Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine Won't Do Squat Because of These Mat Adhesive lasts for about 10 scans then it gets worse and worse. All those free cut patterns that cut velum are a flat out lie. Velum won't stay down on a standard tack mat and it won't work on a heavy tack mat. All that money for a machine and it won't work without buying a new stick mat every month. Makes everyone feel like Brother is a rip off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needs a redesign The standard tack mat really needs to be redesigned or at the very least a stickier coating. The current mat tack does not last very long at all. Even taking care to clean etc. the last mat lasted maybe several uses. For $20, it should last MUCH longer. Terrible product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware: mat incompatibility I received the error message that the mat I was using could not be recognized. The mat I bought is a Brother product and your products do not clearly state that they are not interchangeable between different cutting machines - this should be placarded on the machine itself with the mat model number if this is the case. The mat I bought is the same size and looks very very similar (packaging and mat) to an inexperienced new ScanNCut owner. I don't understand why you don't design all standard mats - of all things - the same for all ScanNCut models. This makes no sense and now I'm stuck with 2 unpackaged/unusable mats. This experience is extremely frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works everytime but found cheaper elsewhere I’m using the mat that came with my machine that I bought around Christmas with zero issues. I’ve cut everything from paper to balsa wood and have yet to have to retack the mat. I clean with a alcohol free wipe or sponge and soapy water if it’s really bad, then air dry. No problem. I keep thinking I will splurge on a the high tack but masking tape works just fine. So I don’t see the point

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These mats are horrible and expensive! I have gone through multiple mats because they will not load correctly! I had 1 and only 1 that you guys replaced, and that one would not load correctly, and I was told you would not replace anymore. I've had 1 mat out of multiple that worked perfectly fine, but they don't last long, so now back to mats that do not load the right way! I'm about to sell my brother!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had I known... I would NEVER have bought this machine had I known that the mat would lose the stickiness and if you cut the same thing on the mat twice it would cut though and would cost so much to replace the mat. I'm so disappointed and sad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overpriced and bad quality Like the other reviews, this does not stay sticky long. I used a lint roller on it to help with cleaning but it still doesn't help. The price is triple that of other brands and aftermarket. There is absolutely no need to charge so much especially is the products doesn't last long and is poorly made. It's obviously a necessity to use with the cutting machines so its as if they charge more on purpose. Very frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Part of my DX225 There needs to be some way these mats last longer with feeding into the machine. I can keep it clean, even tape the back when it cuts through but loading is a terrible problem and it can’t be fixed. I’m so disappointed.

I also bought a Brother Scan sheet thinking this would at least aid in over use of my mat... The mat cannot be recognized by the cutter. UGH and it was not cheap. I also bought a 24 inch but am afraid to unwrap only to find the same issue. What good is then? Sorry but do not care for the mat issues with this cutter.

Turns out the name of the correct mat is the same name on packaging ad the right one. How can this be? I ordered 2 sets of these mats and need your help correcting this issue. The mats will not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No good mats No matter which mat you buy, the tack doesn't last very much. I noticed that Brother responded to clean it with a baby wipe and the tack will return. It doesn't work. For those who are having problems loading the mat, you need to find out if you have the correct mat. The mat for the DX 125 is NOT the same as the model below. To restore the tack in the mat you need to clean the mat completely with the baby wipe, which it will remove the glue, and reglue the mat with the big tip two way glue Zig memory system. Apply it generously evenly, is blue at first. Let it dry overnight or until is completely clear and it will restore the tack in the mat, You have to be careful when peeling the paper, you may have to use a scrap paper at first to make sure to reduce the tack. It last longer that original tack. For me is the only thin that has worked. I really hope that Brother come out with a way much better mat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should be called no tack I purchased a scan n cut specifically for the purpose of cutting backed fabric. The program, machine all do a great job. These mats make regret a common word. I have only used the machine for a week and have three mats with no stick. Fabric moves all over the place I do not live close to a brother dealer so this is now useless to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The mats don't load... Just purchased 3 NEW mats for my machine purchased in April 2020. Unfortunately, all 3 new mats will not load! They are shown to be used with the machine I purchased. I found no information in the box with the machine, or on the mats packaging that they wouldn't work with the SDX125 machine... Now I have 3 open unusable mats that cannot be returned from where they were purchased. I finally googled mat won't load to and discovered on Youtube there are videos about this problem - so it is a know issue in the crafting community. They explained the dots on the botton of the mat had to be the correct year and month to work with this machine. Would have been nice to be aware of this before purchasing and how exactly do you go about getting the right dots when you order on-line? I'm very frustrated.

I will be buying a new mat tomorrow, and I’m hoping they have been redesigned or fixed. I always clean the mat with baby wipes after each use. And I use the dust cover all the time. I don’t know what else to do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New mats won' load My new SDX1000 ScannCut machine came with a Standard adhesive mat. I bought 2 new low tack mats. Neither will load. After contacting Brother online was told the problem is that I bought the wrong mats. The only thing that identifies that they are the wrong mats is a number on the back. I am new to these machines and there were only these mats on display so I concluded that the must be compatible as the only writing on the front states ScanNcut and DesignNcut. There is no mention of models that are compatible or to only be used with etc. I am devastated as I have wasted a lot of money purchasing these mats which are useless to me as the packaging has been opened. Being new to these machines I had no idea of the difference and I cannot find anywhere in the written material that came with the machine that states that different models used different mats, only to use authentic Brother mats etc. I will not be recommending this machine to any of my crafting friends who are waiting for me to tell them if the purchase was worth the expense. My answer will be that the machine has cut ok only the automatic blade is hit and miss with different papers and tears projects so I have to adjust the setting for it to be successful and to be fair with experience that should improve. It took me a long time to get this machine and so far it has been a disappointment. I suggest you consider in the future clearly stating on the packaging which machines the mats are for to eliminate this mistake from being repeated as I notice I am not the only person with this problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No indication that it won’t work My sweet hubby bought me a new SDX125 for Christmas and told me the mats wouldn’t last as long as my Cricut mats did. So the next time I was at my local scrapbook store I picked up an extra. I’m starting my Easter crafting tonight, and my first mat isn’t sticky. No biggie, I have a new one. I prep my first project onto my new mat and...it won’t load. Repeatedly. I go to the web to figure out what I’m doing wrong and find that it’s the WRONG MAT! I was ready for a quick fix and instead found out I have a useless mat that was NOT cheap. Totally disappointed and can hardly bear the idea of telling hubby I have to buy another, very specific and pricy new mat to make this crazy-expensive machine work. I can’t return the “new” mat, since I already had paper stuck on it to cut. Going to try to find someone online else who bought the wrong one and needs THIS one, to try to recoup some of my loss. I thought this would be a great machine to help me craft more easily. What a let-down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Agreement The mats suck. I bought this machine because of all it claimed to be able to do. I cleaned the mat each and every time with a baby wipe. I stored it with the plastic sheet. I was able to cut 15 sheets of faux leather before it wont stick down any more. The high tack support sheet became a 1 time use thing because the auto sensor cuts the mat every time. The standard tack is low tack, the high tack support sheet is too much. Instead of telling us to contact customer support, which I did 3 times and NEVER heard back, maybe you guys listen to us? These mats are too expensive for the flimsy plastic to have to replace them once a week. I have had my machine 3 weeks, Im about to send it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not compatible! I purchased this mat since it was compatible with dx machines. I have an sdx125 machine. The machine will not work with that mat. Why do you make it so hard to determine what type of mat one needs to purchase. You have a great product but your user guides are horrendous and your website does not list compatible products for the machine. I would like a response as to what type of mat works with my machine as this is unacceptable for such a high priced product.

I have spent so much money on mats because I use my machine A LOT and they don’t stay tacky no matter what I do. I actually steer people away from SNC just because of this problem.

She used it regularly until the mat started to fade, and then it would not cut material satisfactorily. We tried the suggested solutions by Brother, and on Youtube, with minimal success. We bought a new mat, but the half life of it was worse than the original with the machine. Being from Canada, the mats, even from after-markets like Amazon are ridiculously expensive for what is being offered. There must be solution, as a $500+ machine is sitting and collecting dust!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORST EXPERIENCE I have used machines from different brands so far but experience with BROTHER HAS BEEN THE WORST. First machine I owned from the brand is SDX1000. Firstly this company provides no clear and complete information about its products and parts. Secondly the parts are very difficult to find. I have wasted a lot of money just because I could not easily find the mat for this machine and finally when I found one, it came out to be the incorrect one. How difficult it is to mention on their products, what all is it compatible with. Information is hard to find about their products and customer support is not so good. I have lost all my money spent on the machine and its mat. I highly recommend not to buy Brother products or research extremely well before buying one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The mat leaves a lot to be desired, I have to agree with a lot of the comments here. I bought this machine about 8 months ago, and i used it for less than 6 months before the mat was completely unsuable. I just cut Heat transfer paper for apparel graphics and within 6 months of pretty light use, the tack on this mat was gone, and there was no washing or saving it. Then when I tried to buy a replacement mat, it was very difficult to find. On top of that and a single standard mat is costing me $35. Silhouette and Circuit machines have multiple mat packs for under $15. for This isn't worth it. Not really happy with the overall usefulness of the machine and mat when you consider this.
