Designed to deliver ultra-high quality images along with lightning fast operation, the Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM telephoto zoom lens brings a favorite zoom range to the celebrated Canon L-series of lenses. It features two Ultra Low Dispersion (UD) elements for improved image quality and reduced chromatic aberration, incorporates a floating focusing mechanism for sharpness from close up to infinity, plus an IS system that increases usability by approximately four stops. The EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM features a function that prevents erroneous operation when the lens is mounted on a tripod or monopod. Gleaming white, with a removable tripod collar, dust and water resistant construction, and a newly developed Fluorine coating that keeps soiling, smears and fingerprints to a minimum, its phenomenal performance and flexibility is assured. For portraiture or to bring what's far away up close, this addition to the L-series is guaranteed to perform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Lens I shoot this on a crop body (7D M2). It's sharp, fast, and a pound lighter than the 100-400 It's close focusing makes it great for flowers, put tubes on It and you have the ideal macro. A real winner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underrated hidden gem I bought this lens after doing a lot of research on telephoto zoom L series. Compared to the celebrated 70-200 f/4 L IS, or 70-200 f/2.8 L IS, this lens is not that popular. I wondered why! However, I got a good deal and bought it. I would never regret my decision. This is one of the sharpest lens that I have used. The zoom range is good for almost anything, wich makes it a perfect travel lens. Here are the Pros and Cons.Pros: 1. Perfect weight for handheld photography. No need for tripod. I use it for all day shooting on my 6d. The weight grows on you. 2. Excellent for portrait. The range between 100 - 150 is very sharp and you have the max f/4 limit, making creamy bokeh possible. 3. Sharpness at 300 mm. 100 crop at 300mm can beat other lenses (I compared with a 150-600mm from another maker). So if you are thinking of buying a longer lens but don't have all the cash, try this one!4. Versatile: Takes decent landscape, excellent portrait and above expectation wildlife and nature photographs. Can't et any better. Cons: 1. Tracking moving object: Little slow in AI Servo mode - tracking is decent though. Maybe I will buy a 400 f.5.6 for that. But remember this is not supposed to be for BIF but I could take some decent BIF pics with practice.2. Tripod Ring not included in price. See Pros. #1. I actually have it but never used it! Might be helpful if I decide to take the solar eclipse picture. Do you really need it?3. Focusing ring placement: Some people say it's an inconvenience. I am just writing it here to reiterate - it's no big deal! The pros outweighs te cons many times over!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tack Sharp on my EOS 80D This lens though for a full frame DSLR works great on an APSC sensor. It is Long when at full focal length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my go to lens for almost everything. I shoot portraits, body shots for press releases. I love this lens. I'm mainly outside on the beach so the 4-5.6 doesn't bother me. My favorite lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens... Optically, on my 7D, this lens produces stellar performance. The Colors are true, the images are sharp, and the zoom range is exactly where it needs to be bring objects from far enough away right there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I rented this lens for four days to test and compare versus the L and the new version of this when it comes out. I really wanted to like this lens - it's lightweight and relatively inexpensive. I found it difficult to get precise focus at moderate to long zoom lengths, the IS wasn't quite as supportive as I expected, corners remained too soft even at f16-22, and it was a little too slow to autofocus. Bottom line: I would try this lens first before buying as these may not be problems for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens and nice bargain I purchased this lens as a refurbished product. Pricewise it was a great bargain as Canon had further 10% off. It came with Lens, both Caps, Hood and Case. The box came with was not original lens box. Product had no scratches, marks or any visible sign showing that is used or so. It was looking like a new one. Lens build quality is a amazing, built like a tank. I have taken several shots so far and image quality is excellent as it should be in L lens. But I would say it is very little soft on wider side than telephoto. Image stabilization works awesome on this lens. Even at telephoto end it quickly stabilizes the image as soon I press AF or shutter button and I can click the shot. Lens is bit heavy at 1050 gms. I use Canon 80D which gives me focal range on this lens from 112-480mm.Earlier I had bought Canon 70-200mm f/4 L Lens non-IS, but image quality did not seem to be on par with the L tag even in bright light. I was surprised and returned it. In comparison, this lens is amazing. I plan to use it to shoot wild life, birds and maybe sports. Overall I am very with the product.
