out of ink, it actually did not print any more. The first new cartridge only printed 85 pages in about 20 minutes then ran out of ink. These copies are all black with no other color involved with only approximately 50 short words in BOLD. So far, I have printed 135 pages with the second cartridge. Hopefully I can get closer to the 200 - 250 mark with the other cartridges otherwise I will have to reconsider this HP printer which is a Photosmart Plus I have had for about 2 months. It is a great printer and fast but don't think I can afford to keep it in ink. I haven't even tried the color printing yet.

The salesman with Fry's that talked me into buying this model instead of the one it had advertised at a lower price said one of its advantages over the one I had intended to buy was that the small cartridges could be purchased indivually, and the associated savings in ink would make up for the greater price of the printer.

There’re was still ink in cartridge but ordered new HP original callback cartridge anyway while I followed every step possible to clean the heads. Even with a new cartridge and multiple cleaning attempts and strategies employed I now have a large paperweight. I’ll be getting a new printer, unlikely to be an HP

When we print in color, the type is clearer, but still spotty. I ended up printing out the tax form and filling it in by hand so I was sure the IRS would be able to read it.

I bought them there and now have the correct numbers so I can order them. All the packages are blue and say 564? I agree with everyone that says the ink is used up quickly, I have had the printer for a month and am getting low ink message on all cartridges, even the photo black and I have not printed one photo. What is up with that?

I needed the black that works with the color cartridges, but ordered instead the independent wider black cartridge that doesn't fit the narrow slot to the left of the color cartridges. You need to designate the two different blacks by clearer instructions or labels. Even the manager of our local Radio Shack didn't understand the difference, when I tried to buy the narrower black cartridge, which he did not have in stock.

There are different black cartridges that you have to find the tiny model number in order to figure out what each one is. Plus, when you try to order them online from any store or even from your site unless you have that EXACT model number you can not determine which is the main black cartridge. INSANE! This is not my printer, it's a company printer, no manual any longer and the online PDF manual does not list any of the cartridges or description. Very disappointed.
