The Professional Service for Backup Exec - the Backup Exec Installation, Migration and Upgrade Service - will help implement the latest version of Backup Exec.
During installation, for Backup Exec customers, a remote technician will perform various pre-installation checks to ensure the environment is ready for installation. Then the technician will install the latest version of Backup Exec and follow best practices to conduct basic setup tasks such as creating storage and backup definitions.
During upgrade, for existing customers with a supported Backup Exec version, a remote technician will follow best practices to upgrade their current Backup Exec server to the latest version. As with the installation service, the technician will also verify that core functions of the environment are still working, such as storage devices and backup definitions.
During migration, for customers that wish to provision a Backup Exec server while maintaining historical backup data, a remote technician will perform a data migration from one Backup Exec server to another via the Backup Exec Migration Assistant (BEMA). The target server will be the latest version of Backup Exec with the jobs, storage and settings from the old server. The old server will remain unchanged. As with the other services, the technician will verify that core functions of the environment are still working.
Through this Professional Services offering, the goal is to provide customers with a clean-slate implementation to streamline their experience with Backup Exec.
