Multifunctional and affordable OmniAccesss 200 series 802.11ac wireless access points (APs) maximize mobile device performance in medium-density enterprise Wi-Fi environments.

These compact and cost-effective dual-radio APs deliver wireless data rates of up to 867 Mb/s to 5 GHz devices with 802.11ac technology, leveraging two spatial multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) streams while simultaneously supporting 2.4 GHz 802.11n clients with data rates of up to 300 Mb/s.

The 200 series APs enhances unified access portfolio for the mobile enterprise that is able to deliver applications and services along with consistent, highquality user experience across wired and wireless environments.

The unified access network starts with a wire-rate 10GbE/40GbE network core. The core includes the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6900 Stackable LAN Switch, OmniSwitch 9000E Chassis LAN Switch, and the OmniSwitch 10K Modular LAN Chassis. The unified access network provides a common set of network services, policy framework, authentication scheme and a single authentication database that applies to users accessing the network with either wired or wireless devices. Wire line access is provided by stackable LAN switches like the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6855 Hardened LAN Switch, OmniSwitch 6850E and OmniSwitch 6450 Stackable LAN Switches and OmniSwitch 6250 Stackable Fast Ethernet Switch; wireless access is provided by comprehensive portfolio of 802.11ac, 802.11n OmniAccess Wi-Fi access points and Controllers; while BYOD, guest access, onboarding and policy management services are provided by ClearPass Policy Management System.

Product Reviews
Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess IAP205 - wireless access point is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like the voice-over WLAN QoS features but some features could be made for mobile WLAN corporate access Valuable Features:* AAA with Radius and digital certificates* Voice-over WLAN QoS Features* Built-in WLAN site-survey and planning tool* Built-in Guess Access featureImprovements to My Organization:We deployed them in two hospitals, they benefit from the access of users via Guest Portal and the use of VoWLAN Phones for mobile internal communication.Room for Improvement:Maybe some features could be made for mobile WLAN corporate access and Access Point survivability when issues with the WLAN Controller and/or communication link issues.Use of Solution:I used this solution for three years, I deployed it for several customers.Deployment Issues:Yes, some issues are related to firmware bugs or firmware instability.Stability Issues:Yes, some of them are related to VoWLAN QoS and voice stability.Scalability Issues:No, when we need to scale up, we follow the vendor instructions and directions for adding more devices of same type and some configurations in CLI.Customer Service:9/10 and we have a great relationship with Alcatel-Lucent,Technical Support:Great 10. They are very commited and helpful.Previous Solutions:No, we studied others solutions but none of them were deployed by us.Initial Setup:A little bit complex, because the devices have a big set of caveats that are mandatory to deploy.Other Solutions Considered:No other options evaluated.Other Advice:Because of the long list of technical caveats, I would strongly advise people to take the official OmmniAcces WLAN course before deployment.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some very difficult radio issues can be solved with very little effort but the GUI is a little bit slow. Valuable Features:I like the CaptivePortal and the Spectrum Monitor features. The CLI is also very good.Improvements to My Organization:With the Captive portal to manage the Guest access is very easy, and with the Spectrum Analysis some very difficult radio issues can be solved with very little effort from my side. The CLI is good, it is similar to other vendor's CLI but with enhanced features.Room for Improvement:The GUI is a little bit slow.Use of Solution:Two yearsDeployment Issues:No issues encountered.Stability Issues:No issues encountered.Scalability Issues:No issues encountered.Initial Setup:Straightforward but very simple possibilities.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

OmniAccess has enabled us to do so.Room for Improvement:Simplification of the configuration processes and improvement of the maintenance software OmniVista 3600.Use of Solution:4 years.Deployment Issues:Yes, I had bugs when deploying with different Internet Browsers.Stability Issues:No issues encountered.Scalability Issues:No. We currently have >100 users and increasing.Customer Service:5/10Technical Support:7/10Previous Solutions:Yes, I used solutions based on different Access Points, with independent management. I switched to OmniAccess because it is centralized, and has great scalability.Initial Setup:We used the wizard for initial configuration and it was straightforward.Implementation Team:I implemented it myself after doing training with Alcatel.ROI:Our RO`i isn't money related, since it is used to a community service.Cost and Licensing Advice:We don't have any costs related to this product.Other Solutions Considered:Yes, one solution based on Cisco.Other Advice:Good planning, before implementing this solution.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
