Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wall Outlet Great overall design. It has a sturdy plastic casing and a single 3 prong plug on the back. Once it's inserted into a wall outlet and secured with the center screw, it is quite stable as well. Six outlets with grounds and two USB ports...way more than I would expect from this type of product. The product dimensions are roughly 5.25" H x 4.75" L x 1.25" D. The geen light on top is a great feature that will always let you know when you're protected. Other than that, the plugs are nice and tight and the USB chargers work perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features I just received this item and I haven't had a chance to use it but I know exactly where it is going to go and I am really exited to get it installed. I have always enjoyed using APC products and I look forward to using other new items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works really good I installed the unit and really liked its form factor, especially the 2 5v charging ports. Then about three days after installation, we had a series of short power outages, likely caused by high winds. From experience, these types of outages often result in power spikes. All the equipment attached o the unit came through without incident, so it seemed to lwork really well and protect the connected equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for the Bedroom All technical specifications and performance aside, this is not a unit I would recommend for the bedroom. The green "Protected" indicator light has a significant glow in a dark bedroom ... almost acting as a unwanted night-light. I ended up moving it out of the bedroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product that works. This surge arrest wall outlet is very well made. It installs easily and lies flat to the wall - very sturdy. Having the USB charger ports is excellent. I like the green light to let you know it is protecting your items. We have a lot of power blips and this is just the thing we needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you need a six pack on an outlet anyway... Let me begin by stating I was giving this product by APC in exchange for my honest review. It's by APC, a brand I trust. I have no way of testing the unit's level of protection but I believe APC's specifications to be honest. The design is flatter than the usual six pack that goes over an outlet and unlike those, this is designed to be used in conjunction with the wallplate instead of as a replacement for it as your typical six pack does. Also unlike those this isn't two three-way splitters, it only plugs into the top outlet (if your outlet is oriented such that it makes faces of the plugs) with a plastic stick that goes into the ground hole of the bottom outlet for stability. It comes with an included screw to replace the one holding in the wallplate. Along the top of the device is a clear plastic piece which lights up green if the outlet is properly grounded. Nice to know, surely, but it does preclude the use of this in a bedroom you'd want dark. It's really bright! I didn't test to see what happens if it were plugged into an ungrounded outlet. The USB ports are rated for 2.4A which I verified. In short this seems to be what it says on the tin with better protection that a typical six pack for a wall outlet would offer at the expense of a bright green light which never turns off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Power We Need I've always trusted APC to provide much better than average power conditioning. With the addition of this product line, APC is becoming competitive with a lot of other brands for wall mount surge suppressors and charging devices. The three big features of the Essential SurgeArrest 6 are the six outlets with 540 joules (a medium level) of surge suppression with equipment coverage included, the two 5v/2.4a USB charging ports, and the indicator light that shows circuit protection is engaged and intact. It mounts securely to the receptacle and becomes like a little power hub in its part of the room. We had family visiting recently, and I noticed three charging cords (2 USB and one in a power outlet) emanating from this unit. These are sure to be big sellers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from looks very useful with one minor problem I received this product as part of the APC review program, so did not see the actual product first. This is described as a wall tap, which I assumed was a standard multi-outlet that plugs into a normal double outlet. This item actually screws into the mounting screw for the outlet cover plate. That would make it very sturdy compared to typical multi-port outlets that pull loose easily. I happen to have non-standard outlet covers because I have centralized coax and Ethernet located at the electric outlets. No central screw means I can't use this where I would need it. The setup is excellent, with 6 electrical and 2 USB ports and a light showing the outlets are protected. It's heavy duty and well designed, and I trust the APC brand for quality. I will pass this along to a family member who doesn't have the limitations I'm working with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combination of features in a small package This combo surge suppressor, outlet wall tap, and USB charging ports is a great idea for use near a seating area loaded with electronic devices like mine. It has the advantage of plugging directly into a standard duplex wall outlet and has enough extra outlets to power a reasonable amount of gear. In my chosen spot, I have a Amazon Echo, a lamp with a remote control (expensive hardware) light bulb in it, and several chargers for assorted stuff like my phone. Now I have reduced the clutter and can eliminate a couple USB stand-alone chargers and plug straight in. That's the overwhelmingly good stuff. A couple very minor quibbles: The device is designed to screw down securely when used with a standard duplex outlet with ONE screw in the center of the wall plate. Unfortunately, my decorator style wall plates and outlets have screws positioned on each end of the plate. Easily fixed by removing the device's screw, but may lead to the surge supressor being easy to dislodge from the outlet. The other minor thing is that all six outlets on the device are fed from only one side of the outlet. I have another location where I would like to use it, but that outlet has one side switched remotely for use with a lamp on the end table. This surge suppressor won't pass that side of the outlet through to one set of three taps on the device. Overall, I like the functionality of the surge suppressor, and and since we are supposed to get some rather rough weather in a few hours, the surge suppressor capability may come in handy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good! This is a well designed surge suppressor wall outlet. Not only does it meet my expectations, the protected light on top makes a fantastic night light! The two usb ports also come in handy for charging my cell, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! This is an excellent product. I adds the number of outlets you have available for devices, PLUS you have the USB ports handy to recharge your phone, etc. I have found this to be a very valuable item to have and highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has many plugs I like that it has six plugs and also usb charging ports, but the green glowing light is a little bright at night. Also think the wall tap should plug into both outlets, not just one. Otherwise, it works great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So. Convenient I just received this product and I love it. Plugged it in immediately and it made my life so easy. No longer need to hunt for USB connections. Everything is in one place and if it’s made by APC you know it will always be reliable,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit too well. I removed the face plate from the outlet and plugged the unit into the socket. After tightening the screw, I noticed a 3/16" gap all around the edges of the product between the plastic and the wall. This will allow drafts and insects to enter my room, in addition to being unsightly. The product should probably have a flange around the edges on the back so that it will fit snugly against the wall without the user being required to remove and reinstall the electrical outlet — especially if an electrician must be called. It does, however, serve the purpose for which it was acquired. I can plug in all of the devices I needed to, even though one of them is quite large and covers several outlets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Outlet! Great overall design. Six outlets with grounds and two USB ports...way more than I would expect from this type of product. The product protrudes about an inch from the wall. I have 4 pictures included to show a close up and overall dimensions. For your safety, be sure to place this product ON TOP of your normal wall outlet cover. I tried it the other way, but there are gaps (at least with my outlet) where things might fall into the wall space. The "protected" light is a great feature that will always let you know when you're safe. I have yet to experience any surges with devices plugged in, so I'm not sure if the light changes colors or go out. I will have to post an update on that. Other than that, the plugs are nice and tight and the USB chargers work perfectly.
