The VisionTek mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter features a mini DP male connector on one end and an HDMI female connector on the other. An HDMI cable (sold separately) is required for this mDP to HDMI adapter. The adapter allows you to connect any mini DisplayPort-equipped laptop, including the Mac® family of products, to a standard HDMI connection such as an HDTV, monitor, or projector.
Unlike passive adapters, this mDP to HDMI converter offers an active chipset for compatibility with any Mini DisplayPort output - ideal for graphics cards and devices that do not support outputting multi-mode DP++ signals (e.g. AMD Eyefinity).

Great Choice for a compact and flexible cable.
This adaptor works great connecting my 3rd Monitor to my z book workstation. The short but flexible cable allows for a very tight install to route the cable behind my laptop and is not stiff like most adaptors I've used.

Mini Port Adapter
The mini port adapters works perfect 90% of the time. At various times the monitor connected to it starts to flicker and fade. You just have to go back to the computer and wiggle the connection and it clears up. I would still recommend one to anyone desiring to run two monitors and lacking a second HDMI port.
