Product Reviews
Canon EOS 6D - digital camera is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 137.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera just lacking a few key features I've been shooting canon my whole life. Shot with a 1dsmkii for years. Bought the canon 6D after I had a Sony junk on me. In my opinion it's one of the best cameras money can buy. But it lacks a few key features. A more advanced AF system. I mean 9 points really? I feel like I'm shooting with a t5. Also continuous AF in video. I would've gladly paid 200-400 more to get at least 12-15 af points and continuous AF in video. Now for the good stuff. Low light; fantastic performance. Overall picture quality and color rendering, absolutely mind numbingly good. But be warned, this is not a fast camera. Do not buy with the intentions of shooting sports or fast paced objects. This is no speed demon. But if your subjects are mostly static or you are into doing portraits/weddings by all means it's fantastic. I also tend to lean more towards it because I shot film for years and even though it's very primitive in features, it really brings you back home if you are used to shooting film.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this on Canon Refurb to supplement 7DII I already owned a Canon 7D MarkII which I bought new and loved it but I really wanted to get into a FF also for a host of reasons (Better for landscapes, better background blur as given focal lengths, better dynamic range, etc). So I wanted a decent FF camera to supplement the 7DII which I use primary for wildlife, birds-in-flight, sports, etc. I thought about the 5DIII, but it was $1000 more and for what I was going to use it for, would not really offer much more. I could not justify another $1000 which could be better used for good glass :) I am really happy with the 6D for my purposes. For anything except subjects where lots of movement is involved, the 6D is perfect. Exceptional image quality and really good low light AF capability. On the down side, it does have a fairly basic AF system, which only really becomes an issue when you're shooting things with lots of motion. It's "ok" in these situations, but nowhere near as capable as my 7DII. One other minor complaint is that it only has a single SD slot. I personally prefer CF cards, which my 7DII allows. But that's a minor nit honestly. Hence, when I bought this camera, I went into it with the idea that this would be an every day camera for use shooting landscapes, street photography, portraits, etc and in that capacity I am extremely happy. The fact that it has built-in GPS and Wi-Fi is an added plus and I've found the ability to control the camera via my iPad to be a great feature in some situations.I am rating this 5 stars as a rating that considers this camera for what it offers for the money. Certainly it would not rate 5 stars if I was comparing it with a 5DIII, but that's comparing apples and oranges. For what it is and what it costs, I feel like it's excellent bang-for-the-buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever owned I wanted a full frame camera for a host of reasons. As a professional photographer I do beach photography of families, pets and children. BUT, my true love is wildlife and BIFs. Panning birds is hard work, but I find I get more usable shots then ever before with this lightweight camera (paired with Canon's 400mm Prime lens). Buy it. Save some money. Your shots will be of professional level.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Middle of the Road on everything I've been using it for Indoor Sports. The number of focus points is highly limited. I rely mostly on the center dot in low light and it performs well. However, it is a primitive focusing system when compared to the 5D. It is lighter than the 5D which I appreciate, but in hindsight - knowing what I know now after using it for several years - I regret not purchasing the 5D III. There is no way I would buy a 6D II when (if) it arrives in 2017. The 5D III (discounted) or the 5D IV is the way to go. If you buy middle of the road then you will be stuck in the middle of the road -- always lacking something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great event, portraiture and travel camera The 6D is Canon's cheapest full-frame DSLR, but even if price were no object it is also their best for travel photography and for most event and portrait work leaves little to be desired compared to its more expensive sisters. The sensor is probably my favorite thing about the 6D. At "only" 20 megapixels, the individual pixels are larger than they would be on a higher resolution camera, and the larger the pixel, the more light it can gather. ISO 1600 is close enough in performance to base ISO (100) to not matter, while even ISO 6400 can yield beautiful prints at larger sizes so long as you get the exposure just right. The autofocus system is really the only thing most reviewers complain about on the 6D, but here too in many ways less is more. While it only has 11 points and only the center point is a cross-type, that center point, even four years after the camera's release, remains among the best in the industry. Even in near darkness the 6D focuses quickly and accurately, especially with fast lenses. My only concern compared to higher-end models is that the weather sealing seems a bit lighter. I've used the 5D mk iii and that camera just feels a lot more robust, but given the price difference between them it should. I've used my 6D in the rain and had no issues, just make sure not to press any of the buttons or work any of the dials while wet. When I plan to use mine in the rain, I make sure to wipe off any water before changing settings and limit myself to just using the shutter release when wet (usually covered by my finger so not too soggy). With a water sealed L lens (don't forget a filter to complete the seal) I've had no issues even in some heavy rain, but heavier seals would make me more comfortable and are the only reason I am looking at adding a 5D mk iii to my outfit.Unless you are shooting fast-moving sports or birds in flight, the 6D is a fantastic camera at any price, and given what these cost now, its a real bargain. I still love mine.
