I just recently bought a second one since I appreciate the quality of the product and trust this brand. I really like the port covers since I don't use every port. It can also be difficult to plug things at first, but it definitely gets better over time.

The big complaint however, is that it makes a horrible high pitched squeal at all times. Almost unbearable. Only recommend if you have some sort of white noise covering it up all day.

I use it to protect my PC and related equipment: monitor, external hard drives, printer, speaker, etc. It took the place of a Tripp Lite 6 plug wall outlet expansion unit and a separate power strip. This is more convenient and works great for my power adaptors.

I bought 2 surge protectors after reading an article about damage caused by surges to computers and other high priced equipment. This article also pointed out that people mistake multi-outlet cords for surge protectors'[ it also pointed out that actual surge protectors are rated for different levels. The NY Times evaluated various protectors and rated this one for the highest for levels of protection. Although the price was high, it would not be as high if I had to replace my equipment. I use one protector for my computer and the other for my new treadmill. I live in a building with varying levels of surges so I am glad the article and the NY Times rating all came together at an opportune time. These protectors came with so many features that I have yet to use and warranties - well worth the investment because investment is how I view my purchase.

Unlike some chargers, it's easy to plug things into the outlets, and I appreciate the slide-covers that keep dust from getting inside the outlets. The warranty is also a big plus. I have had electronics fried twice in the past year and do not want to go through that again. Based on great reviews I purchased a Tripp-Lite surge protector power strip and have my electronics, phone and coaxial plugged in to it and so far everything has been protected with no problems.

I've purchased 3 of these to protect my sensitive equipment (TVs, desktop computers, and networking equipment) and I've had no problems! Clean power and zero problems for 3+ years. In particular, I love the coax protection that this model offers: if you have relatively fast cable internet (anything from >100Mbps to over gigabit speeds) and want to protect the data line, using the coax connector is superior to using other models' Ethernet port protection. The Ethernet interface on those other surge protectors only supports 100Mbps speed (at least as of when I'm writing this review), which is much lower than the 1000Mbps speeds supported by most consumer Ethernet interfaces nowadays, so you could unintentionally limit your local network's speed. However, if you use *this* model, you can plug the coax cables from the wall and your modem into this device, and there are no such speed limitations!

I like that some of the outlets are space more widely apart for those devices with fat plugs. With the switch, I can power everything off at once. I use the co-axial with my X-finity cable. And I like that it will tell me when it needs to be replaced.

I had a surge protector from TrippLite that recently blew out from a power surge. This one was about 40 years old so I opened up the case to examine it before installing it. After all that time it was in pristine condition. The power surge completely blew it out - it looked like a bomb had gone off inside. But all equipment attached was protected. Hopefully TrippLite still makes them the way they used to.

The plugs come very tight and using the attached plug to loosen each socket before attaching your devices helped a lot.

Modem jack did not work with provided cable, I did not try anything else to get that part to work. Everything else works good. I get a lot of power outages/surges due to storms and power company. Will update review if there is any negatives in the future but j doubt there will be.

I had another model made by another company before, which seems to be doing great until it's on and off button switch began malfunctioning. Upon googling which surge protector to buy next to replace my old one, I stumbled upon this product Tripp lite, which to me at the time was something I wasn't familiar with at all, having used competing more well-known models for the most part. I have a lot of electronic gadgets around my Computer, like speakers, printer and of course my PC. Since I first used it, I have had no problem at all with any of those things. The on/off switch was also a lot better than my old surge protector which can't be turned-off anymore, no matter how many times I tried. So yep this is definitely a step up from my previous surge protector. Very happy with this purchase

My last laptop completely died on me after 3 years and i don't know if it's because of the wall outlet sources or the constant use of it every day, but I'm at least protecting it from one of those two aspects! All electrical and cable plugs appear to be working ok after insertion. What else can I write about it until we have an electrical surge that I am aware of. There is nothing that will indicate a surge that was protected by this device, so I have to use "faith" to believe it will work. Will update if I ever have a clue if it worked or not. Outlets are well spaced, even on the side with more outlets. I have no use for the coaxial protection, and really don't know anyone who does - if you run a coaxial cable used for data through the surge protector it messes with the connection, and i don't know anyone personally that still has cable television, but I guess it could protect the equipment used for cable TV.

This suppressor has more receptacles than I can use (for the time being) and the spacing is great for those dumb sized transformers/wall worts. The cord is a touch long for my purposes, but better too long than stuck with a little baby two foot lead. I took off a star for the lack of RJ-45 protection. We have no phone or coax lines in our home (because what year is it?) And having some Lan security would be nice. The chassis is also a biiiit more flimsy than I'd like but it lives in a media enclosure, not a foundry floor, so it's not a deal breaker. Overall a great surge suppressor.

I have not had equipment destroyed or data lost during thunderstorms or from surges after power outages. This version is an upgrade with telephone/modem/coaxial protection. I like the insurance feature but have not needed to use it.

I did a lot of research before I made the purchase, and this seemed to be a good value. There are cheaper surge protectors and outlet strips, but I thought it was worth it to spend a little more to get better protection for my computer, especially because our electric company is notoriously unreliable. From what I could see, this surge protector was carefully designed and solidly built. There are built-in covers for the unused outlets, so no worries about kiddies or dust causing problems. If you're looking for gifts for an older person who already has everything they need, and they already have a carbon monoxide detector, this would be a good choice!

I only wish the unit could save the Channels recorded on the TV from the outside Antennae on the menu , they are wiped out with a power surge and have to be re-programed back in. So far I have done this 3 times this year. We live out in the country in Northern Minnesota. {Out in the Boondocks as they say}

They had actually be on the major competitors less robust surge protector. This item has a long, thick power cord (you should not use extension cords to power a surge protector anyways). The othlets are tight and firm and the bank of widely spaced outlets on one side is the perfect answer to multiple bulky transformer plugs. The life warranty against damage because the Tripp failed to protect is a great extra feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid surge protector with good clamping voltage and joules Using this surge protector for my main computer, monitors (27" 1440p & 24" 1080p), connected 4k television, and coffee heater (with many ports to spare). I was concerned about clamping voltage and wanted a solid, no frills, powerful surge protector for my core devices. This fit my needs perfectly, though I cannot comment about its long-term effectiveness (more info on the clamping voltage provided by "The Best Surge Protector" [NYTimes, The Wirecutter] article written by Sarah Whitman and updated 6/29/21). I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on the subject, but I was satisfied with the explanations provided by Whitman and crew. The length of the cord was a factor as well, since I needed something around 6 feet for my current set-up. I am pleased with the durability of the cord and the angled style of the plug. The distribution of wider sockets on one side and smaller sockets on the other is simple and effective, and I appreciate the ability to utilize the socket covers when not in use. This product seems great for the price point, and I would only consider a different one for aesthetics. As this drives my main devices, and I do not care how the surge protector looks, efficiency is my only concern and I'm satisfied. It is solid. 5 stars.

When I contacted the company for repair/replacement, I was told that the unit only had a 5-year warranty and since I had the unit over 5 years, I would have to purchase a new unit. So I purchased a new unit, and it definitely wasn't from that company! (Sorry, Tripp-Lite's review filter won't allow me to name the company.) After much research, I decided to purchase the Tripp-Lite 12-Outlet Surge Protector. Great specifications, and it comes with a lifetime product warranty which also covers any equipment that is plugged into it. And it doesn't cost $150.00 either!

In researching for a new surge protector, many reviews led directly to the TrippLite TLP1208TELTV12. I have been very impressed with the excellent quality of manufacture, the attention to detail (like the sliding plug covers), and the $150K insurance. Not a single individual reviewer that I read found any fault with this product. Several wrote of TrippLite's rapid and professional response when replacement was necessary. One is used to protect an audio/visual room (stereo, amplifier, Blu-Ray, cable box, 75" UHD TV, etc.), the second is used to protect our computers and associated equipment (PC, Mac, two printers, shredder, phone lines etc.) both work perfectly and provide a very high degree of protection for our very sensitive electronic equipment. We like the long 8 ft. cord, so many surge protectors have short cords. We picked this particular protector because of the high protection (2880 Joules) it offered, more then double the protection of many others. And the outlets that allow for block plugs are very useful (a problem on other protectors).

My TV died after 2 years, probably from a surge, and cost $600 to repair. Wish I had this sooner. It has plenty of outlets and is a compact size. Very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8 great outlets and 4 not-so-great ones I mainly use this product to protect and pass-through power to a video game console and a TV. It works great for that. However, I did notice that the four separate outlets with the covers on them were particularly difficult to plug things into, and I haven't been able to successfully plug something into those. It seems that the cover is too thick for the prongs to be able to fully plug into them. But I don't need the extra outlets at the moment, so this works fine for me. I also haven't experienced any major power surges that could have fried the surge protector yet, but I trust that it should do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less than 12 usable outlets The 8 receptacles on one side are crowded so close together that half are unusable due to plug width overlapping. Skinny width plugs should be fine but a standard PC cord is fat enough to block its neighbors.

It is really quite nice that the device has lights that show it is protecting and that it is properly grounded. Unfortunately instead of the universal green means good, the led for the ground is "good" is red as though it is a warning that it isn't working. Keeping the instructions around for the forever warranty is not likely, and there is nothing printed on the device to remind the user of the meaning of the lights.

I honestly want to know why I should take the time to write a review when your "Fine Print" states that you have the right to remove anything I write without any explanation whatsoever? And I am quite certain that your company does not have the backbone to take some honest criticism from an unhappy customer, which I definitly am. I called your company to report that none of the four, count them four, surge protector power strip I purchansed through Amazon worked from the moment they came out of the box. I am out opver 200.00 and had to go out and purchase another brand to finish my project. And I have heard nothing from you guys about my call and how you are going to deal with it. So don't send me any more emails about "Write a review and win something." No wonder your reviews all look so glowing and spectacular. Just delete all the reviews that are not positive and you look like your the bomb. Yeah, delete it like you will do this one.

The great thing about this particular surge protector is that if it gets zapped and is no longer able to protect what you have plugged into it, it will stop working. I liked the fact that it had screw keyholes on the back so that I could attached it to the underside of my desk to keep everything off of the floor. The free $250.000.00 device damage insurance was a great additional feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would Buy Again and Recommend to Others Recently purchased model TLP1208TELTV to replace an outdated surge protector; so far very pleased with the performance. I would say that, to date, the construction of the surge protector is better than what one might assume by initially feeling what seems to be cheap(er) plastic (vis-a-vis the Pivot Plug Surge protector from a competitor). The latter is a much heavier construction and feels like stronger quality -- but "feels like" and "how it actually operates" are two different matters. Would recommend to others.

Not only is there the expected protection provided by what's inside a Tripp-Lite casing, but the flat surface of the surge protector and spacing between outlets also allows me to plug in several oversize and oddly shaped plugs without concern that one might be tipped out of the outlet. I highly recommend this surge protector if your devices present you with several oversized plugs.

Easy installation with it's slim profile it fit into the cabinet with no problem. I use Tipp-Lite surge protectors at work so it was a no-brainer for home use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely a recommended surge suppressor! I've been using it for a couple weeks now. It's running great so far! Doesn't produce any audible noise, but I haven't been looking for that so I don't know if it does and I just can't hear it. The cord length is very good for reachability. All of my desktop computer electronics are hooked up, and I still have about 5 outlets to spare! I'm not sure how it happened but I had a small fraction of a second power outage, and my electronics had turned off (including ones not connected to the surge suppressor), and restarted but my computer stayed on. I'm not sure if it was the SS or my power supplies capacitors, but I still felt secured with this product. I also like having the power outlets being able to be closed off. It adds additional feeling of security. The only minor thing I don't like is the packaging, the paper pamphlets were annoying to get out. Other than that, this is a great product and will be purchasing more to install around.

Easy to replace the old unit and the new unit had plenty of options for use. No issues with space and so far, so good. This is something you hope you never need to worry about.

Hooked my Game consoles (PS5 + Switch), Sound bar, and LG C9 to the Tripp Lite power strip and have a sense of relief now that I don't have to worry about a power surge or electrical outage during a storm or when I'm not home. Glad I purchased. A great warranty and all the plugs are spaced out enough so I can hook up everything in my system with ease.

I was disappointed to find that a surge can also come from my cable provider equipment. I lost my cable box, Apple TV box and my television. After this purchase, I now have coaxial protection.

I use it to connect the multiple types of equipment I need for my home office. I wanted to be absolutely certain that this expensive equipment would be protected if a power surge occurred. It is solidly built and versatile, with 12-power outlets, two cable outlets, as well as phone jack outlets. For business purposes, it is well worth the price.

I do like the widely spaced outlets for power bricks. Also like the illuminated power switch. My only wish would be a more durable shell instead of plastic construction. I hope it lasts and proves to be reliable as it is a really nice product so far.

I use the surge protector to protect my LG OLED TV, Roku, ZVOX AV 203 speaker, Spectrum cable box, Sony4K Blu-ray player and a Logitech Harmony Companion remote. I love the surge protector, great price, solid build quality and high joule level of protection. I also like the auto shut down feature. My only complaint is the close proximity of the eight conventional outlets which can prevent some large plugs to be placed adjacent to each other.

I hope I never have to test it, but the plug spacing to accommodate wall warts and the light that lets you know that the surge protection is still working are both great. I liked it so much I bought another for my mother.

I found a string need for a quality surfer protector and really dug in to what is good on the market. After reading lots of reviews I ordered my Tripplite 12 outlet, 2880 joule protector. This is quality, wow. Everything necessary for my power, Internet, and phone all laid out properly and so easy to use. I am extremely happy with the protection I am now receiving. One added plus is the 8' cord which really helped out. So many others leave you short and feel like an empty plastic receptacle. Not this brick. It's solid and beautifully made. You can't go wrong and for the pricing, why risk some off brand unit that your unsure of. Go for their excellent t track record and incredible values.

This particular product, the Protect It! 12 Outlet Surge Protector has many features that I like: (a) looks better than the old, blocky ones with metal casing, (b) has plenty of outlets that are well spaced, (c) has excellent surge protection, (d) shuts down if there's a problem, (e) has a long cord, (f) has LEDs to allow me to see the status, (g) has a lifetime warranty and (h) has built-in sliding covers that allow me to protect unused outlets from dust and dirt. I use these for all of my electronics and some other devices like fans and lamps.

The surge protector was shipped in a plastic Amazon bag with no protection whatsoever. Funnily enough it may be a testament to how durable it is since it still works perfectly despite going through the physical trauma of package delivery.

The mounting holes on the back worked well for hanging the protector on the back of the cabinet all this stuff fits on. The plugs fit just right, not loose where they would fall out or too tight which would make it hard to plug things in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for protecting your electronics with one small issue A great surge protector with one caveat. First things first it's a stellar product and the outlets are exactly what people who want their electronics truly protected should get hands down. That said my only issue is the actual plug in cord , I needed something slimline and the majority of the other products/competitors have the same but flipped or a straight down plug in for the wall. For example the competitors products when plugged into a wall socket either curve to the left or flat in and straight down. For whatever reason on this product the plug curves to the right. As most know unless you plan on moving an electric outlet that outlets in the states by code are typically 6 feet apart for interior walls and are typically are installed to the right of a stud. This is why the majority of competitors curve back because they know the placement of the outlets will not be uniformed even so they are designed to fix having an off center plug. In my case I use this surge protector to plug an 82" tv ,a ps5, and a Bose system. The entertainment center and the wall length are perfect however the placement of the wall outlets are not in favor of being centered. This surge protector curves out from the side of my entertainment center out of about 35 cables that are easily managed and concealed the only cable that shows is you guessed it the surge protector cord because it curves it to the wrong side. I know it's a really dumb reason to knock a star off because the surge protector is in fact perfect and what I want to protect my electronics with and yeah sure I could move the entertainment center over 5 inches but moving it over with a big tv makes it really unappealing when it's off centered it's pretty much all I or others can see. Please curve your cords to opposite way or have them hang down with no curve.
