Surface Book transforms into three different configurations, adapting to the way that you work and the places where you create. Surface Book is a powerful laptop with a full sized, backlit keyboard for fast and natural typing.

The 13.5" PixelSense display detaches easily from the keyboard to become a thin, light tablet that works perfectly with OneNote and Surface Pen. Turn the screen around and reattach it to use Surface Book like a creative canvas. By reconnecting it to the keyboard, you unlock its full creative power in a pen first mode.

Use the multi-touch PixelSense screen and Surface Pen to create with all the desktop software you already use, like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Surface Book is the creative professional's laptop, designed to power through professional grade photo and video editing.

Product Reviews
Microsoft Surface Book - 13.5" - Core i7 6600U - 16 GB RAM - 1 TB SSD - Eng is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product - until the screen cracked I purchased the Surface Book last summer and as a teacher it was a huge investment. I loved quite a bit about it. Windows 10 is pretty much fantastic. The stylus input was great. Developing flipped classroom materials was easy. It made it really easy to produce content. Being able to carry the clipboard around the classroom for notes as I talked to students - awesome. I would be nice if there were some sort of Bluetooth connection so that the keyboard and clipboard could interact when detached and the battery life could be better, but all in all, I was very happy. Then it happened. I woke up on a Saturday morning to finish off a little work before starting the day. That crack was hardly noticeable. I didn't even see it at first glance, but it disabled the touch input and and the pen input was too inaccurate to be usable. I have no idea how it appeared in that it was working perfectly the night before and wasn't touched, except for when I closed the lid. The cost of replacing the screen is ridiculous. I finally am getting around to getting it fixed, but the salty price tag for the repair has completely killed my mojo on this thing. It's a great concept and I LOVED it when it worked, but to have the screen crack from very normal use is really unfortunate. Now I'm just meh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice computer. Will keep for a long time. This is one of the best laptops I've used. Hats off to Microsoft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile laptop with solid performance & quality I bought this laptop last year for work and despite some minor issues to start with, I took it to Microsoft, we reinstalled the operating system and haven't had any issues with it since, despite hundreds of hours of use.In fact, it's been a great performer at work and at home and on long coast-to-coast flights over a six-month period. It's useful as a laptop and a tablet; the tablet can't be underestimated for its utility. It weighs as much as typical 9 inch tablets, but is larger and has the base to use as a flexible mount as opposed to the limitations of the tablets. The keyboard is fantastic, that was the main reason for my purchase because I have difficulty using any other keyboards. This is my first, but definitely not my last Microsoft computer. A bit pricey, but hopefully that will change.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Business User Great for travel and in meetings. Fast boot up time and overall easy and convenient to use. I came from a macbook pro, and am happy to see some of the functionality (multi touch) and speed is replicated. The touch screen was the major difference that let em to the surfacebook. Two things I have noticed that could be improved - the battery life is good, and typically lasts most of the day, but doesn't last as long (in the real world) as my macbook. Also, the screen, when docked, does not push back far enough. It only goes a little past 90 degrees which can make it difficult to view and type if you are taller. It seems like an easy fix for them to design a hinge that allows a further rotation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Just took delivery of my Surface Book and so far, it looks good. I'm disappointed though that Microsoft didn't include cable ties in the packages. This is an expensive device and not including a cable tie seems cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the buy I originally purchased the Surface Book one year ago and was left slightly disappointed with its performance; I decided that it deserved another chance. When this product initially launched, Windows10 was fairly young and was full of bugs that did not fair well with this new hardware (2015). Since, Windows10 has received the proper attention, allowing this machine to shine. I am a college student and don't use this for gaming, other gaming laptops would serve better if you're looking for portable gaming. I opted for the i5 configuration without the GPU and find that it meets all my demands of running multiple tabs in Edge, Office, and media consumption. If your needs require video rendering or CADD programs, I would suggest the i7 with dedicated graphics. The screen resolution (3000x2000) and ratio (3:2) is what made me really appreciate this machine. Working in split screen on a 13.5'' display since the display is taller than most other laptops. The keyboard and trackpad are excellent, I would only suggest a better "click for future revisions. The machine is lightweight, portable, and has great battery life (i7 may be less). If you're questioning whether you want to opt for the Performance Base model, that's up tp you. For my portable needs, I didn't see the benefit for the jump in price. This machine has caused many users of fruit companies to take a second look, and has caused great interest, especially when I show-off the detachable screen and pen. Many online reviews of this machine are dated back to its launch, with many of the problems I first faced when buying. The "hinge gap" that caused controversy, was just people mocking something that was different. I have been using this machine for over a month and have yet to have any problems with debris getting "gunked" up or causing a problem. The Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge serves a vital purpose for this machine and offers a modern style. Microsoft closed the gap slightly on the Performance Base models so if it's going to cause you anxiety, buy that one. For as long as I have owned and used laptops, cleaning has always been routine care, and should be for any electronic hardware. I have heard rumors of Microsoft moving back(wards) to a more traditional laptop hinge, but hope that is not the case. If you're still reading this review, congratulations! If you're looking for a great laptop that offers something a little different, and can appreciate the enhancements of Windows10, this is the one for you. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packed with the Latest and Greatest of Technology This is a loaner that a friend of mine is letting me use until he replaces the Ipad Pro top of the line wifi plus cellular 13.9" 256 gb machine that he accidently broke when an accident occurred he immediately offered me the Microsoft Surface Pro to use in place of my long loved Ipad pro experience. I was not expecting this to be better than my ipad pro that is for sure but I must say in my opinion it is in a lot of ways. I can only hope that my friend doesn't fix mine anytime soon or replace the ipad if he does I'm going to get this Microsoft Surface pro instead.I like it that much..
