Not a delicate person? Me either! This is the case for you. Sturdy. I like the touch of the keys on the keyboard. Storage place for your ipencil. If you don’t need fancy and cute but you do want good protection, this is your case.

The case is kind of hard to open even with the iPad in it. Sometimes the iPad breaks free from the magnetic slot when opening and it feels like the plastic holder is going to break. If the hinges were looser and opened easier it would be a 10 star rating.

Excellent Keyboard & Secure Case
This Bluetooth connected keyboard is totally reliable, offers key spacing suitable for large hands and a positive key depression click for a tactile feedback. My only request is a listing of outputs from the alt, opt, cod and ctrl keys.
Finally, the rugged case is just that, i.e., tough and protected. However, I just wish that the hinge spring held the screen tightly in all angles.

I made an excellent choice in purchasing this product. One drawback is that every time I open it, my iPad separated from the key pad. It is very stiff to open. But I am still happy with it. Will see what happens later on.

If you work in construction or industry and use an iPad, this case and keyboard are the best combo to protect your device. Love that the case does not slid around on smooth surfaces. The black case hides the fact you have place the iPad on all sorts of dirty surfaces.

only criticism is that the rubber covering the port for the charging cord is too stiff. Left as is, it will eventually damage the cord, port or both. I cut it out to avoid damage. Other than that i couldnt be happier with it. I would also love to see this product include a touch pad on the keyboard, THEN it would be perfect!

I qm sorry to say that I had to send this item back because some of the keys did not work. I have also not gotten a refund yet. I will order a replacement as soon as my refund comes through. Unfortunately this is the second one I have purchased and had to return. I am hope full that the third time will be the charm.

Disappointed that this is my 3rd in just a few years. One I purchased, one was replaced under the 1 year warranty. The next was needed 10 months later. We had to purchase that one. Hopefully it will last long. I do not take it out of the house or treat it carelessly drop it or get it wet.

My first shipped product had a broken keyboard, arriving with multiple defective keys, and this second keyboard’s backlight is out. I will once again have to return my product...the question is, do I purchase a third replacement or move on?!

First Rugged Book would pair but half the keys did not work. Under Warranty the second Rugged Book would not pair. The people at The Support group were very good they suggested a Rugged Messenger. I received that unit and it work Great !

case is strong, but to a fault. Most users don't need this level of protection and it ends up being more annoying than helpful. Access points like charger flap and headphones port are inhibiting to use the ports. I'm more annoyed with the case than I should be.

This is the second Rugged Book I've purchased to fit a different sized iPad. It is working well, like the touch of the keyboard, and ease of getting it aligned with the new iPad. Also like the container for a stylus which my older Rugged Book does not have. Bought the Zagg Pro Stylus to go there. The only questionable item is that there is a cover over the recharge slot which is pretty stiff and a bit difficult to open (and keep open) to fit in the charging plug -- seems to push on the charging plug a bit. Hoping it loosens up a bit over time.

This is my 3rd Rugged Book from Zagg. I had 2 from my previous iPad because the hinge bracket failed after 3 years. Sadly no help from Zagg for a free replacement so I bought a new one. Same hinge failure 2 or 3 years later. Maybe 3 years is the life expectancy?? I use my device multiple times per day and I am not rough with it. Noe I have a new iPad. I love this case—hope it lasts 5 years! We shall see,

Problems
My keyboard failed. The center row of keys failed on all but three keys. They will not accept any key stroke. there are others scattered around the keyboard as well. I had it for three weeks. We will see if they stand behind it.

This iPad cover is way too bulky for a woman. I guess they only had a man in mind. They used to have a thin white iPad cover with keyboard, which I’m told they no longer have. That one I’ve had for five years. And it finally started cracking. And I went looking for a new one but they didn’t have it. I do not like this cover.

I bought the rugged book messenger case for my 14 year old daughter for school, to protect her school issued ipad. In order to open the case, you have to remove the side containing the ipad, and manually force the hinge system open with your hands. If you try to open it like a laptop, the ipad side of the case pops out. I am afraid it is going to break. This case was the only case allowed by the school, so paying $130 for a case that does not work is frustrating to say the least.

I got a new rugged book for my iPad, and unlike my previous rugged book, there is a lag between when I begin typing and when it is finally ready to type. My previous rugged book was ready to type as soon as I opened it up. And the top part (with the iPad) detaches much more easily than my old one, causing me to drop the top part several times already. Still a solid product, but it’s hard to understand why a newer version is not as good as the first one I got.

I measure homes and write flooring quotes from my iPad and have recently switched to the Rugged Book from another brand’s Messenger style. I like that this doesn’t need anything flat to sit on in order to stand up and that I can disconnect the iPad so easily. Nice for working in the driver’s seat with constricted space due to the steering wheel. The keyboard is very responsive.

I especxially like the secure hinged fastening of the ipad containing frame to the keyboard component so that when combined, the two separate components function like a bound book or binder and that the stylus pencil has a storage pocket, that can prevent the pencil from being damaged, which can happen with other design configurations. Also the hinge design is stout enough to support the Ipad in a true laptop configuartion, when open.

I bought a rugged book for my iPad several months ago. I love it so much, that I got another for my husbands iPad. It’s sturdy and has a great responsive keyboard. Really Like These Cases
This is my 2nd Rugged case. It is heavier than most cases but I like that it is sturdy and versatile. Because the keyboard is detachable it allows you to change iPad positioning easily. The keyboard is very responsive. The only downside is that it doesn’t accommodate a Logitech Crayon pen because it has a flatter shape than the iPad pen.

No sleek option
I wanted a hard shell, good stand, to replace my old zagg (no longer in production). This is much more robust (as advertised) it does not slide between folders like old one, but the stand will fold in any and all directions. You can easily pull the Pad away from the keyboard. All in all very happy!

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because this is my second one. They have a tendency to get sloppy over time. The plastic “cradle†that holds the ipad gets stretched and no longer holds the ipad tight.

As rugged as it gets
I've used the Rugged Book at work for years on a helicopter fire crew and it's absolutely great. Eventually, I purchased one for personal use and it was complete garbage. The folding mech didn't work right, battery life was terrible and just after a year the bluetooth started acting up and many of the keys quit working. I reluctantly purchased another (after being told it was out of warranty) and I'm happy to report, it seems much better quality and is working perfectly... there really is nothing else like it; it's as rugged as it gets.

Heavy Duty iPad Cover
I bought the Rugged Book cover for my iPad mainly because Zagg was out of the Rugged Messenger cover that I wanted to get, mainly because the RM was less money to buy. But, now that I have the RB, it is a significant upgrade from the RM which will provide better protection for my iPad. The keyboard works great. Although the RB is heavier than the RM, its only a few ounces more, but it will provide much greater protection if I drop the unit. I would buy RB again.

Shoulder strap for first responders.
So far the case has worked well for us. The only part I would like to see is a strap so it could be put over a shoulder to carry.

The best gets better
I’ve been using a zagg keyboard for many years and recently purchased a new one to fit my new iPad. All the features I love are still there: familiar mac keyboard shortcuts, automatic wake up, detachable keyboard. I especially like being able to open the ipad and immediately begin typing. My old Zagg keyboard’s battery lasted for six months (or more) between charges, and I fully expect my new keyboard to follow suit. Love the illuminated keys (new to me).

Problems
My keyboard failed. The center row of keys failed on all but three keys. They will not accept any key stroke. there are others scattered around the keyboard as well. I had it for three weeks. We will see if they stand behind it.

I been buying Zagg keyboards
I been buying Zagg keyboards for years. About every year the hinge part goes bad and the I Pad snaps away from the keyboard. Yes u have given me a couple under warranty but the last time I upgraded to the Rugged one and it still broke the same way. Can’t find any others I like so I guess I just gonna have to buy every year

Be sure your iPad is in the slot before trying to open and close
When the case came, I tried to open it and the hinge didn't budge and then it did. I thought it was going to be a huge problem as the case seemed broken. Once I put the iPad in and attached it to the keyboard, it worked fine. They should let you know to install the iPad immediately before trying to open, close and open again.

I have used Rugged Books for years.. However, recently I received a new one that had a difficult keyboard. Eventually Nikki helped me get the help I needed. Too long a story, but Renato was very difficult and sounded like a computer voce? He was SO unhelpful.

Great keyboard and case.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because this is my second one. They have a tendency to get sloppy over time. The plastic “cradle” that holds the ipad gets stretched and no longer holds the ipad tight.

Not a delicate person? Me either! This is the case for you. Sturdy. I like the touch of the keys on the keyboard. Storage place for your ipencil. If you don’t need fancy and cute but you do want good protection, this is your case.

Zagg Rugged Book for iPad Air
Meh. It’s fine, but not amazing. The keys are loud and take an especially hard tap to connect them. Sometimes a normal strike on the space bar results in a double space- which means I get a period on my Apple devices, that I then have to delete and go again. So, fine. But not amazing.

Great protection, useful and sturdy
This is the 2nd rugged protector I have bought from Zagg, and I love it. They added a flexible cover over the power port to keep moisture out, and one over the earphone cord port too. I am a teacher and my iPad goes to an elementary classroom each day, and it is always protected. Love having a keyboard that I can flip open quickly, and so glad to have a slot for my Apple Pencil, too. Really ideal for what I need and to maintain my investment.

This is my 3-4 similar product from ZAGG. This one seems and feels much better that the previous which I had to changed due to been fragile. I really like the design and that is the reason I keep buying it, but this one seems to last much longer, if it does I will change the review to 5 stars. ZAGG great improvement

Really Like These Cases
This is my 2nd Rugged case. It is heavier than most cases but I like that it is sturdy and versatile. Because the keyboard is detachable it allows you to change iPad positioning easily. The keyboard is very responsive. The only downside is that it doesn’t accommodate a Logitech Crayon pen because it has a flatter shape than the iPad pen.
