So simple!
I am known for having "bad tech karma" so I was anxious about having to figure out which cartridge to order and how to install it and then get it working. HP's site sorted out which model I needed and doing the replacement was simple. Pull out the old one, pop in the new one and print. Simple!

HP Loyalty - Choice Confirmed
Having been a loyal HP customer since purchasing my HP35 Scientific Calculator in September 1972 I have been most pleased with the LaserJet MFP M130nw printer. Similarly, purchasing a new replacement Toner 17A cartridge from HP has been an excellent choice due to its page output quality and quantity.

Low cost: Over time, toner costs for a laser print
HP 17A Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge, CF217A is high quality because of the speed, precision and economy of the cartridge. And because the printer can draw more ink precisely, without spilling any excess ink.

Dilemma
The cartridge is a work of genius any way you look at it. The problem I had with my printer only two uses after it was installed lead to an error code and the discontinued use of the printer. After a few hours of attempts to get it going I called the tech people.
To make the story short I have to pay to have some service from the tech dept. to even begin to figure out what to do about error code EX045. understandable as this is, I'm not that happy about it. I could use the money to buy another printer that uses the same cartridge at $80 each, maybe. This is the real problem. So; I'll call and see how much I have to invest for advice and maybe it can be used or is it now rendered junk. Not fair afterrspending $80 on a new cartridge.

Confusing!.
When my venerable HP LaserJet finally became too expensive to operate, [the toner cartridges more than doubled in price!], it was replaced by an OfficeJet printer. The print quality suffered and the ink cartridges didn't last very long. {If anyone needs a boat anchor, ...}
In desperation, we purchased an HP MFP130nw. We didn't need the scan feature, we had an Epson V600 scanner that could scan 35mm slides as well as paper documents.
When I was time to replace the toner cartridge, I didn't know what I needed [There was no operator's manual for this device.] the website indicated both an HP17A and an HP19A as replacements. They both arrived with only sketchy installation instructions.
Only by good luck rather than good management, I found a way to replace the HP17A system. I still do not know what to do with the HP19A, it's still sitting unopened in its delivery packaging.
One would think that simple clear documentation would accompany these printers. The HPLJ4 had two accompanying documents. Why are we stranded without equivalent documentation with the current products???

I have not had it long enough to give it 5 stars but so far I really like it. It's fast, smooth and no noise. Only problem I am having is paper sticking together and getting 3 or 4 pages going through at once. Price is expensive calculated base on the usage
The delivery is very quick within a few day. I have an old HP and it used a larger toner, probably cost $90 - 100'ish. It last for a very long time. The HP Laserjet 130 uses 17A toner. It is small and expensive calculated by the print volume before it is used up.

Quality Over Price (Lesson)
Costs a few dollars extra but buying from the source insures a quality OEM part not a cheap counterfeit item. I bought a cheap toner before and it only lasted about 10-20 print-outs. $60 dollars down the drain. Worth paying the extra $20 and comes with a warranty and customer service if nedded.

Unwanted Vertical Black and white lines
The toner produces black or white lines that have made my printing experience poor. I am not sure whether this is caused because of the toner or the printer. At first it worked fine then it started producing curvy black lines, I printed some photos then it was fixed temporarily until it started producing vertical white lines.

HP Store Great Source of Printer Cartridges
All the office supply stores in my city had no inventory of this cartridge--so glad the HP store did! (why replace a perfectly operating printer when all it needs is a new printer cartridge?)

Satisfied with HP 17A
This is not my first time in purchasing HP 17A Black Original Laser Jet Toner Cartridge. I am very satisfied with the number of pages I can print from one cartridge. I particularly am happy that there is a warning that the ink is very low. No surprises!

Good service but not good product for the price
Good service, fast delivery, but. ... this is my 3rd cartridge I'm buying and I am not happy for the 2 previous because it says that 1 cartridge is good for printing 1600 pages. The problem is that after printing 700 normal text fil pages , the toner says 50% but is not printing good any more , it makes white lines like zebras. Some areas like blind. And this is repetitive for each toner.
I paid 100 $ per cartridge for printing 700 shets. This is not a good business for us. I think the company is having us, consumers, very good.

HP17A black toner
Toner works as expected. Is easy to install. Return for recycling is kind of annoying as no UPS store easily accessible to drop off. Wish there was a USPS free return option.
