Veeam Backup and Replication is best way to back up and protect your virtual machines. It does not just support your virtual environment - rather, it leverages that environment to provide a whole level of protection for all your virtualized applications, services and data.

Backups are worthless if you cannot recover from them. With Veeam Backup and Replication, you can verify the recoverability of your backups - not just a few selected backups, but every backup, of every virtual machine, every time. You no longer have to settle for backups that "might work" or "should work" - instead, you can rest easy knowing that your backups actually do work.

Veeam Backup and Replication provides exceptional value. It is licensed per CPU socket on the ESX host and includes backup, replication, deduplication and centralized management. There are no per-agent, per-VM or per-application license fees.

Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus for VMware - license + 1 Year Ma is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 105.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from there should be more manufacturers integrating their technologies, as that would allow more customers to make use of this excellent feature. Valuable FeaturesRTO time and speedThe product allows us to use data more efficiently, reducing the cost of storage and backup time. It is vital to have data available in the shortest possible time.Instant file level recoveryInstant File-Level Restore or IFLR can be used to recover individual VM guest OS files and folders from VM backups. The product doesn't require you to restore a full backup and later search for a specific file. Instead, we can restore files and folders from a regular image-level backup at the necessary point-in-time. IFLR also works with any VM guest OS file system, expanding our possibilities in mixed environments.WAN AccelerationIf you want to do remote backup or replication jobs, WAN acceleration technology is ideal. It works without problems and with limited bandwidths. When using the accelerators, the CBT allows us to work very efficiently. Before, we needed to make these copies in remote repositories, which took hours. The connections also failed very often. This type of situation is what optimizes WAN Acceleration.Integrated vendorsWith regard to the integration of Veeam with storage manufacturers, it must be said that the list always continues to grow. This growth is very good for all who use these brands. However, there should be more manufacturers integrating their technologies, as that would allow more customers to make use of this excellent feature.Improvements to My OrganizationOur virtual datacenter is protected with different types of backups, but critical ones are "always protected". We can restore a VM backup in just minutes, even from a snapshot.Room for ImprovementThe updates of this product are very fast and they always improve the solution.Stability IssuesI have not encountered any issues with stability.Scalability IssuesI have not encountered any issues with scalability.Customer Service and Technical SupportI would rate the level of technical support 10/10. It is very fast and reliable.Previous SolutionsI previously used Symantec Backup Exec. It was slow, incomplete, complex, used agents, and the technical support was useless, slow and ineffective. We would pray that we would not have a problem.Initial SetupThe setup is very easy and totally intuitive.Pricing, Setup Cost and LicensingThe price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy.Other Solutions ConsideredWe did not evaluate other options.Other AdviceIf you have virtualized or physical (lastest update of Veeam), you can trust in this solution. Our recovery time was reduced from many hours to a few minutes. Integration with VMware is transparent, easy to use, and intuitive. Backup storage is very efficient and using CBT saves a lot of disk space. Using tapes was greatly improved in the latest version, as well as integration with other sellers' storage products.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Valuable FeaturesSurebackup, reverse incremental, parallel processing for VM and the hdd and many more.Improvements to My OrganizationVery smooth backup and restore when required.Room for ImprovementAs every application has a scope of improvement so the Veeam, there are many areas they can improve on: the CBT errors, in hot add many times it is found that the Veeam proxy do not release the HDD even after the backup, offsite repository is not very stable.Use of Solution3 years.Deployment IssuesNot Much, environment specific.Stability IssuesNot much, it is quite stable.Scalability IssuesNo.Customer Service and Technical SupportCustomer Service: Good.Technical Support: Good.Previous SolutionsNo.Initial SetupStraightforward but have some complicity in configuring offsite backup.Implementation TeamVendor Team, team was domain expert.ROIROI for backup point of view comes only when you are in a condition that only backup can help, I have been in such conditions many times in which Veeam has proved to be a EXCELLENT ROI for my company.Other Solutions ConsideredYes, Avamar.Other AdviceExcellent product for medium size datacenter, not sure about the large datacenters.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Being agentless minimized the install process for new servers. Valuable FeaturesBeing agentless minimized the install process for new servers. If you are using folder on your backup configuration, all the new servers has been backuped without any intervention on the backup server.Improvements to My OrganizationIt provides more efficiency to restore lost files that were deleted by users. It provides a restoring process for a complete server and replications on another site for the DRP servers.Room for ImprovementClient/agent for non-virtualized servers: This can be improved by integrating them in the same way as the virtual servers and integrating them into the same backup jobs. Actually, the Veeam team recommends making separate jobs for these servers. The options of the job are not the same if it’s a VM or a physical server. The best solution is to have the same functionality for a virtual or a physical server.I have already discussed this point with a member of the Veeam development and he replied to me that it will be improved in Version10. We are waiting ;-)Use of SolutionMore than 5 yearsDeployment IssuesNothing, the only problem encounter during installation is a Windows firewall problem but not linked directly to Veeam.Stability IssuesWe have not had stability issues.Scalability IssuesWe have not had scalability issues.Customer ServiceCustomer service is very reactive, you can open a call and be sure that's solved or helped on a 24h max.Technical SupportI would give technical support a rating of 10/10 for fast replies and solutions.Previous SolutionsWe were using Symantec Backup Exec. We switched for the simplicity of management with Veeam.Initial SetupThe initial setup was straightforward, but now our infrastructure is more complex. We started with five servers and now we have more than 150 servers protected by the Veeam solution.Pricing, Setup Cost and LicensingThe pricing and licensing are reasonable.Other Solutions ConsideredWe looked at Acronis, NetBackup, and Backup Exec.Other AdviceNo special advice, other than just follow the wizard and you can start faster than another solution.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:We are a dealer for Veeam products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is very simple and fast to power-on a replicated server, making it come online again Valuable FeaturesReplication (fast recovery for replicated servers).Improvements to My OrganizationIt has decreased downtime issues. By using replication, we decreased our downtime for crashed servers and having other service/system issues. It is very simple and fast to power-on a replicated server, making it come online again.Room for ImprovementI'm not sure if this option is available in new versions. But different types of licenses could not be used on the same Veeam server in the past, it would be good to be able to use mixed types of licenses in the same server.Use of SolutionAbout four years.Stability IssuesNo, it is working nice and smooth.Scalability IssuesNo, because we are using this product in a small environment.Technical SupportWe do not encounter many problems with the product, but we do get an instant response when needed.Previous SolutionsWe are still using a different product for backup. Veeam is being used for replication only.Initial SetupSince it was a single server setup, it was easy to install and configure.Pricing, Setup Cost and LicensingIt is acceptable for us because we having been using it for approximately four years. However, I think for new buyers/customers it may be cheaper than other products.Other Solutions ConsideredAnother product is being used for backup. We did a PoC with Veeam, then bought it.Other AdviceIt is easy, with many features, (I think) it is cheaper. Very useful for virtual environments.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VM backup and ease of use are the most valuable features. Valuable Features:VM backup and ease of use are the most valuable features.Improvements to My Organization:It helps the discovery of the new VM. It allows me to use the same tools when we decided to move from VMware to Hyper-V.Room for Improvement:The physical system support needs improvement. I know that the latest version has this feature, but it was too late as I am already using it for three years. For the time being, I have used another backup software (EMC NetWorker) and they seem to catch up a lot during the past few years.Use of Solution:I have used this solution for three years.Stability Issues:Stability is good so far; hopefully, we will not have any problems.Previous Solutions:If one day the EMC NetWorker will offer same features, then I will have to switch as they offer more than what I want.Initial Setup:The setup looks simple, you set it up once and forget .Cost and Licensing Advice:If they can give more add-ons (such as training) for the pricing.Other Solutions Considered:We looked at EMC NetWorker and Veritas NetBackup.Other Advice:Keep it up.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We can offer disaster recovery services for managed services customers. Valuable Features:* The object level restore from the Active Directory* Microsoft Exchange* Microsoft SQL* Backup and restore of vCloud Director Objects* Direct SAN integration with 3PARI like these features because they are helpful in offering additional and detailed disaster recovery services for managed services customers. The direct SAN backup feature perfectly integrates with our 3PAR storage infrastructure. It has significantly reduced the time it takes to backup virtual machines.Improvements to My Organization:This product has improved the entire RTO and allows us to restore applications and services to customers within a few minutes.Room for Improvement:The direct SAN backup integration can be perfected by improving the snapshot removal mechanism and process from the storage volumes. This will prevent stale snapshots from accumulating on the data stores, which in turn consumes precious space.Use of Solution:I have used this solution for seven years.Stability Issues:There were no stability issues that I can think of. When the best practices for deploying Veeam Backup and Replication are strictly followed, the system can be stable without any issues.Scalability Issues:We didn’t have any problems with scalability at all. It all comes down to how to deploy the Veeam infrastructure. If it is well designed, scaling is no problem.Technical Support:The technical support is fairly good.Previous Solutions:I have used other solutions in the past, but I switched because Veeam just works. It is pretty easy to set up, use, and it has fewer limitations.Initial Setup:The setup is straightforward, depending on how you want to deploy it. The installer can configure everything for you on the same server with all the relevant databases. It will also automatically install any required external software needed for Veeam to operate.Cost and Licensing Advice:The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment. That should be taken into consideration when purchasing the Veeam Backup and Replication solution.Other Solutions Considered:I have used TSM, Backup Exec, and Retrospect.Other Advice:I would recommend IT professionals who run their infrastructure in a predominantly virtual environment to go for the Veeam Backup and Replication solution. It does the job and it is relatively easy to set up.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:We are a Veeam partner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The SQL table-level restore helps the customer to restore a single table instead of the entire database. Valuable Features:There are many features that include the SQL table-level restore, Instant VM Recovery, and SureBackup, which are valuable to us.* SQL table-level restore: It helps the customer to restore a single table instead of the entire database which reduces the backup window dramatically.* Instant VM Recovery: It helps in case of a VM crash down.* SureBackup: You are assured that your backup is recoverable.Improvements to My Organization:We are a MSP and we deliver the best solutions to our customers.Veeam was one of the key products available for the virtualized environment.Room for Improvement:They have to expand their operations for the physical environment.Use of Solution:I have used this solution for two years.Stability Issues:There were no stability issues. If VMware works fine, then you wont face any issues with Veeam.Technical Support:Since they don’t have any technical support center in India, I would like to rate it a 5 out of 10.Previous Solutions:As I have mentioned earlier, we are a MSP and we design solutions according to the customer's needs.Cost and Licensing Advice:Pricing is reasonable and the product is worth investing in.Other Solutions Considered:We were evaluating Arcserve for the virtual environment. However, Veaam has better adaptability towards the virtual environment.Other Advice:VMware = Veeam is the best backup and replication solution.Microsoft Hyper-V = Veeam is the best backup and replication solution.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
