The P131-000-A HDMI to VGA Adapter with Audio (M/F) helps you transmit digital audio and 1080p video from your laptop, Chromebook, MacBook or PC to a VGA-enabled television, monitor or projector. It's an ideal tool for giving video presentations in conference rooms and classrooms, editing multiple documents on a larger screen, or streaming video for digital signage in crystal-clear 1080p.
This HDMI to VGA adapter supports video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 (including 1080p HD) at 60 Hz. Just insert the HDMI male converter into the HDMI source, and connect a VGA cable (sold separately) between the VGA female port and the VGA display. To share stereo audio, connect a 3.5 mm audio cable (sold separately) between the adapter's audio jack and the audio jack on the VGA display, A/V receiver or speakers.
The molded one-piece unit is so compact that it fits in the palm of your hand, making it easy to carry in your backpack or laptop bag for quick connection anywhere. No software, drivers or external power supply is required. If additional power is needed, connect the converter's USB Micro-B port to a USB charger or a USB-A port on the source device. The P131-000-A complies with HDCP 1.4 and HDMI 1.4 standards.

Perfect and invaluable in my line of work!
As a regional trainer in my state, this adapter is an absolute "work saver." Accessing 2nd monitors in the field enables user to adapt VGA to HDMI laptops for dual screen capability.

Nice design, compact and robust.
I didn't have any problems connecting it to my laptop. I'm using Windows 8.1 and it immediately recognized the adapter without having to do anything else. This is a HDMI to VGA with audio. I connected my VGA monitor and worked perfect. Only reason why I give only 4 stars is because colors in my external display seem different. I don't know if I need to play with some of the adjustments. This doesn't happen if I connect directly the VGA display to the VGA port in my laptop. I guess is because the transition from digital to analog. I'll have to play some more with it and see how to solve it. Other than that... I was really surprised how easy the setup was.

Works well but pricey
Generally I have been happy with nearly every Tripp-Lite product I have purchased. The quality is very good and I have rarely experienced any issues with any product from Tripp-Lite. This adapter is no exception, it was received quickly and worked well as a plug and play item. My only negative would be that these adapters are terribly expensive given what they are and the materials from which they are made. Would be nice to see the price of adapters and adapter cables to come down to more reasonable numbers. Due to the high prices of adapters and cables we have modified our purchasing to buy monitors that will not need special adapters. Would make our lives a lot easier if the price of these adapters and adapter cables were simply more reasonable.

It works like it's supposed to.
Elegant in its simplicity. This adapter did what it was supposed to do the first time I plugged it in. It didn't require external power but has a place to plug in. I appreciate that the power connector is regular micro USB and not some funky proprietary plug. My work is transitioning to Chromebooks from Windows desktops, and most of our projectors are VGA. I haven't used the audio out yet.

Thank you for an easy transition!
Today I set up my Acer-Chromebook in my classroom. I set up the Chromebook and unplugged the monitor projector for my overhead projector into the Tripplite P131-000-A adapter. I plugged the adapter into the Chromebook and was able to present my powerpoint with ease. It was so easy! I am really thankful for the ease of this transition. I was a bit anxious about the change, but this adapter made it much easier. THANK YOU!!

I keep one of these in my laptop bag at all times as an IT professional and end up giving them to employees since they can help so much for rooms with only HDMI and no VGA.

Great adapter!
I connect an extra monitor at work, and this did the job perfectly. It worked great right out of the package. Picture quality is just what I expected. I have not used the audio port or the USB power port - that's why I only gave 4 stars.
