These days there is a heightened sense of awareness that confidential content is at risk. With ever increasing regulation of the manner in which sensitive information is stored and transported, corporations and private citizens are expending more and more resources in order to secure confidential information and other proprietary content.
Enterprise companies spend millions of dollars purchasing, implementing and maintaining security software to protect confidential information. Among other limitations, software encryption generally requires continuous updates to be effective. If not properly updated or if inadvertently disabled by the user, sensitive data may be open to unauthorized access. Even where the software is properly enabled and maintained, it is constantly scrutinized for vulnerabilities and always susceptible to an unanticipated hack. There must be a better solution.
The Toshiba Encrypted USB Flash Drive utilizes a mini-keyboard to authenticate access. The drive also incorporates a rechargeable battery allowing the user to authenticate access before plugging into a USB port. Users simply enter in their secure PIN and plug the drive into any USB 2.0 port on a compatible device. Once access is authenticated, the drive "unlocks" the media permitting access to all of the content stored on the drive. Once work is completed and the drive is removed from a USB port, the drive automatically re-locks and encrypts the stored media with a hardware based 256 bit, American Encryption Standard (AES) 5 algorithm, designed to meet the standards developed by the U.S. government for the protection of sensitive information.
