Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good data reduction capabilities, alleviates network congestion, and helpful support What is our primary use case? We have one of these files servers in each of our branch offices. It hosts our Oracle database, which is replicated from our main site to the DR site. It also hosts our VMware vSphere solution. What is most valuable? The file and data reduction capabilities are very good. Without it, we have a great deal of network congestion. The monitoring integration is good. Generally, the compatibility with other products is good. What needs improvement? We would like to have better features for path selection. For example, if we know the network is going to go down then we would like to set up an alternate route for data packets in real-time. The firewall should be enhanced because the one that is included is very limited in terms of features. For how long have I used the solution? In the organization, Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect has been used for approximately six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This product has scaled according to our needs. We have approximately 200 users. How are customer service and support? The technical support is very good and I am satisfied with it. We don't speak with the vendor directly. Rather, we deal with a distributor and we have a good relationship with their support team. We can call and reach them at any time. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing for this product is good. Which other solutions did I evaluate? As Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is nearing end-of-life, our license with it is expiring and we are procuring a new solution. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Private Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High availability, good support, but licensing model could improve What is our primary use case? Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is used to manage VMware. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect for approximately two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect has high availability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is good. You can create a cluster and deploy more VMs. This solution is only used by approximately three administrators. How are customer service and support? I have not used the support from Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is not straightforward. It took us approximately four hours to deploy. What about the implementation team? We are integrators, we did the implementation of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect ourselves. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The license for Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is paid annually. The license features should improve in the solution. For example, when you purchase VMware, it starts at a low level that has some functionality. When you want to expand, the difference in the price is substantial. I purchased the lower functional version for $4,000, and now if I want to upgrade, they ask me for $80,000. This is a $76,000 difference, there's no logic, but this is VMware. What other advice do I have? My advice to others is before they implement the solution they should have the knowledge of how to use it. I rate Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful Boost feature, scalable, and quiet What is our primary use case? We use Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect for three use cases. We have deployed it in a bank customer for a VPN over the internet for a backup to the MPS. We use it for managing satellite microwave and fiber connections with different latencies in the same location. In a multi-branch enterprise, we used the solution for two links on each site with other links together all aggregated in one network. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is the boost. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect for approximately five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is very good and quiet. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is scalable. I have many clients using Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect but they do not know they are using my service. How are customer service and support? The support from Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect has declined since Aruba acquired them. The knowledge and speed of the agents could improve. I need to transfer units between customers. Most of the issues that I have with the support are with licensing. It is difficult and always takes time. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is straightforward. The full setup of one customer network on the 14 branches took us approximately 48 hours. This includes the installation of hardware, other solutions, and the installation switches on the branches What about the implementation team? We used an integrator for the implementation of Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is an annual license required to use Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect. What other advice do I have? As an integrator, I recommend Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect. However, it does depend on the use case. I rate Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Integrated security features and robust support improve network management What is our primary use case? The solution was installed across two branches for a financial institution. One location had a data center, and the other was a branch office. For SaaS applications, traffic broke out from EdgeConnect directly to the cloud. Applications using the data center were channeled through the MPLS link. What is most valuable? Aruba EdgeConnect has an inbuilt next-generation firewall, advanced routing capabilities, and one compression capacity. It offers advanced security features like DDoS protection and IDS/IPS. Additionally, it integrates perfectly with Aruba ClearPass, offering a robust security solution, covering network admin, access control, authentication, and authorization. What needs improvement? I would like to have a physical appliance to use with the orchestrator for managing all EdgeConnect appliances. Currently, it's a virtual appliance. I would also like the management of EdgeConnect appliances to be incorporated into Aruba Central Cloud Central. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN platform for two years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? In terms of stability, I rate EdgeConnect at nine out of ten. It is very stable, with no significant issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Aruba EdgeConnect is scalable. We are looking to expand the number of locations and branches in the future. How are customer service and support? Aruba's technical support is very responsive. They have been helpful whenever needed. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup required just a few hours, and the whole setup was good to go. What about the implementation team? I had someone working with me during the installation, a total of two people involved. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing is not too expensive, however, it is also not cheap. It is manageable with significant discounts. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate the cost as seven. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before switching, we asked around and received recommendations for Aruba EdgeConnect. They are leaders in the SD-WAN solution. What other advice do I have? I rate the Aruba EdgeConnect solution nine out of ten. I would like to recommend it to other organizations. It worked as expected during our proof of concept. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides seamless connectivity and efficient management but needs pricing adjustments What is our primary use case? A typical use case for the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform is high latency connectivity, which is why I or my clients use this solution. What is most valuable? The best features of the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform are capacity management and network capacity management. Regarding the Zero Touch Provisioning feature, they are one of the players that really use ZTP from A to Z, and they cover all points of the ZTP. I have used Aruba EdgeConnect's integrated WAN Optimization for my applications. The integrated WAN Optimization is effective because they hold the patent for the fingerprint IO, and they really accelerate every application you put on the WAN. What needs improvement? The room for improvement for the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform is pricing, as people are purchasing this product less and less because of pricing where I give connectivity. For how long have I used the solution? I have experience working with the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform since 2016. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform is a fully scalable solution. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Before choosing the Aruba solution, I used many other tools including D-Solutions, Riverbed, F5 solutions, FlexiWAN, and 128T. The main differences between these solutions are that the pros of Aruba EdgeConnect are that it is easy to use, easy to implement, and has full ZTP with full coverage, whether it's SaaS or on-prem; they integrate with the SSC solutions. They have occupied a few companies that were really strong in those markets, which is why I believe it puts them in the first position. The cons include pricing and license management. If you are a customer, it's easy, but if you are a partner wanting to manage the clients, Aruba wants the license always on the customer's name. They want to know who the customer is and how they used the product, managing the partner instead of the partner managing the customer, making it hard for partners to work with them. For customers, the only con is pricing since there are many cheaper products available that do not deliver the same results, but if a customer has a budget issue, Aruba EdgeConnect may not be in consideration. What was our ROI? When talking about pricing, I have seen an ROI from this solution, but it depends on the scenario—not on every scenario. I have seen benefits from using Aruba EdgeConnect, especially on the satellite connectivity, where there is a high impact on the ROI, which is good, but on the fibers, it's hard to bring the ROI. What other advice do I have? When deploying EdgeConnect, we usually deploy everything. If a customer only has one branch and no cloud, they will not be deployed with EdgeConnect. When a customer takes EdgeConnect, we know that they have multiple scenarios such as remote branches, cloud, and on-prem data centers, and this is where we use and put the EdgeConnect. My relationship with Aruba is that I am a partner of them. My advice for people considering to use this solution is that if price is no matter, they don't need to consider anything else. On a scale from one to ten, I rate this solution a six. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
