I adore this camera sooo much. Im so impressed with the quality and how easy it is to maneuver, would definitely say its a close dupe to the g7 mark ii. Would highly recommend if you're trying to achieve stunning photos (especially for my social media girlies) I recommend putting the setting on "P" changing the IOS to 400, -1,2 exposure and do the force flash on the side!!

Nice but no memory card, really?
I really like the camera but am perplexed as to why it doesn't come with a memory card. As expensive as it is, it should come with at least a small memory card.

We would have given it 5 stars except that Canon has not updated its software so we cannot use the Bluetooth or WiFi connection with the MacOS 14.3 we are using – I have no interest in sending pictures to my iPhone. Now, as in the past, we just download to our iMac through a cable. We love the camera, although it took a little time to get used to the differences from our earlier SX160 IS. We have used Canon cameras since I bought an FTb in Tokyo in 1974, and still have that and my A1 and lots of lenses. We went digital in 2012 when the SX160 IS was the last Canon camera that used AA batteries rather than expensive rechargeable ones.
So far, the quality of pictures has been the equal or better than on the SX160, and when I learn the added features on this camera, it will be wonderful.
For people wanting a great “pocket camera”, this should be their choice.

Fantastic little camera!!!!
Had a wait a bit to do a review on this just so I had some time behind the lens. And I can honestly say this is a fantastic little camera. Haven’t owned one in a long time since the days of iPhone cameras. I was pleasantly surprised! Takes great pictures. I would highly recommend this to anyone!!

Ok. I was really hoping this would be a quick and easy camera for me to use. And I am sure it will be eventually but it will take me lots of time. Maybe because I am in the older age group and not as tech savvy as these young whippet snappers out there today. But let me say this about the camera. I know Canon is a very trusted brand name! It is a perfect size to be able to
tuck into your pocket while you are out and about. Being as it is also light weight it is easy to hold steady. I was able to set the time and date by following directions in the manual so yay for me ! It does have a three inch LCD display, can take pictures and even videos. I know you can send them this videos and pictures to your phone or computer but I think my grandson will have to help me with that part. Again, there is so much for me to learn about this camera and I do look forward to learning it bit by bit. And I need to get a "card" for it. So I will keep reading the manual and I will keep trying as thats how I will learn!

Packs a punch
I’ve always thought the phone was sufficient for pictures of my family etc. but I finally got a real camera. The quality is so much better with this Canon. The pictures are so high quality. I didn’t realize what I was missing. I still don’t love carrying another device but when I’m looking for high quality memories this camera is excellent.

The Canon Powershot SX740 is a great little camera! I’d say it’s perfect for someone just beginning to shoot photography. Perfect size camera for people on the go. Good picture quality but the video quality is superior! Video shoots in 4k. Flip up screen is great feature of the camera.

This camera is fantastic, the size is so convenient to carry, you can carry right in your pocket for easy access. Or use the carry strap that’s included. The screen size is really perfect. Nice zoom features , and takes great pics or videos. Also Connects to Bluetooth. I find it takes beautiful and clear pictures.
Easy to understand instructions for your use. Very sturdy and again great in size. You will enjoy using this camera great zoom effect. This camera is so worth it.

Perfect pocket cam
I shoot landscape photography typically, but my girlfriend is adamant I need to start using my camera for our newborn, to which no matter how many ways I try to explain cameras & lenses, I'm still wrong. Got this as the perfect go to for family anything and everything to snap pics of my mini me. The picture quality is great (even good enough to print on canvas,) the zoom is amazing even though I don't use it all that frequently, but the 4k video is my favorite feature in being able to get some of these precious moments with him locked in 4k. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality point and shoot camera or even a camera for beginners looking to break into photography, gotta start somewhere!

Great Compact Camera!
Good zoom capabilities for when I'm trying to get good shots of nature. I love the flip camera for selfie shots of my kids and me. It fits easily into my small over-the-shoulder bag and It's very lightweight. I'd recommend this camera for a beginner just getting into photography like me since it's not an intimidating camera. It's very easy to use and navigate. The pictures are great quality!

As someone who is new to photography meaning I’ve only ever used phones and before that those cameras that were disposable this camera is everything I ever wanted and more! I wanted a hobby so this I thought would be perfect and it is . The picture is so clear and the distance is mind blowing. It’s actually so good there’s so many features on this I am learning new things on this every day . It’s 4K wireless it can connect to your laptop and it’s got like a foodie feature and my son was looking at all the stuff it would do to help to create his YouTube channel with a movie feauture. I guess that means we are getting another one . It has a lot of features you can read about and I don’t really know about all that except I’m learning and this takes exceptional pics. It’s also sleek and portable so easy to take wherever you go . Thank you ,you may be seeing a new photographer in the future!

I really like this camera. I love that you can edit your photos right after taking a picture as well. Because that is really helpful. But, one thing I really dislike is that as I am taking pictures if something randomly moves it blurs the picture so bad. Positives for this camera is that after charging your battery it does last for a bit. It does take good pictures and will continue to use it. I like that it isn't super bulky and I am able to get some good pictures with it.

Powerful little Camera!
This camera is perfect for when I need a little more power than my phone, but don't want to lug around my DSLR (which happens to also be a Canon!) The clarity of images captured is fantastic. The battery life is perfect for a day or two of fun. The camera itself is straightforward and intuitive (gotta love Canon!) If you're looking for an easy to use, everyday camera, I would put this on the top of the list!

Amazing features for a point and shoot
I wanted a dedicated camera to take my photos to the next level. The PowerShot is perfect! Most importantly, it can zoom for days with its 40x zoom (and up to 80x using its ZoomPlus feature!). I take a ton of nature shots and the PowerShot let’s me get the perfect shot of wildlife in tall trees and at a distance. The image stabilization helps me take perfect photos every time. It even has a video camera feature to take amazing 4k videos. When I’m done, I use WiFi to automatically transfer the photos to my iPad. If you want (way) better photos than your phone, you have to get a PowerShot. (It fits in your pocket too!)

To Be Useful, Great Magnification Requires an EVF
I am a four decades long loyal Canon Camera fan going back to the A-1. These potentially great Canon cameras with affordable long lens of fantastic (40 - 60x magnification) must have an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) to make any practical use of the great magnification. These are like trying to waggle a small diameter stirring stick at arms length and expect you can identify and image your point of interest when using the large screen on the camera back at arms length — it is a frustratingly difficult to impossible. Yet they put an EVF on a 4x camera. To compete with high quality smart phone cameras Canon must bring something unique to their platforms the smart phone form factor cannot. I finally found a high-magnification lens with EVF camera by a competitor brand. ADD AN EVF TO SOME OF YOUR LONG-LENS SMALL DIGITAL CAMERAS! PLEASE!

No Electric View Finder, No Sale.
This would be a perfect camera for me becausee I love taking long range shots, and with 40X view the problem is without en electric view finder, it's a lesson in frustration, I tried. I'll give it 3 stars since it's a great camera with a design flaw that all manufacturers, for some reason subscribe to.

This camera takes good pictures, but has some real shortcomings. JPEG only is OK, but would bertte rif it captured RAW format. And the biggest feature of this camera is its telephoto reach, but it is difficult to use with no viewfinder. Focus is difficult at extreme telephoto ranges and you really have to work hard to eliminate camera shake from blurring your images. Overall not a bad camera, but if you're looking for clear, crisp images at extreme telephoto ranges, it may hot be the best choi e.

Nice little camera
Nice little camera. It's a upgrade from a ten plus year only Canon camera I had. Takes really nice photos I use it for snapping photos of my bird feeders at the house. Easy set and easy to take photos with. I bought a storage case as the manufacturer didn't supply one you would think expensive electronics would come with a case.

Great camera!
I'm a novice when it comes to cameras. I'm still getting the hang of it and playing around with it's features and options. However, I already love it! The zoom is amazing in this little camera! And the fact it has wifi and Bluetooth makes it so much more convenient. Also, the quality of pictures is great. The camera is lightweight so it makes it easy to carry around all day.

Let me first say WOW! The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is now my favorite camera. Great quality camera with many features, 4k omg! I fell in love with the flip screen, which I found to be helpful when filming myself. It takes excellent pictures, I received so many compliments on how nice the pictures came out. Lightweight, easy to use and carry. The 40x zoom is one of the reasons makes this PowerShot SX740 HS a clear winner in my book. I definitely recommend it.

Excellent camera
his is a good little camera for the family. It fits easily in a pocket, light for kids to handle, it's simple enough for them to use (on auto) and get them to enjoy taking pictures during our outings, yet it has many featues we, adults, can use to have a little more control. I am in no way expert, but I did appreciate the zoom and the option to keep the camera either on auto, or on any mode it offers, which offers more freedom. The zoom is powerful, but seems to give less than sharp images when used to its fullest.
The camera comes with a menu that displays on the camera's screen, which allows you to play with all the different settings, and there are quiet a few. You can take selfies, which my kids discovered first. We don't have a need to transfer the pictures to our phone, but it is an option if needed, and easy to set up from the camera.
I was surprised to realize, only after a few weeks, that this camera has no viewfinder, which I obviously didn't miss. It did not come with a cable to connect to a laptop or comptuer, nor did it come with a card. Just things to know.

The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is a great camera with incredible zoom. The 40x optical zoom is easily my favorite feature, allowing you to capture stunning detail from a distance. The camera is compact & lightweight enough that it’s easy to take anywhere. It doesn’t come with a case though, which you’ll want. It has a variety of different shooting modes with creative features and even captures 4K video. The flip-up display screen is handy for selfies and plenty bright, even when outside in direct sun. The camera doesn’t come with an interface cable and instead relies on Wi-Fi (and a separate Image Transfer Utility program for computer) or Bluetooth for picture transfers out of the box. I’d prefer a default cable option but am getting the hang of the virtual transfers. Overall, excellent camera, zoom & features.

This is a great point-and-shoot camera with professional features/qualities. Nice 20.3 mp so the quality is great and BlueTooth and wifi options are a nice feature to work with as well. I've used this at my nephew's baseball games and the shots came out great. I'll be using this camera a lot.

I really like this Cannon camera. It takes beautiful photos and the quality of pictures is really great. I especially love that you can download the Cannon app and have you pictures sent directly to your phone. This camera really lets you capture the vibrancy of colors and all of the little details. I was very disappointed that the camera did not come with a memory card. I would not expect a really great card to come with it, but I would have been happy with anything. After getting the camera I had to go out and get a memory card before I could use it. Besides that, this is a great camera. I also really like how small and compact it is. The flip screen feature for taking selfies is really awesome. If you are looking for a small, nice quality camera, this is the one.

This camera is exactly what I’ve been searching for. It takes photos extremely clearly, produces great quality photos for printing on large canvases. It also has an incredible zoom that is perfect for capturing wildlife in photos without getting too close. This is going to be the PERFECT camera for my upcoming national parks trip. Cannon’s SX740 HS is a great point n shoot camera. It takes clear and crisp pictures and has great features if your a more experienced photographer. The zoom gets you in close and the Wi-Fi feature is nice to move photos. One thing to keep in mind is it does not come with a member card, but they have gotten so cheap now it’s not much of an issue.

Great for a beginner like me!
I'm new to the world of photography that isn't just on my phone and this camera has a lot going on. I'm slowly getting acquainted with all the different modes and when best to use them. This camera is amazing and continues to impress me the more I use it.
Some of my favorite features are the 40x optical zoom which helped me capture some gorgeous shots of the lunar eclipse this year and the Bluetooth connectivity and wifi transfer! I can transfer images from the camera directly to my phone in a matter of seconds, it's very impressive!
The videos you can capture are stunning in 4K UHD, I'm so excited to capture more memories in such clarity.
It's pretty easy to use and I'm slowly getting better at operating it and more in tune with its features.
I love that it has a rechargeable battery and is light and compact enough to store in my purse.
I'm excited to get some up close and personal shots of flowers and bugs this summer with this amazing little camera!
I recommend this camera for photographers of all skill levels! It's an amazing little machine!

Whether you're a novice or experienced photographer, this camera offers the user the simplicity of point and shoot up while allowing the functionality to customize your photo settings. Picture quality is outstanding, the menu is easy to navigate and the 40X optical zoom (160X digital) is phenomenal. I really like the ability to wirelessly transfer photos to my phone as it negates the need to remove the memory card and transfer manually. The only drawback I see with the Canon SX740 HS is it didn't come with a memory card. Including a card with even just minimal memory would have been appreciated.

I’ve recorded both video and pictures on this device. I’m impressed. The battery life is good. It doesn’t take forever to charge either. I really like the quality of the image. All my pictures came out so good. I love the 40x zoom. The videos are in 4K and it absolutely look great. I take pictures of everything. This camera is so easy to use and perfect for any person learning to take photographs and videos. I would recommend.

I love photography; even though I am only an amateur. However, I didn't have a good camera and was only using the camera on my cell phone, so that's why I decided to get this camera.
I love being able to give pros and cons about a product when I leave a review; however, I have not found any cons about this camera at all. I think this thing is amazing.
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you everything about this camera, because there are so many features that I am still trying to figure it all out. It might take me a while. *Laugh*
So far though, the pictures have come out amazing and I have already learned how to do things such as change from taking a normal picture to taking a black and white picture and how to set a self timer.
So, here are a few things I have learned about this camera, that I absolutely love.
First of all, you don't the flash on there at all and that is because there is a little switch on the side of the camera. Once you push that little switch, the flash pops up out of the camera. This in my opinion, is great because it actually keeps the flash protected.
Another awesome feature is that the screen where you see what you are taking a picture of, can actually fold upwards, so that if you want to set a self timer and take a selfish or a group photo, you can still see what you are taking a picture of and you can see whether or not the camera is getting everyone in the picture. If you have something to sit the camera on, or a tripod to use, this function, will actually allow everyone to be in the picture and you do not have to worry about finding someone to take the picture for you. This to me, is one of the greatest features ever. Especially since I have been places with people before and wanted a group picture, but either no one else was around to take the picture, or I was I guess too shy to ask a stranger or was worried it might be an inconvenience to that random person. Now with this camera, problem solved.
Another thing that makes me in love with this camera, is that there is an app you can download on your phone that allows you to transfer pictures from your camera to your cell phone and you don't even need internet to do it; you only need a smart phone that currently has data service. This allows me to quickly and easily send pictures to other people or share them on social media.
With the features I listed and the many more I'm sure to learn about on this camera, I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of it.
Whether you are a novice or a pro, this is a camera I would recommend to anyone that likes taking pictures and I officially think this is the best camera I have ever owned.

It's ok but I wouldn't buy it again.
It's hard to take photos one-handed without hitting buttons, i.e. flash. It didn't even come with a case or extra battery. Those should have been included in the high price.

I ordered this camera for travel and hiking. I wanted a better picture quality than a cell phone camera. I like the size and the zoom lens. I carry mine with the PSC-3300 padded case attached to my belt which is very convenient to carry and access. The picture quality is much better than a cell phone in clarity and detail. It is very easy to use and when not in the auto mode it has features to adjust white balance, exposure comp, autofocus method, metering mode, image quality, ISO speed, style settings, still image aspect ratio and displaying f-stop and shutter speed number and making necessary adjustments for the picture to take. Menu access is very easy to access and use. The picture playback includes a histogram with is a must for any photographer for proper exposure and making adjustments in varying light situations. My larger camera has these features and are a must for me with my photography background. The camera connect app is very easy to use to remote control the camera and transfer pictures to my cell phone for sharing the pictures that I have just taken. would highly recommend this camera for travel or outdoor sport activities.

FedEx (knce again) ruins Christmas
I ordered two cameras with the shallow promises of them arriving within the weeks so I'll have them for Christmas. That came and went until finally I ordered them from another retailer.
They were delivered overnight after hearing about this direct Canon fiasco.
Two weeks go by, and I get a shipping notice for the original two.
Fast forward and week and a half, I never received them because FedEx REFUSED to change the delivery time to a time when I am actually home from work and can sign for them.
After back and forth between Canon trying to help and FedEx refusing to do so THREE times, I canceled that original order.
Driving over 45 minutes to pick them up myself from the closest FedEx facility defeats the purpose of free, 2-day delivery and, out of principle, is allowing FedEx to cower away from their responsibilities.
Canon lost over a $1,000 order because their carrier was inflexible and unwilling to help.
I find it asinine that a billion-dollar, international shipping corporation cannot and will not adjust a delivery time for one of their customers and clients after a respectful, logical, and rational request. That is outright unprofessionalusm and immaturity.
If I were Canon, I'd reevaluate my business relationships with shipping carriers.
With that said, the cameras are great and perform very well. Just don't order them direct from Canon if you have specific delivery needs.

Exactly as described as what was said, judging from reviews, it's nice
looks nice, feels nice, exactly as described and great quality
