The U215-002 2-Port USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Printer/Peripheral Sharing Switch saves you money, time and precious workspace by letting you connect two computers to a single USB peripheral. Recommended for home and small offices, this sharing switch eliminates the cost of buying two printers, two scanners, two hard drives, etc., as well as the problem of where to put them and their cables.
One-touch port switching lets you switch between computers using a mouse, hotkeys or manual pushbutton. The U215-002 detects print commands and switches computers automatically. Idle time-out switching ensures all data is sent from the active printer buffer before switching ports.
A taskbar icon indicates the connected device's status. LEDs on the unit indicate which computer currently controls the device. The U215-002 is compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices and supports data transfer rates up to 480 Mbps.

Works reliably and as intended.
I use this to send files to a CNC machine by putting a flash drive as the switched peripheral.
The only thing I would change is this:
CTRL-F11 allows one to TAKE control of the peripheral. It would be useful to be able to GIVE control to the other port with CTRL-F11. It would act as a toggle instead of only TAKE THE PORT.

Best quality, function and price!
I am an Engineer by profession and know function, quality and value. This is an electro-mechanical switch with a positive click. We tried one from Staples which was strictly software based and it did not work worth a darn. We should have gone to CDW first instead of wasting our time. BTW, the CDW customer assistance was outstanding.and the person helping went out of her way to show us similar products for comparison.

FINALLY!
Don't know what took me so long to FINALLY find this switch, knew one had to exist but just didn't think about CDW after my move from Vernon Hills, IL, where I could just walk into the store and ask. Portland, OR is a long way away, but everything works great now! Thank you!!!

I wouldn't buy this again but my own fault
It works, but I thought it was auto switching. A real pain in the neck to have to go to the box and change buttons all the time. It does not work from the computer software.

This device makes my life easier!
I have two laptops and one printer. This sharing switch allows me to direct printing jobs from either laptop to the printer with the push of a button. The switch works flawlessly. I would recommend it to anyone.
Only one observation for a possible improvement. The switch has two small blue lights on the top surface associated with each input line. The switch is located on the far corner of my desk, with the button for line 1 farther away than button 2. So I view the box from an angle and when button 1 is pressed, the light from it also illuminates button 2 from underneath because there is no lightproof barrier inside the switch. So it is not easy to tell which line is selected. I would imagine that a small piece of opaque black cardboard placed inside the box between the lights would solve the problem.

I would purchase this for switching one device
This works just as described. At first, I hooked up a multi-port USB hub to this and had some issues due to too many devices going through the one USB port on the switcher, so once I reduced the number of devices going through, it worked great.

This is a sweet little devise. It has made sharing a printer in the adjacent office much easier and convenient.

It does what I need it to do
It was frustrating when the wireless connection would drop at the inopportune time. Sometimes it too hours to reset and get back online. And connecting and disconnecting between two computers got old fast. One computer is for teleworking, the other is for family use. Was unable to install the driver on either computers and the supplied A/B cables were too short. With longer cables, the switch sits under the monitor.
