The chill mat is very loud. The fan often rattles. It doesn't shut down while the computer is asleep. I am very unhappy with it.

Hot Laptop Gone
I sit on the couch with my computer all the time and this device isolates my legs from the machine as well as providing a more stable place to put the computer. It has to help keep the computer cooler too. Some of these laptops are real heat monsters and that can't be good for the electronics. With laptops having fewer and fewer ports these days the extra ports included are a welcome addition and the velcro straps keeps wires contained nicely. Fans are nearly silent. It's mostly plastic but so is my Vette. And did I mention that this thing keeps my lap cooler?
Buy one and be cool too !!!

performance does not meet the price
I bought this along with a laptop I recently purchased.
It has a great performance on cooling and small compared to other chill mats.
However, it makes a very unpleasant high frequency noise, which can be really annoying.
Unless you have 10 ft cables for your keyboard, mouse, and monitor, this noise will hunt you down.

Perfect!
This Targus 17" dual fan chill mat with hub is exactly what I was looking for. It fits my laptop amazingly, and it's durable but isn't bulky and heavy. I can use the mat on my desk or on my lap with no issues. I also love how it has the hub so I can plug it in and not having wires running everywhere, I can just plug it all into the hub. This is perfect for students, work or anyone in general. I highly recommend!

Solid - with one issue
Overall, this is a decent laptop cooling pad. I have two others and this is the lightest, which is a plus. The one downside is that the fans are smack in the middle of the cooling pad. In my opinion, gaming computers are the most frequent offenders when it comes to overheating. When it comes to construction, most gaming comps have the cpu/graphics cards located at the back of the machine, near the screen hinges.
As a result, the cooling fans of this pad aren't quite as effective as they could be. It's still better than nothing, but the overall design seems to have a bit of a disconnect from actual use.
Overall, it's a sturdy product with additional USB ports (always a plus!) that will help cool your laptop. If you're having significant overheating problems, however, you may want to look elsewhere.

17 inch dual fan chill mat is an excellent product for a laptop computer. It keeps you’re laptop cool with the two fans. It also features a couple of USB ports to add even more functionality to the chill mat. I would highly recommend this product.

Got this about a month ago and was actually pleasantly surprised. It looks like it is made of metal in the picture, however it is made of plastic but that is not a bad thing. It is still well made and its not that heavy. The extra usb ports are great as well.

I use my laptop a lot and sometimes will use it on the couch. Noticing how it would get rather hot, I got this product. It works great to prop my laptop on my lap(or other surfaces and the fan really helps to keep it cooled off!

I don't considers myself a picky person. I am a little less than impressed with the fact that this mat has a power input and no AC or DC adapter included. I have contacted the retailer and the manufacturer's customer service only to learn that neither are able to reveal or even discover the appropriate voltage or tip polarity this mat needs for the success I was going for. Targus Customer service has told me(on my phone call with them) that they will be getting back to me with what I had felt to be a both simple and common curiosity...

Does what it supposed to do
I got this a few weeks back so I could use it on my laptop to keep it cool. First thing I noticed I the quietness of the fans , barely heard them. It also did what it says and kept my laptop nice and chilled. The one flaw I would give this item would be the locking mechanism is a little flimsy.

Quiet fans
The hub is a really useful feature on this mat/stand. It draws power from your laptop to drive the fans, but also gives you four extra usb ports on the back. I'm always over-subscribed on ports, as I only have two on my laptop, and was constantly juggling an external keyboard, mouse and jump drive.
I had read reviews complaining the fans were too loud, but honestly, I was surprised how quiet they are. They're not silent, but definitely no louder than the fan in my laptop.
I was hoping to be able to prop my laptop up a bit more, but on the higher settings, the laptop tends to slide forwards. There are rubber pads on the mat that are supposed to hold the laptop in place, but I guess these don't mesh well with my particular model. The front lip holds it on the mat ok, but I wish it had some kind of clip to hold the device more securely. The tray itself is plastic and I was expecting it to be a little more rigid than it is. The clip mechanism for setting the different tilt heights works ok, but feels a little loose, and doesn't give me much confidence that it's going to last long. Hopefully it proves me wrong!

Fantastic!
I am so happy with the 17" Dual Fan Chill Mat with Hub. My daughter is constantly on her laptop and after hours of use, it gets hot and makes lots of noise. The chill hub has helped immensely! I keeps her laptop cool, it's easy to use and convenient. The extra ports in the back are a huge asset too!!

I have a 17" laptop that I use every night and my legs are always getting sweaty from it sitting on them. This product was amazing at keeping the laptop elevated enough for me not to have to constantly look way down and it kept the bottom of my laptop cooled down. I was able to plug my phone charger into the side of it and also a little light and it worked great. The laptop wouldn't stay on the little ledge but it also didn't slide off. It stayed in place to whole time.

After using this for a few weeks, I’ll say it did what I needed it to do. It isn’t as quiet as I hoped it would be, but I generally have headphones in or playing music so it wasn’t too distracting to me. I’m usually using it on a pillow or the couch & I will say if that’s what you primarily plan to do, this works.

Cooling even without fans!
I got this cooling laptop mainly for the built in hub for charging other devices while using my laptop. I was using a basic laptop desk with pads for using it on your lap. I'm using an alianware m15 r2. It does tend to run hot while using games so I figured the extra cooling from the built in fans, wouldn't hurt. The fans are very quiet, however don't blow a whole lot of air. it does keep the laptop cooler just by sitting on it with the built in vent holes, it allows more air the be under the laptop(where it pulls the air from than the standard laptop standoffs. I do miss my cushion bottom, but overall I am happy with and definitely would recommend for anyone who is worried about laptop temp, using fans or not it helps.

Laptop Essential
I am using my laptop more and more these days because of it portability around the house, rather than sitting in my office all day. This Targus dual fan with hub allows me to keep the laptop cool and prevent long running cycles on the laptop itself but add other devices like my phone, external speakers or really anything with a USB attachment. I will always keep something like this as long as I have a laptop!

This dual fan chill mat is more for desk/table top use. I would not recommend using this on your lap. The bottom is made of hard plastic in a grid pattern. For me, it duals as a laptop stand which is great. The quality seems to be pretty good, it's holding up my 15" laptop with no issues. The only downfall is the noise of the fans. It's definitely louder than I had anticipated, but it does do the job and keep my laptop cool.

The Targus 17” Dual Fan Chill Mat is exactly what I needed. I often set my computer in my lap when I use it and it usually ends up getting very warm. The Dual Fan Chill Mat does a super great job of keeping it cool, allowing me to sit in my recliner with my computer for hours.

This is a great little tool. It keeps the heat down in my ancient laptop, and allows me to plug in all my ancillary devices. I can set a decent angle for the keyboard which is always a problem with a laptop.

Excellent cooling but kind of loud
This is my first time using a cooling mat, and I admit I'm not sure how quiet they usually are. This one strikes me as kind of loud, in that I have to wear headphones if I want to concentrate on anything else while it's running, but that's not a super negative point. It does its job well, though the plastic feels a lot bulkier than it looks in the images.
However, it has a DC port but no DC adapter? Which is just a little bit baffling.

Cool Mat needs movable fans to match laptop
While the cool mat is well made, it is not flaxible enough for most laptops because it only blows air up in the middle. With my Dell Precision M6500 laptop, where the chill mat fans blow upwards, is exactly where my laptop is trying to blow air downward.
The fan posts should be removed, so you can move the fans anywhere. I fixed my laptop overheating with the chill mat, by moving one fan to the upper left corner to blow up where my laptop sucks in, and flipping the other fan over in the middle, to help suck in where my laptop blows out. Just leave your mat an empty grid of holes that can be used for attaching the fans anywhere they are needed. Remove all the posts, and lengthen the wires. Each laptop is different.

Love this stand!!
This is a great stand for docking my Macbook Pro when I'm at my desk. It allows me to adjust it to the optimal viewing angle, and utilize my mechanical keyboard which I prefer... On top of that, the fans keep the laptop nice and cool and that's always important when it comes to performance.

Doesn't last much longer than the warranty
I bought this along with my gigabyte aero laptop for the versatility; adjustable height, usb hub, dual fans were basically in the perfect spot. I didnt even really mind the all plastic construction of it. I was happy with it until the left fan started going out, conveniently just past the 1-year warranty window. It would be a loud continuous grinding for about 30 seconds before it would quiet down, sometimes a light smack would stop it, and sometimes it wouldn't. I also think the vibrations from the fan whenever it would start up eventually caused the GPU fan in my laptop to also start grinding as I have now had to replace that as well. I just replaced it with another cooling pad from another brand that still has 2 usb ports (so i could still hook up an external usb hub), RGB, and a single powerful 180mm fan that isnt even audible once my laptop fans kick in. If you're in need of a cooling mat, I'd look elsewhere. you can easily get a better quality mat and a usb hub to go along with it for the same price or even less.

Great for both personal and work laptop
I really needed a chill mat with a built in hub since I started working from home. It really helps with the laptop because I often work from the couch and bed and those are not ideal surfaces for a laptop so this helps keep the laptop stop burning up and the fan going crazy loud. This works great for my Dell professional laptop for work but also works well for my personal hp laptop. The hub connects easily too and its lightweight so I’m easily able to move it to a different location and set it up where needed.

SO DISAPPOINTED IN TARGUS!!!!
I have tried 8 of these Targus AWE84US silver and AWE81USblack Targus Cooling Pads because it is exactly what I need. Unfortunately, they all have this high pitched fan humming noise that is really annoying. I will be returning all 8. This is the first time Targus has disappointed me. I called Targus Cust Svc at (877)482-7487 and the representative said they have had several complaints about this but there is nothing that Targus has done to remedy this known defect in this Cooling Pad. I am shocked to find out that Targus just does not seem to care at all. AWE84US or AWE81US.

Placement of the fans
I bought the Chill Mat plus+ over a year ago and thanks to the pandemic, I took it out of the box and began to use it. I have a Toshiba Satellite S50 series Laptop and the vent for the computer is to the right. The fans are under the center of the computer

Amazing Product!
The 17" Chill Mat+ with 4-Port Hub is great. The fans ran silently and kept my laptop extremely cool. It was very comfortable using the chill mat+, whether suiting it in my lap or on a table. The USB ports were conveniently placed and work with my other devices.

the fan noise is annoying
I use it to keep my laptop elevated but rarely plug it into my computer because the noise level of the fans is terrible. I was hoping for a way to turn them off so I could use the extra usb hubs but can't see how to do that

I was a bit hesitant to use this product, as I was unsure if it would work. Wow! Was I surprised! Get my legs from getting warm. The laptop did not overheat. It was easy to place on my lap. The fan was not noisy.

Just unpack and away I went. Simple to set up and a great help to keeping the laptop cool and running for the hours I am on Zoom. Also a great help with the extra USB ports. Keeps the keyboard a more comfortable angle, too.

Nice cooling mat
I wanted to have a cooling mat for my laptop in my home office. I decided to try this Targus chill mat out.
The chill mat works well and the extra 4 ports are a welcome addition.
My only complaint is that the fan is a bit louder than I expected it to be. Other than that it is a great addition to my home office.
I got the 17” model. It’s easy to use and easy to connect. A good value for the price.
I highly recommend this chill mat.

The 17in Chill Mat Plus with 4-port hub is the coolest chill Matt I've ever owned. Something I think is really cool about this chill mat is that it has 4 USB ports so it allows me to multitask and charge other devices at the same time it also allows me to spend more time on my laptop to get more things done. Another thing I really like about this Chill Mat Plus is the durability of it with the kids using it also I must say its holding up great I recommend this Chill Mat Plus

Its ok.. We use it for our laptop . I like how its alittle higher so my neck doesn't hurt so bad. Only complaint with it .the clips to move up and down ..there should only be one. When you move one its a pain to keep level. Other than that it's pretty nice.

Great cooling system to keep my laptop cool
I am pretty happy with this chill mat. I can now comfortably sit with my laptop on my lap without the worry of it overheating. I like the way it angles the laptop perfectly as well. The cords are not long so there is not tangling either. This mat is very lightweight as well. It pulls air from both sides of the mat to keep my laptop nice and cool. I recommend this chill mat highly!

The product works just as advertised.
It is strong and sturdy, lifts my laptop nicely to a more comfortable position, has a great fan size that keeps my laptop cool at all times. I haven’t had any issues with overheating whatsoever. It also has extra space for cable management. As well as a 4 port hub which allows you to charge your phone or tablets, which has definitely come in handy for me. It has helped make working on the computer long hours at a time a lot easier and especially more comfortable. I have no issues with this product at all, it’s a great product and I highly recommend it.

I bought this item from Office Depot and I am not pleased with it at all. Now I do have a laptop for gaming which gets hotter than a normal office laptop, but I also have gaming headphones that allow me to block out noise. This chill mat has such an obnoxious hum that I have to unplug it to play. Having it try to cool my laptop is a joke. The fans are sub par and the usb ports work half the time. Unplugged my keyboard to run through the cooling mat and it would work then turn off while I was just trying to login. I have only had it a week and it is now just sitting on my floor under my desk. Should have kept the box.

This chill mat is perfect!!
My laptop fits on this perfectly!! I can have it raised up, without it sliding off. It's so much easier to use my laptop, rather than using it flat. I'm always worried because it gets so hot while I'm using it. This having two fans, no matter how much I use it, it never gets hot. The 4 Port Hub, is an added convenience! You definenitly wouldn't regret buying one!!

This Chill Mat is by far one of the best and most practical inventions out there. This Chill Mat does exactly what is says it will do, keeps your laptop cool. The one and only thing I am not a huge fan of is the fans, they are a bit noisy and when I am trying to watch something or talk to someone on FaceTime it is a bit challenging to hear. I love that there are 4 USB ports so I am able to plug multiple things in and do not have to search for wall plugs or adapters. I do love the rubber pads on the bottom which prevents the stand from sliding on my table. I also am really impressed with the quality of this mat, it is a very durable plastic, so I know it will hold up for a long time. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a high quality and practical chill mat as you will not be disappointed by this one.

I use this more as a stand for my desk than anything else as my computer doesn't have great battery life. This does the double duty of lifting my laptop to a better height and cooling down when it's needed. The fan can be a little loud for me but it does it's job of cooling. The unit is sturdy and lightweight, easy and simple to move around when needed.

This cooler is amazing. I was having trouble with my computer slowing itself down during the work day and after trying this stand I no longer have that problem. I have a Lenovo that is a few years old but still works great. I have noticed though that if I was working on larger projects my laptop would slow down and always felt hot. Well this was the cure, my computer now stays at full performance and may even work better then it did before with the added cooling. It is not very loud or distracting so for anyone looking for a solid stand that can help keep your laptop cool this is the one. As a bonus it comes with 4 extra USB ports that really are nice for any accessories you may use. I highly recommend this to anyone who uses a laptop.

With everyone at home more often this has become a favorite tool! It’s pretty easy to adjust the height. It definitely helps keep the laptops cooler. It has extra USB ports too and those come in handy too!

Very disappointed. This is the 2nd one I've had. You can hear metal rubbing metal after just a few months of use. This happened to the first one also. It's about 9 months old so probably out of warranty if there is one.

have recently got this Targus 17" Chill Mat+ with 4-Port Hub and would say I’m not much impressed yet . Yah it kinda serves the purpose and keeps hot laptop off my lap. But it is not as comfortable to use as it looks , the material looks kind of flimsy and cheap and I work with heavy machines , always afraid of going to break something . Fans are silent but I doubt they are working . I have recently got it ,so for now I can say
If you REALLY need a cooling pad for when you are sitting on a sofa or a bed, and your laptop is overheating when sitting on your lap, then yes, may be this fits and will solve your problems. But if you're looking for a dual-use incline stand, that you can carry to a desk and continue to use as an incline stand,then would suggest to think again !

Nice Product, But Could Use Some Style Changes
The Targus - 17" Chill Mat+ with 4-Port Hub is very fancy looking, but it is kind of difficult to move the side selectors to adjust the height. I think that the styling of the chill mat could have been better. And, the fans are quite noisy. I like the rubber pads that keep the laptop from sliding, but I still worry that it might do so due to the fact the front lip is low and wouldn't keep it from sliding if the rubber pads would not secure it for some reason. So, I don't feel confident leaving it unattended. I would not suggest that anyone purchase this project until some changes are made to it.

I received this item a couple of weeks ago and its been great so far! I use it with one of my older laptops that tends to overheat pretty quickly and I’ve noticed that it doesn’t get as hot with this chill mat. I really enjoy it!

This one awesome little gadget solves so many of my desk setup pain points. I use my laptop at a desk a lot of the time, with external mouse and keyboard, plus an external hard drive, and an external microphone. So of course I need a laptop stand because otherwise the viewing angle isn’t very ergonomic at my desk, but I also need a USB hub for all those peripherals, and it all makes for quite the chaotic setup. But now, everything is handled by this Chill Mat. It fits my larger laptop perfectly and securely, and the fans definitely help keep things cool (I live in Florida so my poor laptop has its work cut out for it on its own). The adjustable height lets me get the perfect viewing angle, and maybe the best part is that I can toss my USB hub doohickey that used to have to hang off my laptop all the time, because the 4 built-in USB ports work great. Basically, this gadget does it all, so now my WFH life (and PC gaming life, shh) has been made a little less painless.

I have really enjoyed using this chill mat. I love the fact that it has a 4 port hub. It saves so much time from searching for places to charge up my other items. The sounds of the fans are not bothersome at all.

Good features
I love that it has a USB port, and I feel like the dual fans really helps with the problen of my laptop heating up when I'm trying to play games. Being able to put the mat into different positions also helps with the ergonomics of using my laptop.

Loud and annoying fan
I got this from Staples technically. I don't have the receipt anymore, but I doubt that would help.. I basically got this product on July 20th 2023, and well it has just started to make this really loud and annoying humming noise. When I unplug it and plug it back in, it either starts up again, or it doesn't. Occasionally it requires me to tap the device itself. It's just too loud.

It's a very good product but after a while it starts clicking. I believe the fan blades are hitting their casing.

Great for my daughter
I haven’t tried the actually fab portion of this yet but I’m glad it’s there when needed. My daughter likes this for her laptop. She sits on the couch and it’s on a flat surface, on an angle and elevated. If her laptop gets hot we will plug the fan in with the usb to use it but it hasn’t been needed yet since she doesn’t use her laptop for long.

First, the durability of the product is second to none, Second, the user friendly (the entire use) of the product is easy. The amount of ports make the ease, and everything else, so simple. It effectively cools my laptop while gaming and I don't have to sit in front of a desktop at a chair anymore.

adjustable height, keeps laptop cool
This Chill Mat+ is really nice! My 14 year old son takes his laptop with him everywhere. The lap board he was using before wasn't very stable and the laptop would slide off and break. Plus it wasn't the greatest for keeping the laptop cool. This Chill Mat is a great size to hold the laptop in place and you can adjust the height if you have it sitting on your lap or if you are laying down looking at it so you don't get a kink in your neck. It's nice that it has the extra 4-Port hub of USBs in the back as it requires a USB plug to run the fan to cool the lapotp, and my son's laptop only has 2 USB ports. That being said, not everything works in those back USB ports. Maybe they only work with USB 2.0 or 3.0 specific devices? Anyway, the fan works well, but it is a little bit loud and takes time to get used to. You can unplug the fan and the elevation of the laptop still helps it to stay cool, but the fan helps more. Overall, my son has enjoyed using this Chill Mat and carries it around the house. It's much more stable and secure and it's nice that it can be adjusted for the position he is using it at.

Love it had multi view angles & dual cooling fan
The Targus - 17" Chill Mat+ with 4-Port Hub is great for even the elementary children to use when doing three school work. I love that you can sit it on your lap or table and can be adjusted to multiple viewing angles. I also love that it has 4 ports to hook up my mouse, printer along with other items, if I need. I would definitely purchase again.

Great Product
This is really a necessity for older students in school. As early as middle school I'd say. All the way up through college. Also, if you do alot of work of a laptop, like me. Fan works great. Stand is sturdy. I highly recommend.

This unit has been awesome. I used a less high tech solution to cool my laptop and this meets all my needs. This is a real solution that also doubles as a dock. It works on multiple sizes of laptops and I've used it for both my work and personal laptops.

Perfect!
I freaking love this thing! I have an older laptop that gets extremely hot because the battery is old! This works great to keep it elevated and cooled. It also has the great feature of having 4 ports to plug stuff into as well and is very convenient and easy to bring with you wherever you go!

This is absolutely the best invention ever. It saves my laptop from getting over heated. Keeps it running cool and running smoothly. My laptop sits perfectly on it with no sliding around. It stays put I like the fact that it runs over the laptop power, so when the laptop is off so is it!

Overpriced, Sub Par Quality
I bought this product at a staples for about $70 and do not have a receipt as I never intended on anything failing on a laptop cooler. There is no reason for a laptop cooler to be this expensive and so poorly made. Within 2 months of purchase and usage it failed because of the plastic plate bending and scraping against one of the cooler fans either by too much heat or too much weight for the cooler. My honest opinion is the fans are too small and too little to really do any significant cooling as well.
Other cooling pads do everything this does, but better for cheaper. I bought another cooling pad from a little less of a known brand for $25 and became instantly aware of the quality and performance difference.
The cheaper cooling pad still had the ability to tilt, had 5 fans moving much more air while still remaining quiet along with a knob to adjust fan speed, also featuring a foldable lip for the laptop, best of all it had a metal plate so its future proofed for heat. 8 months later and its still going strong.
I am rather disappointed with the performance quality and options such an expensive cooler offered.

Fixed my overheating issue!
Older laptop overheating. Purchased this and the problem is resolved 100%. Duel fans are quiet. Also tilts the unit to a nice degree, so is better ergonomically.

It works
The Chill Mat that I have is fairly quite (like white noise) and it is making a huge difference in keeping my Dell laptop cooler.
