Compact and effective
This does the same job as much of the ageing clutter of much larger hardware that I have lying around. Just right for spare 2.5-inch drives. One small quibble, no indicator light.

Works well with SSD, but not with 2,5 HDD
I bought it to copy my whole computer to a SSD and worked fine, but I tried to use the old one as external USB and I'm not able to format it, it says "non initilized drive", and shows error when trying to initialize.

Quick and Simple
I have tested this SATA to USB cable using several different SATA disks including regular 2.5" spinning disks and 2.5" SSD disks.
The cable comes in zip lock bag with a little instruction book. The cable is very strong feeling and has a good amount of flex. The cable is long enough that I can connect it to a USB port on the bottom of my normal size PC tower and have the other end with the drive sit on top of the tower. The SATA end of the cable has 4 tiny pin holes in it which on close inspections with a drive connected, one of them has an LED in it. The LED stays lit to indicate that it is working and then flashes for disk activity.
When connected, the computer detected the cable and attached drive very quickly. Transferring data to the drive was very quick and consistent in speed throughout the process. I have confirmed that this cable only works with 2.5" drives as the product describes. I guess USB just doesn't have enough power for full size 3.5" drives, which isn't a flaw of the product but larger hard drives.
Great simple cable to get data from 2.5" drives. Instant portable hard drive cable or help in recovery of files laptop/SSD hard drives. I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Not what I expected
Just got my cable, seems to work with some 2.5" HDD's and not others. Particularly IBM 500GB 7200RPM 2.5" drives. Tried on 2 Lenovo laptops, t400 and t440, and macbook air.
IBM FRU 1P42D0752. All drives work with BYTEC drive mate with power supply.
Also the cable is only 9" long making it awkward to hookup and use. No usb 3.0 or data indicators. Also I can't boot off known good drives with this cable. I am able to transfer files with the drives that do connect to the laptop

Better than expected
I bought this product about 2/3 weeks ago for my old Internal Sata HDD that I removed from and old PC. Instead of smashing it up I decided to buy this cable and turn it into an external storage device (after formatting).
I must say for the price it is spot on, the build quality is great, it comes nicely packaged and I did a speed test with my brothers regular External HDD and the difference was noticable. I really like this product and I would definitely recommend/buy another product. No problems to date, happy customer! Thanks StarTech!

Worked 4 times then died
I used this to back up my operating system onto an external HDD which it did rather quickly. I used it a couple more times to back up other programs with no problems, the HDD was recognized as soon as I plugged the cable in. Of course today I need to get software off the backup drive and the cable is dead, the HDD is fine. Won't buy again.

It just works
Plugged into Windows, Linux, and Macbook. On the Macbook I went through a USB-C to USB-A hub, and got full speed. Tried on an older Lenovo laptop (USB2.0) and the port didn't provide enough power.
The cable is sturdy without being too stiff, and is "just right" as to length (in my opinion). Cable-to-connector junctions are solid and reinforced with extra plastic (almost like an RJ-45 boot). The drive-side connector is really beefed up, compared to some of the other USB-to-SATA adapters I've tried. So I think this one would last much longer than they did.
No drivers, no extras, nothing else needed. It just works, and at full speed.
Definitely going in the "repair bag".

Works well and part of my toolkit!
The USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III Hard Drive adapter cable w/UASP - SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD / HDD works with my Windows laptop but it seemed like I needed a USB 3.0 port to provide enough power because when plugged into a USB 2.0 it would not light up.
No special software or drivers required - the hard drive showed up as another drive when I looked at My Computer.

Works great for its purpose
I picked up this USB 3.0 to 2.5" sata HDD/SSD cable as I wanted something small and portable as I didn't want to carry around my Star-Tech HDD dock.
I got this cable at a great price and I've been satisfied with the performance and quality.
Great unit.

A must have Hard Drive Adapter
The Hard Drive Adapter has replaced the need for much larger equipment and is more portable and easier to use for single drive data transfer. The quality cable and connections will last for years to come.

Died after 1 use
Worked great, *once*. Now isn't visible when plugged into multiple different computers. Still powers on 2.5" laptop drives and various SSDs, but none can be used. Other similar adapters work on all tested drives without any issues. Ironically this adapter was more expensive and I bought it because I have been happy with Startech quality in the past.

Handy Cable for Hard drive
Love this product. I have found this to be an extremely handy adapter/cable to have around. I find I am always hooking up different drives with my work in IT and I find that this is small and easy to take with me. The product works fantastic and I have had no issues at all. I would highly recommend this adapter.

Works very well
I received this adapter a few weeks back, but had to wait for the SSD to arrive. So a couple of days ago the SSD, a kingston A400 240 GB, arrived and I hooked it up to my Raspberry Pi 400, using the USB3S2SAT3CB. It's working like a charm from the start and reaches very satisfying data transfer rates. So all in all I'm very happy with this product, also because it supports UASP. The only thing I'm not sure of is the working of TRIM through this adapter. My OS reports that, if TRIM is supported, it's not enabled, but that can also be an issue of the Kingston. But as said before, very happy with this product!

SSD Trim Compatible
One of the best USB3.0 to SATA3 cables out there, It works faultlessly with SATA-3 SSDs and 2.5in mechanical drives but I would not expect it to work with 3.5in drives due to the limited power available from a single USB 3.0 port. This cable is one of the few that supports trimming SSDs over USB 3.0. If using fstrim with Linux, a udev rule may be needed. Instructions on how to do this are on the web.

Great for SSD on Raspberry Pi4
I have a few of these to connect Samsung SSDs to my Raspberry Pi4's. Since these can boot from a USB3 connected device, I have no SDcards in use at all. I am getting reads around 350MB/s and thats just amazing. Stay away from BOT USB2SATA adapters as the throughput isn't the only issue, also the response time is worse.

WORTHLESS PRODUCT. Should be a zero star rating!
No where in the description of this product do they say the adapter doesn't supply the power needed to make the transfer of files work from one device to another. This is an April Fools Day product. Here, I'll sell you this and pocket your money, leaving you empty handed. Wasn't that fun? NOT! Stay as far away from this product as you can!!!!!
