Vertical movement is not smooth
I bought this monitor mount because I have a standing desk and need to move my monitor up and down frequently. The typical monitor arm lets you easily move a monitor up and down, but because it pivots at an elbow, the movement is not straight up and down, but curves to the side.
The great thing about the Trace is that it can be centered and move straight up and down. But only after I bought it did I discover that the up/down movement is somewhat stiff, requiring two hands, and it has notches that make it slot into certain positions more easily. It seems as if it was mainly designed to facilitate frequent movements forward, or angling to the side, or tilting, but up/down adjustments were expected to be infrequent.
In addition, if you move it to its lowest position, the cable guide pops out of its slots at the bottom.
So, I'm disappointed, especially considering the price of the mount. I was hoping for some gas-cylinder single-touch vertical movement. But I think I'll stick with it because the alternative didn't make me happy either.
