Rated 5 out of 5 by from MFC-J4535 chosen after HP and EPSON disappointed Considerable time was spent prior to choosing this Brother Printer MFC-J4535. The setup was straightforward. It has 2 paper trays. The larger bottom tray we use for paper that was already printed on one side. Paper that was otherwise trash, became our primary source for new prints. Tray 1 is used for new paper or glossy photo paper. It defaults to print from both, selecting the tray with paper. We chose tray 2 as the default source of previously used paper. We use the fax rarely but appreciate the option to send and receive faxes as it saves us time from driving to Staples at couple of times a year. The print quality has 4 choices from BEST to ECONOMY. We chose ECO mode because ink jet printers last best if the jets are used at least a little regularly but most of our prints are temporary and don’t require high resolution. This saves ink. Better than gray scale using only black ink. Although our EPSON printer boasted 2 years of ink, our experience with it was jamming and it caused our default laser to no longer function The HP versions removed the COPY function from the printer and forces us to get a cell phone to control a page duplication. Unnecessary complication. The control panel on the Brother was large and straightforward to use. Having had HP and EPSON ink jet printers in the past, the Brother serves our needs and budget best. Although I don’t know if we will use it, the J4535 allows us to fax straight from the PC without putting paper into the fax/printer. And an unexpected bonus was the inclusion of an older version of PaperPort, which we have used for maybe 20 years. This printer does use ink jet cartridges instead of tanks but the cost is reasonable. Happy Customer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WIFI connection issue Everything seems good except WIFI connection. I tried everything but WIFI connection disconnected many times a day. I hated this machine. I don't have problem from my previous dell printer. I don't know how to fix it at all. I may need to buy another wifi printer to replace this printer. I hope Brother fix this issue in the future update

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Print Quality; Poor Paper Handling I bought this printer because it uses the same cartridges as our previous printer (MFC-J4335). Print quality is quite good. I would have rated this printer a 5, but for the paper handling. The printer will frequenly (usually) take up more than one piece of paper resulting in misaligned pages at the top and bottom. The kind of paper used seems to make no difference. This was the same issue with the previous model.

At one point I had to reload the the printer software. I am still trying to figure out how to order new ink carrtidges without paying an insane fee.

I called customer service to find out why this new printers ink was empty after a few weeks and also that the manual feed was not working. The representative told me that the "up to one year ink" listed in the advertisement when I purchased the printer literally means the ink could last from one week up to a year, but it doesn't mean it "will" last a year. I mentioned that the ink should last longer that the a few weeks it was not my main printer. I asked to speak with a supervisor, she put me on hold, returned to the call with the same information, that the ink doesn't have to last a year. No supervisor. Then the representative miraculously could not longer hear me, and quickly said hello, hello, can't hear you and hung up. I never heard from Brother again. Nice! Thank you Brother Inc. Appreciate the support. Anyone want a Brother All-in-One still under warranty (wink, wink according to Brother Inc.) with a damaged manual feed and "Up to One year Ink " that's empty? Shameful!!!

I gave brothers two chances and just like the last one this printer did not work properly out of the box. Multiple attempts failed to overcome an error message even after reinstalling the software multiple times. I returned this one via Amazon Prime just like the first one. I used to be a big fan of the brother because it worked really well and ink system saved a lot of money. After I returned this I bought an HP printer

Had to figure out how to position legal paper (facing down) on outside to copy. Other brand printer of I used. I had to position legal paper to copy facing upward. Not sure the black ink cartridges will last as long as company claims.

I threw away a perfectly fine HP printer because HP would no longer support it & they wouldn't allow me to purchase support so I moved on.

The ease of us and setup and we do not need to do much after that cause it just maintains itselfe and prints and scans when we need it to (unlike our retired hp printer that didnt even last a year). I love that you can tilt the screen to see what it is saying. My printer sits on a tray near the floor so that is important. It uses very little ink and the output is incredible from documents to photos! I highly recommend this printer.

The reason I gave this four stars instead of five is the Ink issue. I cannot find replacement ink cartridges for this, I like to have a set of ink cartridges in reserve but no one seems to have stock on this, Not even Brother. But the operation of this printer is Superb...

I am very disappointed in the color printing as nothing I print is true to the color on my computer screen. Color printing is very important to me as I am a watercolor artist and need quality photos. I and my son have tried various things but haven’t been able to correct this. I would actually love to return it if it were possible.

As a teacher, I need a backup for my fancy laser color printer and the copiers/printers at work that fritz out on the daily (just a reality of teaching!) Ok, well, let me clarify what I mean by "good printer"...it was perfect, that is until I discovered that I can't buy ink anywhere. All I can say now is: bleep bleepity bleepin bleep bleep. Betrayed, annoyed, angry, and feelin' used...that's how I feel, Brother. REALLY? I'm still realing over that fateful moment my printing dreams were crushed. I'll take you there so you can feel the pain too....so it's Sunday, and I'm printing a ton of things for my 5th grade math & 6th grade writing classes...oh, no! I notice my starter ink (that DOES NOT last a year) is running low. Golly gosh, what'sa girl to do?! So newbie me dashes online, feeling confident, Ive done this before...there's nothing to it...in fact, Ima buy the XL ink, yee haw! And, BAM. The dread creeps through my veins. I feel like I just found out that my hubby cheated on me. The HORROR! Lol, no, actually, I feel WORSE. Worse, cuz I can't return this bleepin bleepy bleep bleep printer. Shameful. I mean, it's a good little printer.. WHEN IT HAS INK! Thank goodness for my standby old color laser printer from Brother's competitor that lets me buy aftermarket toner... shoot, with the Brother printer serving as a bookend now, I might just get wild from all this Brother ink drama and do somethin' CRAZY! Yup, Ima splurge and by the Canon official toner. Take THAT Brother! Thus the 2 star rating.

This model replaced an older mono brother printer that we had for years. Good quality print and scan copies. Love that it duplex prints and that we can switch between color and B&W. would highly recommend buying this printer

Worked okay but not much ink was included with printer. Then, after a year, the black ink stopped printing. Several cleaning cycles did not restore it so called support. The support system is extremely poor & difficult to navigate. Pop up window is in background so you don't realize when they respond. Went through HD cleaning via support & printing was restored but used a lot of ink. Printed for a few months more then died again so they sent out a replacement. Overall - good printer when it works but not reliable.

Fax function works fine, just don't use the fax feature that much any more. Print quality is good. Double sided printed is good. Ink lasts a long time which has been a great cost savings from previous printers I have had. Have only had to replace the black in over a year. Would have giving this 5 stars but the printer at occasionally will go off line - have not been able to figure out why that occurs. Overall would recommend this printer.

This unit is fast and has great color printing. We always used Brothers printers at work and when this unit became available it jump at geting one for home.

HP has really gotten bad over the past years. I spent time fighting the printer rather than getting work done. This is my first Brother printer. I wish I would have switched years ago.

Still learning how to enlarge or scale down efficiently. Black printing is a little on the light side. Pretty user friendly. Would definitely recommend this model.

Also, you cannot rename the machine as it pertains to emails being sent from it which can lead to your messages being sent to spam folders of the receivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, compact multifunction printer This little compact printer replaced an MFC-J6930DW printer which died (my fault- don’t ever try to haul out card stock which you inserted incorrectly!) after many years of faithful service. It’s not quite as fast as the MFC-J6930DW, but it does an awesome job, and it takes up a lot less space. It also weighs a LOT less - which is a blessing with my elderly back. I’ve had it for about a month now, and use it every day. I’m very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and speed Love it so far. Fast printing, love the smaller footprint and thedual paper trays. So many other printers have reduced their paper handling capacity. Haven't used enough ink yet to know if it does what they claim in that area. Scanner software is pretty basic and i don't see a way for me to only scan the area i want...i.e. a photo comes out as a full page of blank so have to edit the scan to get rid of the excess. Love the extra feeder on the back...great for envelopes instead of having to remove all paper etc. Also nice to have a lighter colored unit instead of standard black. Definitely would prefer a larger menu/settings screen on front...too easy to accidentally hit wrong options. I've always been an HP fan but their quality has gone down so drastically so took a chance on this Brother and do NOT regret the decision

You can't change trays nor picture orientation when printing from the mobile app. 2. You can't put 4 x 6 photo paper in tray 2 (nor change that to glossy paper.)

This Brother printer is great for a small business. The printing & scanning is clear and crisp and the toner lasts a long time, not quite a year, but a long time. You cannot go wrong in choosing this printer!

It finally went out and after a lot of research decided on a Brothers and glad I did it has performed beautifully. One years worth the Ink that's great. Printer responses are immediate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy installation and immediate first page out. I have been using this printer for over 6 months without a paper jam, or any other problem. The feature I like best is the extremely short time required for "first page out". I often print only one page at a time and I never owned a printer where I got that "first page" so quickly. Installation was also amazing as it installed itself immediately after I connected it to my network. This printer is excellent and I recommend it to everyone.

I tried everything including unplugging, plugging back in, open back paper feed, opened two different types of paper and nothing worked.

Takes a little time to adjust from using a competitors printer. It seems to be a well built printer. Software makes setting up printer easy and is necessary to adjust some features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughts on the MFC-J4535DW I believe that this printer does seem to use less ink than other printers I have had which is a great feature. That being said, I am not overly impressed by the quality of pictures that it prints out on photopaper. I am really saddened to fine out that this printer is not capable of using the Brother Control Center 4 software which is used for certain scanning functions. I do a lot of scanning of documents ranging from 6-20 pages, front to back. I even informed the salesman who sold me this printer that I needed this capability and he assured me this printer would do the job. After trying to install the CC4 software 4-5 times I finally called Brother's help line number. The individual I spoke with said that the only way I could do what I needed was to scan one side of the documents on the glass, and then scan the other side before printing. The feeder tray on the top of the printer does a great job of scanning multiple sheets of one sided documents, but is incapable of scanning front and back. It makes zero sense to me to make a printer with a sheet feeder that is only capable scanning one side. I don't have time to use the face plate to scan one side and then the other of numerous pages so I will be looking for another printer. The printer does produce what I think is high quality print, and if you do not need the ability to scan documents front and back all at one time, I believe you will be pleased by the results you will get if you purchase this model.

Apparently that version was discontinued. The MFC-J4535DW seems to use little ink and prints very fast. I had a problem with an email that refused to print. It disappeared and did not affect the printer as it continued to print everything else. I don't think this was a problem with the printer but I was never able to determine the cause.Overall, this is a very good printer.

However, we cannot get addresses to print properly on size 10 business envelopes - and we need this feature for our home business. A portion of the first line of an address will print, but that is all. Thankfully we also have an older BW laser printer that will print envelopes, but it tends to crinkle the edges of the envelopes a little. We have owned several all-in-one color printers to date and they all worked after the initial install and setup. But not this Brother printer!!! I've also emailed Brother and still have gotten NO WHERE!!!

The printer operates quietly and efficiently, and the cartridges are long-lasting. The color images are vibrant and defined, as are the black and white. Customer service is excellent. After a long period of overuse, the print function failed, and none of my troubleshooting and attempted fixes worked. After documentation was submitted by me, Brother replaced my printer with a brand new one of this same model. I’m an impressed new customer who will stay loyal. Almost forgot: the mobile app is essential, especially for scanning.

That's worth it the price in itself compared to others. print quality is excellant. I would like to see the Brother engineering come up with a way to close off the program durng a manual feed instead of me having to travel to the printer and select "finish". i would like to be able to do this from my computer.

It is capable of doing everything i could wish for and then some. It is fast and not noisy at all. Was very easy to set up on my home network. The large quantity of ink is one of the best features for me as I have printed a large number of pages and have noticed a very small drop in ink capacity, Love It.

We do not print every day, nor do we print in high volumes. Usually one or two copies of small documents. Have really enjoyed the versatility and print quality from our Brother printer! If the ADF was able to automatically duplex scan it would be perfect! (I guess that is another model). Highly recommend. Also, we seem to be getting more pages per cartridge than I initially anticipated. Still 60% full.

Printer in perfect condition, setup was very easy and worked first time including firmware update. Wifi connection stable. Printer material and Printing quality are very good. Printer features easy to access via tactile screen, a bit small but easy to walkthru. Tested most features that I use. Have not tried photo printing yet. User manual not included so I printed 700 pages on old printer that can only print black and no color. Can't believe the starter cartridges will be able to support one year print volume. Cartridges are expensive but good promotions if ordered directly from Brother. Free additional 6 month warranty extension which makes it 30 month warranty, not bad.

For my environment, the printer was connected directly to the LAN via an ethernet cable so that all my computers could print directly to the printer. That worked perfectly. However, I had significant problems with paper handling. I couldn't print two-sided pages without the printer regularly jamming. I also could not print envelopes. After several sessions with various members of the support staff, Brother offered to send me a new printer. The new printer is installed and working flawlessly. I'm now very happy with the printer and also that Brother was willing and able to do the right thing regarding my first printer.

It's a decent size that's not too bulky. Print quality is great for my needs (majority document printing, some photos. It was super easy to set up and I had no trouble connecting our household devices. Filling the ink tanks went smoothly. I've printed a bunch of documents and the ink seems to be used at a decent rate.

I discovered that Brothers produced reasonably priced products with very high customer satisfaction ratings and bought the MFC-J4535DW and so far have been extremely pleased with it. The setup was almost fully automated and progressed without any problems. It is fast and I'm very pleased with the out put. I haven't printed any photos so I can't comment on that. The INKvestment inkjet system should save me money over the life of the printer. A really great feature. To sum up...I am really happy with this printer.

It was easy to install as it basically walks you through it on the touch screen. No problem with installing the ink and our copies are clear. We have only had this since early December so cannot answer about longevity, but very happy with our purchase and would recommend to our friends and family.

It was easy to set up and although I haven't used some of the features, I found with little difficulty the basics of printing, scanning to my PC, saving to a PDF, using the auto paper feeder. A little different control console than we had previously. We took a chance. What a difference! Faster, easier to program, much more paper in tray, and two trays. No more need to change paper for envelopes. We do more and more printing each year. The ink reservoirs last a long time. The whole experience from the beginning with this machine has been a dream.

I cleaned the print heads over 5 times. I even aligned it multiple times. When running the quality check, the lines are missing for black ink but all the information in black ink is printedly properly

Never had such a problem with any other printer but this one right from the get-go was not as simple to set up...problematic wifi set up...and once wifi did get connected then printer only would print 2 or 3 times and then wifi was no longer available!!! If it wasn't such an expense (which we thought was going to be a great investment because we do a lot of printing, what a great disappointment!) would have thrown the annoying thing out!

I wish when I asked it to print it would turn on the printer and not go through several steps to do so if I don't manually turn it on. A little inconvenience but I love the speed and results when it is printing

It's a real problem with constant dropouts and having to reboot printer and/or laptop to maintain connection on Windows 11.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job but it's quirky This prints very quickly, is lightweight and takes up a very small footprint on a desk or cabinet shelf. The envelope guide at the back is awkward; you can print envelopes, but just one at a time, and 9 times out of 10 it will push the envelope back out and instruct you to put it back in before you can print. When it's out of paper, instead of a beep like other models, this one goes into extremely loud clicking convulsions. The first time I heard it, I had no idea what was happening or why. That said, if you need something to print quickly, this will do the trick.

The only problem I continually have is one of the printers goes offline and I cannot get it to come online. I have tried all the support suggestions and nothing works. As such, that printer is only usable as a copier.

Does produce good quality prints and copied, which is what is important. Software is inelegsnt and several functions do not work. Have not yet had time to troubleshoot to find problems. Annoy get my iPhones to print to the machine. Many items of setup are illogical or difficult to find. After six weeks, I have still not been able to figure out how to set default print to double sided. Have to set up each individual print job this way. Sgain, the basics of providing s quality print output is good. Software and setup leave much to be desired and I still cannot get several functions to work.

I had purchased a protection plan at Best Buy which covered the cost of replacement. I was very happy with the printer and did not hesitate to replace it with the same model. The ink that came with the printer lasted a year, and the general print quality was excellent. The printer does seem to use a fair amount of ink for its automatic cleaning, but for my needs I was happy with a years' worth of ink. I would buy another Brother printer again.

The scanning has not worked for me at all, regardless of the pc settings or having to register with something called Nuance. My previous printer/scanner machine easily scanned items to my pc folders but this one won't do so. After having this machine for one month, it is a fair printer but doesn't perform as a scanner (which I really need). Too much of a hassle to return or troubleshoot, so I'll have to find a different solution to scanning. I bought it for the ink refill process but regret the purchaseoverall.

The double-sided printing really does work well. Print of text and pics are clear and beautiful. Scanning is fast and easy. It can sleep a week and wakes the moment you tap print. It is always connected to the computer: I don't have to unplug and wait and re-plug for it find the computer. I love Brother and wish I had found one years ago. I have had 2 other big name printers and hated them. They were challenging to set up and did not perform the way they advertised and had issues with all the points I mentioned. I highly recommend this all in one printer. THANK YOU, BROTHER!

I love that it has two paper trays. It prints quite quickly and it duplexes without having to re-insert the pages. It's awesome and I highly recommend it!

It is a decent size footprint, not gangly like some all in one printers I have had in the (HP) past. I am pleased with the set up and connectivity. It is all relatively simple and straightforward. I have two critisizms. The paper tray is relatively thin plastic. It does its job, but it seems a bit light for what I would expect. The other is the small LCD display. It is almost too small to be usable, with a man of average size hands having difficulty typing passwords on the small LCD screen. WiFi connections are solid with so far no "printer offline" issues has I have had with other printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small office We bought this one due to the Brother name, and that it had two drawers so we could print on paper and labels without having to load paper manually. It has worked great, and has been reliable, but this is not for making copies of more than about 10 pages because the auto-document feeder and the output tray for the originals is too small to support more than about 10 pages. Ink usage has been minimal so far. Printing is good for what we use it for, which is office documents. Screen is very user friendly.

The unit was returned to Best Buy for an exchange. The unit was easy to setup, prints much faster than my HP printer. The entire process for getting it connected was so easy. It prints out quickly and I haven’t had a single issue. I get notices for updates and the updates are fast-no downtime. I am disappointed that , although the USB port works, I am unable to read the USB stored scans from the computer. I have to manually transfer the USB device (and files to my computer) and there they read fine. This is NOT a firewall issue as I have turned off ALL firewall, anti-virus, etc. One other point that I learned is that the auto scan can only accommodate about 12 pages (depending on paper thickness). Finally beware the cost of the Ink replacement cartridges...much more expensive than my old Brother MFC that died last month. I do recommend the MFC-J453d DW for home use (not office).

The staff @ Staples highly recommended the Brothers MFC- J4535DW over every other printer in the market, including HP printers which I previously owned...... The MFC-J4535 was easy to set-up and sync to my accessories including cell phones, printer.... The set-up process was relatively easy and non time consuming... I have not had any problems with the printer and am happy to recommend to anyone looking for a very good home/business use printer

The ink cartridges are great. BUT do not buy this printer if you print a lot of webpages. I have had more headaches and swearing at this printer because they designed their "Brother's Connect App" so that it cannot print web pages. Why oh why would you make a printer that cannot print web pages. Moreover, why not tell your customers up front about this huge problem. I have talked with Brothers many times , but all they say is you cannot print web pages through the "Brothers Connect App." They will not even change or fix the app so that you can print web pages. Moreover, if you do not want to get headaches or screaming at your printer daily, then avoid this inferior printer by Brothers. Sincerely, Sterling

However my home needs have changed (basically only printing like 5 pages a month) so I thought - I don't need a crazy expensive laser printer. Well over the past 11 months, I've printer 482 pages and it's been the most frustrating experience of my career. The printer quality was constantly poor, no matter how many times I ran the onboard print quality/nozzle cleaning troubleshooting. I just want to print black and white, seems reasonable? Nope, it won't print because the colour catridges have already gone dry (which is really short considering - I'm just printing documents). So I quickly replaced them with non-OEM catridges just because, I just want to print black and white. Nope! The output is ghostly faint, jagged lines, misaligned text etc. I contacted brother support - they refused to help me until I went out a bought more OEM cartridges. Really disappointed in Brother on this one.

Like many manufactures troublshooting only covers the item acting or doing a proper opperation. What if it doesn't do what its supposed to? I need help printing from the second tray (the reason I bought a 2 tray printer on Mac from different applications. I cannot find any support on this issue. Otherwise this printer has been fantastic.

I had issues with the FAX setup and after a while found you could set the receive function as Manual which fixed the interference with my phone answering machine. Other adjustments are not obvious - such as the DPI setting when scanning. It is adjustable but I needed the Manual to find out how. The scanning screens are no help. Text prints OK but maybe not as crisp as I might like but still very acceptable. I have not tried to print any photos yet. Nor do I have a good idea yet as to how long the ink lasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far it's been a great printer & solid value After owning four different Canon printers at one time and suffering from poor design, poor reliability, inability to perform self-help repairs, and lack of authorized service centers, we decided we've had it with Canon and looked for an alternative. We'd owned Epson and HP before and had problems with those brands as well.... which is why we moved to Canon. Hopefully, this Brother printer will deliver the reliability and service life we expect.

I can easily print an email from my phone. The duplex is a great paper saver. The scanner is another easy setup and fast method to load documents (or photos. Overall this is a wonderful addition to your computing system. I do not know about ink usage- I am still using the initial ink cartridges, although I always keep a spare for quick replacements.

Quality of copies, pictures, were less than HP. However, documents printed quickly with decent reproduction. Value vs. Price - this is a very good printer. Especially, for infrequent usage. Batch scanning has been difficult to use. That said, a more premium printer would have addressed these issues. Thank you. I am located in the midwest.

After researching the options, I decided on this Brother all in one printer based on price and features. I've used the printer now for several months and love it more each day. It is much more compact than my old printer, which is nice. Set up was easy. I like the fact that a year's worth of ink came in the box. I signed up for automatic refills and will not have to worry about running out of ink. The print quality and print speed are excellent. Loading paper is easy. The one paper jam was easy to clear unlike my old printer. The scan quality is really really good. It is easy to use. I am completely satisfied with the purchase and will buy another one for my second office.

A few times I've even gotten it to duplex a document but I'm not sure how I did it and I can't seem to do it again no matter what (used all the dialog boxes - I tried. Also had a bit of a challenge using card stock - had to cheat the system and tell the printer is was glossy paper). Those are the only things I still wish for to increase my rating. Plus the hideous sound it makes when it runs out of paper. If we had a dog it would likely howl at that sound - machine guns.

It's small footprint allows me to put it in the slide out printer platform of my desk. Scanning is excellent and intuitive with the included software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quirky but very good I've had HP (mostly, Canon and Epson. I was thinking this Brother could be the best of them all, were it not for its quirks. A few instances of either not sending or receiving faxes, failure to print because of paper not being in #1 drawer even when I selected 2 as the default. Very good support thought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Am I missing something? What printer today that has an ADF doesn't scan two sides through the ADF? I must be missing something. I am forced to use the glass and scan one side, open the cover, flip the copy and complete the scan. Had I known this model didn't utilize that common function I would not have bought it regardless of any other function. It prints well, does decent color, double stack trays, easy wifi connection.

I like the photo and envelope printing capability and the smaller footprint compared to my previous Epson All in One printer. This is a great printer for a home office or for everyday individual use. Ink is more economical than my previous printer, I highly recommend this model.

There are those products that require more effort that necessary to get set-up for use. This all-in-one printer, is not one of them. The entire process to get it set-up was absolutely logical with screen prompts and a well written set of steps included in the box. I particularly liked the ability to make adjustments to the paper/print quality before finalizing the set-up. Once the set up was complete, I was easily able to find the printer in my list, and the speed in which pages came out of the printer was remarkable. This is an ideal machine for a WFH office set-up or a compact network arrangement. It was truly, easy as Sunday morning to use this all-in-one.

I am really impressed with the printing quality of this printer. There are so many other options out there and it is nice to know the Brother brand earns its reputation. I use this printer to print work documents often and it was easy to connect to my wifi and mobile devices. The individual color ink cartridges are great and I anticipate them being easy to refill when they run out. Another plus is the claim of a year's worth of ink in the box. Other printers ship with short filled cartridges that need to be replaced after 20-100 pages.

The printer says that there is a new firmware available and to input the password (found on the back of the printer) I put the verbatim password in off the back of the printer and the printer tells me this is not correct..

I made the switch after I purchased a HP and within 2 years I had to replace it. Brother has a quality product with affortable ink. The print quality and speed meets all my needs. The setup is quick and easy. Finding the correct drivers and download are easy on the brother website by inputing the model. I would not purchase another brand of printer.

However, the ink is kind of intimidating. I was kind of lost and took time out another day to complete the setup process. After the setup, it was smooth sailing. It took some time. Syncing to my wifi went well. Connecting to my computer didn't go to well. As it stated the app wasn't a good support system and could cause errors. The app went well with my phone and installed instantly. The printer works great and connects well with the app. The quality of the prints are great. Its multi-tasking capabilities are phenomenal. The touch screen works well and i didnt have any issues.

With settings information buried in comments on the internet, I have been able to do what I need to do. — The most bothersome ongoing issue is the machine stops printing if the paper supply is out in drawer 1 even if you just want to print from drawer 2. The ink is being used up faster than expected.

It is not the biggest or fastest printer we have used but the lines are crips and the colors are vibrant. We also like that the small footprint doesn't take up as much space. The only real downside is it jams if you try to print double sided on cardstock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine, hampered by a fixable software flaw I like everything about this machine EXCEPT this imporant issue: The scanning software it comes with offers no support for manual duplex scanning. While it allows you to add pages to a scan, it does not properly interleave them after you scan one side of a multi-page document, then flip the document stack over and scan the other side. Such a feature is readily available in other scanning software I've used...even third-party products that previously shipped with other Brother MFCs I've owned. It does not even allow an option to manually re-order the scanned pages in the PDF it produces. Until this problem is addressed (hopefully in a forthcoming update to the Brother iPrint & Scan software that came with the machine), I do not recommend it.

The ink supply as well has been fantastic - I print often for work and personal and they have lasted over a year. Highly recommend this printer. I don't often write reviews but this calls for one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bother MFC-J4535DW I have this printer connected to our local network with several devices (desktop, laptop and iPhone and iPad) all work seamlessly. Wi-Fi was very straightforward to set up. Brother does have a downloadable app.for the Mac but I did not use it and all is fine. It is replacing an older Brother printer of the same design (home/office) ink jet, the old one lasted 10 years so if this one does the same great! Prints faster and quality is excellent for the price.

Secondly, the Wi-Fi doesn't connect. Third, It doesn't scan or make copies. All it does, is print low quality prints. The ink is grainy and the paper crumbles during print. And it is extremely loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Batch printing? I wanted it to use for the occasional time I really need colour, and also for my Christmas letters, where I like to include photographs. It did a splendid job on the Christmas letter, with one exception. Since the easiest way to do them would be to print in batches, that was the one part that didn't work as expected, but pulled the paper through incorrectly, so created pages with the pictures not where they were supposed to be. The solution was to do one page at a time, so I still had the product I wanted, but it took a lot more time. Don't know if the problem was the special Christmas paper, or if it would happen with the regular paper too. Was happy with the end product, but wish it could have been done in batches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible I typically don't write reviews on products because they generally function to the degree they are intended. Not this one, this machine is horrible. The top doesn't have a soft close feature to it so it bangs down when closing. You can't automatically duplex copy, you have to manually flip the paper.The envelope feed is manual on the back of the machine. The ink may last a year because its not very user friendly. Never again. I'm going back to my HP Office jet. the ink may be expensive but it works like you want it.

The scanner works great too (but it took me some playing around to get it to send it to my computer. It makes good copies, although I wish there was a way to do several at a time. Having to submit each page separately is kind of annoying.

We were able to connect to this printer from all operating systems includes ios, android, windows 10 and mac os on samsung note ultra, iphone 12, surface and macbook pro. ADF and NFC work great. Device recognition over wifi is instant. Print speed is excellent and software provided is user friendly. I could not find anything better than this model on the market for this price, I have bad experience with Canons, did not want to sign up for HP ink service. I had Brother monochrome laser printer in the past and that outlived other brands. Looking forward to using this for many years to come and moreover this is a new model.

Printer has all the features and versatility needed for an at-home office. One key feature missing from work-at-home environment has been not having great printing capabilities. This printer delivers on printing quality, printing versatility with multiple drawers, wireless for multiple devices, scanning capabilities. The set up of the printer could be better if Brother provided additional drivers. I did have to search and update my system software in order to utilize the available drivers. I was able to adapt, but an older cpu may not be able to run the drivers. Do your research ahead of time. Other than that, idea of estimating your printing needs and not having to worry about for awhile is a key feature. My previous home printer seemed to always know when I needed it most by deciding to run low on ink. And while one tells themselves that they'll be faithful and always have spare ink cartridges on hand, good intentions always fall short at least once if not on multiple occasions. Thus this printer should make that dilemma obsolete. Wish I would have had this printer 15mos ago.

This was by far the easiest printer to set up and everything works so much easier than the "other" brand I used. I have had only one paper jam--when I inserted paper through the back of the machine crooked. It stopped immediately and was easy to fix. I particularly like this feature of being able to print one or more checks through the back of the printer. The scanner works as expected. Double sided printing is easy. My photos are not quite as good as I'd hoped. I don't print that much each week but ink tanks are still full after printing numerous documents and a few pictures. Even with two paper trays it is a nice compact size. The screen is a bit small but easy to navigate. After two months I am happy with my purchase.

I received a free printer to review and this was my second Brother brand. Unpacking the printer and setting it up was very easy. I loved that the directions included were short and simple to the point. It took about 25 minutes to have it up and running with the test print being very clear. The extra time was due to the colors being circled. The colors were very vibrant which I loved. In terms of functions, the buttons were easy to get to, however I did not like that the screen did not come all the way up, it stayed at an angle and so it was hard for me to see the functions. I am not sure if this printer is no longer in production because I was unable to locate another one with the same model number. Overall, it does what is it supposed to do very well.

My only complaint is that the printer cannot be turned off while a landline phone is in current use due to that phone number being used with the fax settings. Also, the "Unable to print. Check your network connection" software message appears on my PC's desktop temporarily if I send a print job request from my desktop PC before turning on the printer requiring me to close that pop-up message each time.

The new printer performs just as flawlessly as the old one. Plus, it prints two-sided and color. The old one was only black, no color. The wireless connection to the new Mac was very easy to do once the app was downloaded. It does print a bit slower, but not so slow that we can’t live with it. And the print quality is very crisp and clean. I’m so glad I decided on buying this (another) Brother printer.

One problem is I have difficulty scanning directly to my computer, I have to scan to a USB drive for the time being. It may be a software glitch that I have not taken time to figure out yet. But the color printing is top of the line. I will soon be obtaining printer ink to have on hand, so I will calculate that into my feelings of the printer based on the cost of the ink. I had a Canon printer that was inexpensive, but they made up for in ink sales, thankfully off brand ink worked great.
