Fight Theft and the Elements

Unlike other location modules that are easily removable, the Find My® compatible location module is highly integrated with the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack making it difficult for would-be thieves to remove. By using GRS-certified recycled materials,26 plastic bottles were kept out of our waterways and landfills, shredded into small flakes, re-polymerized into plastic chips, and heated and spun into yarn that was stitched and sewn into the fabric of this EcoSmart® bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor instructions: The advertised disaster I recently bought this backpack thinking “Man, a backpack that can act like my Apple Watch in case I misplace my iPhone is a cool gadget to have”… little did I know that information was false. The quality is great, no issues there, but I remember reading over it on CES 2022 and even Targus itself advertised the same feature of being able to look for my iphone in case I misplaced it since I won’t certainly misplace something as big as the backpack. To top it off , the backpack only brought instructions on how to add the device to my phone, but the button itself has different beeps to it, which I’m not sure what one beep does in comparison to the other 2 and three beeps if you hold the button down. It also brought a separate battery thingy in order to replace the one currently in the backpack (which is already under 90% somehow with only 3 days of use) but there are no instructions on how to remove it safely without risking any type of damage; a proper way. I emailed the support team about the lacking of features it advertised and they gave me the typical generic response. I recommend just going with the regular $99 cypress. This one is not worth the extra $50.

I also like the fact that it has the locator tile in it in case I were to misplace it somewhere. I literally carry this backpack just about everywhere so it’s extremely important.

The straps are soft and sturdy and they support the weight evenly, making it feel very light even when I have it stuffed with things. There are plenty of pockets and the zippers are large and durable. I would highly recommend this bag.

I was surprised that it would actually stand upright when it has stuff in it. It's a solid bag that I anticipate to last a very long time. Great product!

The color is nice and neutral and it's over all not a bulky fit. I like the extra security I have with being able to use find my iPhone for my other devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing features Targus continues to advertise I bought the Find My version of the Targus Cypress under the guise that it had precision finding, which they advertise to this day on the product page. Unfortunately, when it got here, it didn't have that function. Customer Service told me "this feature didn't make the final design" which brings me to ask; why is this feature still being advertised? Looking beyond the false advertising, the Find My Locator it does have is very unresponsive. I've had it disconnect for days at a time, and when it is connected, it seems to report its location very infrequently. I tried using the "Notify when left behind" function, and I'd get notifications I left it behind every 30 minutes simply because the last reported location was where I was 30 minutes ago. Looking on the plus side, the locator itself looks very sleek and integrates well with the design of the bag. Since it's under the upper bag handle, it's easy to miss at first glance, and most would probably assume it's not even a tracker. Should you wish to remove the locator, you're given the tools to swap it out with a "blank" block that fits where it was. The bag itself, beyond the tracker, is wonderful. It has a very premium feel and has held up perfectly through my trips as a bus commuter. Even in the rain, water never gets inside. My 16 inch MacBook fits perfectly in the laptop compartment, and I can also put my tablet in the middle compartment too. The large front compartment has plenty of little holders for chargers and writing tools. I also really like that there are drink holders on both sides. Overall, I would highly recommend getting the Cypress without the built-in Find My and simply insert your own tracker. You'd get way more features and still spend less. Great bag, poor Find My Locator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great computer/ gamer bag The Targus Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My Locator is an incredible and functional bag for carrying a laptop and supplies. The bag has several (3) larger pockets that are padded to protect your laptop. The bag holds a laptop up to 15.6" and is structured to keep itself standing upright. There is padded straps to make it very comfortable to carry as well as a luggage strap, if you needed/ wanted to take it on a flight with you. The best feature, in my opinion, is the Apple Find My locator functionality.you can track the bag from your iPhone, iPad or Mac computer. The Find My module is integrated within the bag, making it hard to remove. This is a nice feature to prevent theft of your belongings. This module is water resistant and takes a coin cell battery that has approximately 1 year of life in it. The next best feature of this backpack is that it is made from 26 plastic bottles! How cool is that? The design is sleek and functional and I love the neutral color. Overall, I would 100% recommend this bag to anyone in the market.
