With all the features and capabilities of the EOS 5DS, the EOS 5DS R camera offers the potential for even greater sharpness and fine detail for specialized situations. It features the same Canon designed and manufactured 50.6 Megapixel sensor, with the low-pass filter (LPF) effect cancelled to provide even more fine edge sharpness and detail for critical subjects such as detailed landscapes, and other situations where getting the sharpest subject detail is a priority.

Canon EOS 5DS R - digital camera - body only is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great body for me. I purchased this body as a back up to my 5Dm4, which I also love. But I wanted to get something with slightly different capabilities. I'm really glad I did. While the Mark 4 is great all around, this one gives me more information to work with in post. The image starts out larger, and more detailed so I love starting with more information. I can always crop or subtract. It's understandably a bit slower. I almost always shoot off the tripod at lower ISO's with this body. If I'm going to hand shoot, or need higher ISO I'll use the Mark 4. For me that makes the 5DSR my go to especially for landscape. And both bodies back each other up regardless of what I'm doing. Hope this is helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Crtters It makes my 100-400 better for birds, both the resolution and the field of view angle for a given resolution, improve. One is more likely to get a useful picture of a bird in flight using this camera, on basic principles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely Blown Away !! I purchased the camera in January 2018. I have the 1dx, 1dx mark 2, 5d mark 4 and now the 5dsr. I purchased it with the intent as option for shooing senior portraits. It has now become my primary camera for portraits and weddings. The clarity and detail of the camera blowns me away as well as my clients. From a portrait photographer stand point I can not recommend a better camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding clarity I've had my 5DS R now for only a few months but I'm already greatly impressed with what it can do. I use the 24-70mm, 100-400mm and the 800mm with this camera and have shot several nature scenes in Alaska and parts of Europe. Impressive! The lenses and camera work well together to deliver extremely sharp images that allows for the full benefit that 50.6 megapixels can deliver in enlarging the image while maintaining a crisp, sharp focus -- a level of focus I've been attempting to capture for years. This level of focus with the appropriate lenses far exceeds the number of other canon cameras I have. The only problem I find is that it uses up battery power relatively quickly and accessories like the grip are hard to get as they are often "out of stock"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon EOS 5DS R review I have had my camera about 1 1/2 years. I wish it had 2 SD card slots instead of 1 SD slot and 1 CF card slot! I also wish it have a flip out live view screen for low shooting in wet areas! I also wish that it had a green square for the onscreen level when it was level! Love the camera but needed to find more storage because of large files per photo! Clarity because of higher Megapixels is remarkable! Lots of GREAT features and custom functions!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget the reviews designed to spook buyers I did research and fretted for 6 months before buying, weighing heavily the option of the 5D iv, and even a Nikon transconversion. The negative reviews seem now to have been the result of putting the camera in difficult situations designed to highlight weakness. Any camera can be made to fail in that game. I'm moving up from a 5D ii, and wow, what an overall experiential and technical upgrade.I've now shot two major aerial photo jobs of gold mines in Nevada and Alaska and the camera performed flawlessly and produced impressively detailed and beautifully colored images. Windy, vibrating Cessna and Bell platforms didn't produce a single fuzzy image when fast shutter speeds (1/500 and faster) and IS were used. I've relied on the EF 16-35 f4 L and EF 24-105 f4 L for these. Likely some of my prime Ls would render even sharper images, but the zooms did just fine. The worry of moire and other imaging artifacts turns out to be overblown - none of that was visible in hundreds of shots in widely varying light and fine repetitive mine engineering ground patterns. The comments of many reviews about a steady platform requirement just seem to be false. A very impressive camera, I only wish I had bought it sooner. The only downside is that now I need a computer with more horsepower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from outstanding camera I bought this camera almost a year ago.. I take mostly macro photos of flowers and the detail and color of this sensor size coupled with Canon's macro 100mm lens is phenomenal! 11x14 inch prints are stunning.
