Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good for the money This is an amazing product for the price. I bought a Sony center speaker for quality sound. No subwoofer. Using existing ceiling speakers for surround sound. One complaint: when a very loud sound hits, like a gunshot, the receiver cuts off. One minor request to the firmware development team: display more info on the TV when using the radio, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality has gone down Replaced this unit from my old RX V371 jn which I had for over 10 years but died. Purchased RX V385 and after major troubleshooting the ARC port was faulty and had to return it for a replacement. The replacement works but I'm not impressed with how the ARC port identifies other HDMI inputs. In my case my projector is connected to the ARC Port fir video display and I have Cable Box ( HDMI 1) Fire Cube (HDMI 2). It struggles MIGHTILY each time I toggle to different HDMI selections. It can take 30 to 60 seconds before recognizing it. This happens on my Optoma and Epson projectors. I have one that works fluent on my TV though. I DEFINITELY do NOT recommend this reciever when hooking up to a projector. ALSO this unit clicks very hard and loud when switching HDMI Ports. I'm concerned with the longevity of this unit. ESPECIALLY since I've had to return one already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Receiver Great sound for my TV, and DVDs. The FM stereo receiver is so much better than my sony receiver in reception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Performance and Quality Still working on the final product but it is progressing very well. The home theater experience has improved our overall viewing experience. Sound quality is very impressive. I can easily give this a five star review. Highly recommended to all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent AV Receiver I replaced my 17 year old Sony surround sound system with this. I was most impressed with the video improvement. My TV already accepts a 4K signal so the improvement was dramatic. The audio benefits from improved, more efficient speakers. An excellent unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, just what I needed I purchased this unit about 3 months ago. My hearing has diminished from my working days, so I needed something to place speakers closer to me. I really like the option to play MP3 music via a USB flash stick. The price was very reasonable, for my budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm...and sounds great too! After going through an Onkyo and a Sony AV receiver, I wanted to get something that not only sounded good, but had a reputation for being durable. I stepped up to the Yamaha and have been very pleased. The set-up was easy and it sounds great. Not as loud as the previous two boxes but pristine sound coming out of my Paradigm speakers. I like all the options for various sound treatments that can be used on any input. While I don't expect to ever use the "cavern" for serious listening, a lot of the other modes are helpful in getting the best sound from various sources. Nice feature to offer (and it can be ignored if you don't want any coloration). I used the "auto calibration" to set up the system then had fun "tweaking" everything to get it the way I wanted it to sound. Using the EARC simplifies everything and reduces the number of cables. Can't think of anything that could be added to improve this great receiver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awasome Dude. I like the easy setup and the preformance of the reciever. I even get AM radio now. Love the remote because I can switch from TV to stereo FM without getting up and adjust the sound level. It's like I won a "sweepstakes".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice receiver/amp This is part of our home entertainment system. Until we got used to it, controls were cumbersome at best. But using it is much better now, and the sound is great. Subwoofer is weak, even with all bass settings set to max, at low volumes. Increasing volume past 50% helps with amplified bass output, but can sometimes be too loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good value solid reciver the receiver has a few flaws. i would have liked an additional optical port. another channel or a second set of outs for audio only would have been primo. the bluetooth is too friendly. any device that had been paired will turn the receiver on and then not let another link up. but very minor flaws. overall a very good value. the only reason i would not recommend to a friend is the need to do there own reaserch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best AVR for the money Amazing wattage per channel, plenty of features to tailor your audio experience, and a very beautiful addition to our audio rack. We use ours as an amplifier for a turntable (external preamp required), as well as occasional movie experience. This machine beautifully amplifies sound to our speakers in ways that make even budget speakers punch well up into the ranges of top competitors. Easy to use, takes a little time to perfectly tune to your liking, but the automatic tuning program gets you as close to perfect as possible. 5.1 AVRs of any other brand should beware of the awesome power of this amplifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this. I really like this receiver. My only issue is that I have to change over the HDMI input before I change the input to the next attached device. I wish it would allow pass through for all attached devices while it in standbye mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around unit Extremely versatile, when it comes to managing inputs. Each input having its own gain and tone control, makes it even better. I am definitely not disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, very versatile features Great clean sound! The on screen setup and controls are very intuitive. I love the fact that each channel can be EQ'd individually. The setup mic makes balancing the room acoustics simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product for the Price If you can get through the set up, the unit works nicely. I know what you're thinking, "the set up, how hard can it be to set up a receiver". I struggled deeply with the HDCP settings on this. Basically, this is a new anti-piracy software/setting/IDK for HDMI cables. There isn't clear instructions on the manual but it is defiantly not plug and play. After hours of internet research, I found out that you can change these settings manually in the receiver it's self. If you do not put it on the right frequency, you will get no video. Very frustrating. After two weekends of set up, everything works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from volume is digital, not a pot. note inputs must be adjusted volume is digital not a pot. radio worked ok on initial turn on. all other inputs were dead, no volume at all. spent an entire day troubleshooting until i discovered you have to increase volume on each input from zero. radio worked fine, that's what threw me for a loop! all other inputs, no volume. please note this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Budget Matching AVR Replacement for HK 1700! This was the perfect replacement AVR for my 10 year old budget HK 1700 AVR that recently went out on me, with 100% matching connections but is actually more compact, with updated technology & jam packed with even more features, with a Speaker setup system (YPAO) that finally works! Set-up was a snap, with all of my old HK's connections & mounted speakers ready to go, & the 5:1 sound is just right for my one bedroom apartment's living room corner pro music studio production & entertainment needs, just enough to not blow myself away in such a tight space, or disturb my neighbors. Change can happen when you least expect it, but I'm happy that the RX-V2385 AVR made the upgrade a smooth one for me, with additional bang for the buck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strange Streaming Activity The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that I've noticed something strange when I'm streaming to it through a Google Chromecast device. And, really, I've only noticed it with Disney+. What happens is that it seems to switch between stereo and 5-channel on its own, which means the sound cuts out for about a second every 5-to-30 seconds. It's annoying but it only seems to happen with Disney. Overall, I'm pleased with the sound quality and features.
