Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever owned I wanted a full frame camera for a host of reasons. As a professional photographer I do beach photography of families, pets and children. BUT, my true love is wildlife and BIFs. Panning birds is hard work, but I find I get more usable shots then ever before with this lightweight camera (paired with Canon's 400mm Prime lens). Buy it. Save some money. Your shots will be of professional level.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Middle of the Road on everything I've been using it for Indoor Sports. The number of focus points is highly limited. I rely mostly on the center dot in low light and it performs well. However, it is a primitive focusing system when compared to the 5D. It is lighter than the 5D which I appreciate, but in hindsight - knowing what I know now after using it for several years - I regret not purchasing the 5D III. There is no way I would buy a 6D II when (if) it arrives in 2017. The 5D III (discounted) or the 5D IV is the way to go. If you buy middle of the road then you will be stuck in the middle of the road -- always lacking something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great event, portraiture and travel camera The 6D is Canon's cheapest full-frame DSLR, but even if price were no object it is also their best for travel photography and for most event and portrait work leaves little to be desired compared to its more expensive sisters. The sensor is probably my favorite thing about the 6D. At "only" 20 megapixels, the individual pixels are larger than they would be on a higher resolution camera, and the larger the pixel, the more light it can gather. ISO 1600 is close enough in performance to base ISO (100) to not matter, while even ISO 6400 can yield beautiful prints at larger sizes so long as you get the exposure just right. The autofocus system is really the only thing most reviewers complain about on the 6D, but here too in many ways less is more. While it only has 11 points and only the center point is a cross-type, that center point, even four years after the camera's release, remains among the best in the industry. Even in near darkness the 6D focuses quickly and accurately, especially with fast lenses. My only concern compared to higher-end models is that the weather sealing seems a bit lighter. I've used the 5D mk iii and that camera just feels a lot more robust, but given the price difference between them it should. I've used my 6D in the rain and had no issues, just make sure not to press any of the buttons or work any of the dials while wet. When I plan to use mine in the rain, I make sure to wipe off any water before changing settings and limit myself to just using the shutter release when wet (usually covered by my finger so not too soggy). With a water sealed L lens (don't forget a filter to complete the seal) I've had no issues even in some heavy rain, but heavier seals would make me more comfortable and are the only reason I am looking at adding a 5D mk iii to my outfit.Unless you are shooting fast-moving sports or birds in flight, the 6D is a fantastic camera at any price, and given what these cost now, its a real bargain. I still love mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Capable Camera The 6D is now an aging camera that is bound to be replaced soon. That being said, the 6D represents an incredible value; it features a really high quality full-frame sensor with stellar low-light capabilities. The 6D is fantastic for landscapes and portraits but lacks the sophisticated AF system required for high-speed sports or wildlife photography. Look elsewhere for speedy action shooting (the 7D II is a great APS-C substitute).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera for the price. I had owned a couple canon DSLR cameras over the years. A 10D, and a 5D Mk II, and then after some troubling times I sold all my camera equipment. Another year later, things were looking up, and I was able to get the 6D with the Kit 24-105 f4 L Lens. The layout of the 6D controls I feel are much improved over the 5D mk II. Seems to be very smooth and natural, moving through the menus and functions. The WiFi is nice also, because you can use your smartphone as a shutter release, to help rid camera shake and/or for Bulb mode.Shutter speed. It only goes to 1/4000. It's ample for what I shoot, but depending on your needs, be aware there is no 1/8000 available.ISO performance. I actually seem to get very decent results up to 1600 on the focused subject, but 640+ does get some noise outside of the focused area and dark regions, while anything beyond 3200 is basically a matter of "do you absolutely need this shot with this shutter speed?".The Dynamic Range seems much better than my past cameras, as I don't deal with nearly as much Blowout/Black Crush as I used to on the 5D II. I can't speak for how it rates vs the 5D III, but it has a noticeably better range than the II.Video Mode. I have only toyed with this briefly, but if you wish to have decently usable sound, get an external mic, the built in one is pretty poor. The video itself was decent though, although I have read that this camera's video mode was more prone to artifacts than the 5D series. If you plan on using video a lot, that may be a deciding factor for you.The price of the camera makes it a good full-frame bargain, and if you are more interested in photo mode than video mode, I would say "go for it" with no fear of being disappointed. The kit lens is ok, but it wouldn't have been my choice if I went Body Only.
