Measure and plan access point locations
WaveRunner is a Linux™-powered HP iPAQ™ Pocket PC that verifies 802.11b deployments while detecting the rogue access points and clients that compromise the performance and security of enterprise networks.
The Fluke Networks WaveRunner gives you the visibility for managing your wireless networks. This palm-sized device lets you see what's happening in every corner of your business. As you detect, deploy and support wireless, you need a tool as mobile as you are.
Features:
Rogue AP detection - view unauthorized access points on your network.
Design - measure and plan access point locations.
Deployment - verify wireless client connectivity from every location.
Troubleshooting - quickly isolate issues to the wired or the wireless segment and locate the connection point of failure.
Capacity management - add users and plan network expansion before users experience problems.
WaveRunner enables you to plan and measure access point location and configuration to maximize coverage while minimizing installation costs. Wireless LAN projects can incur high costs, WaveRunner enables you to complete a smart design in the beginning, allowing you to prevent costly fixes in the future.
Once wireless has been installed, WaveRunner allows you to verify wireless drops, signal coverage and test for channel interference. In order to validate your wireless LAN deployment , WaveRunner helps you to ensure:
Clients are connecting to each AP
All APs are configured correctly
Coverage is sufficient
Wired Equivalency Protocol (WEP) is working
WaveRunner allows you to perform wireless connectivity troubleshooting so trouble tickets are closed faster. Using its Ping, Throughput and web tools, you can drill down to specific conversations to determine if the:
Client can see the AP
WEP is configured correctly
Client can see key devices
In the future, when you decide to increase the number of wireless users, WaveRunner's Traffic View feature can help you determine the network traffic load of increased users to decide if the AP can support more clients. WaveRunner will also help you identify what is making a connection slow.
WaveRunner Wireless LAN Tester
