The SM2NGFFMBU33 external USB 3.0 to M.2 (NGFF) enclosure turns your SATA M.2 solid state drive into a portable, high speed USB 3.0 drive.

Get higher external performance by using an M.2 SSD in place of a platter drive, harnessing the full potential of your USB 3.0 computer system. The enclosure supports UASP, enabling you to achieve transfer speeds up to 70% faster than traditional USB 3.0 when used with a UASP-enabled host computer.

This slim, pocket-sized SSD enclosure has been specifically engineered for mobility. The enclosure features a lightweight yet durable design, which fits easily into your pocket or laptop bag. For further convenience, the enclosure is powered entirely using the USB host bus and requires no external power adapter.

Durable aluminum construction helps to ensure your drive won't be damaged while you're on the move. Plus, to maximize heat dissipation the enclosure features specially engineered ventilation holes which help maintain a cooler operating environment for optimal performance and a longer life span for your drive.

For wide compatibility with all of the common M.2 solid state drives, the enclosure can mount multiple drive heights including: 2242, 2260, and 2280.

The M.2 enclosure is backed by a StarTech.com 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Improved Performance with UASP

UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or above), and Linux. In testing UASP performs with a 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.

At the same peak in testing UASP also shows an 80% reduction in required processor resources.

Testing results were obtained using an Intel Ivy Bridge system, a UASP enabled StarTech.com Enclosure, and a SATA III solid state drive.

StarTech.com Thunderbolt 3 Dual 4K Dock for Laptops - Windows Only is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but... I love the simplicity of this device. I plug in one USB-C connection on my Mac and it supports two monitors. Everything works as expected. I just have one complaint (let me know if you have a solution). When I plug it in in the morning, sometimes it ignores my screen organization. It will put my left screen image on the right monitor and my right screen image on the left monitor. I can usually fix it by unplugging it and plugging it back in, but I'd like the screens to just come up correctly all the time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does NOT support dual monitors Beware: This dock does NOT support dual monitors. I have a 2019 15" MacBook Pro running macOS 10.14.6 Mojave and two HP ZR2740w monitors (native resolution 2560 x 1440 @ 60 Hz). When I plug one monitor into the dock and one into the computer, they both work. But when I plug both into the dock, they do not work. The mouse freezes every few seconds, and I can not use the computer. Unacceptable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bit pricey but works! My wallet docked a star :P My laptop requires a min of 85W so this fits the bill and it does work on Linux. Tested with kernel 5.0.8. Remember to add the dock to approved Thunderbolt ACL list.:~$ sudo tbtadm approve-allFound domain "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0"Found child "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0/0-0/0-3"Authorizing "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0/0-0/0-3"Added to ACLAuthorized

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with Skype on a mac Good functionality but this is a business level product. Needs to work seemlessly with Skype.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some problems It worked great for 2 weeks for my Macbook Pro. USB devices stopped working after 2 weeks with the dock. Power delivery and displays still work. Now I need a separate dongle for my USB devices. Might try to return this device and get something else that works.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly good, but problem with ethernet Use this with MacBook Pro 13 (2018 model). Everything works nicely except for ethernet. I get to choose Thunderbolt Ethernet on the Mac but do not get any IP nor can us it by assigning my own IP. My switch sees the device, and the hardware handshake is OK. (green light on)If I put an Apple USB->Ethernet dongle in the USB-port on the Dock the same ethernet-cable immediatly work on that connection. But on the internal ethernet on the Dock it does not.Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work with Macbook Pro 15 Mojave Got it to connect to a Dell Displayport to my Macbook pro 15 running the latest Mojave OS. The power via USB-C works great. Unfortunately, nothing else does. The USB-C to Displayport is not recognized at all - the Macbook gives an error that the thunderbolt device is not supported. My display also has an HDMI in, so I used Apple original HDMI-USB-C adapter and still the same error. I then connect the display directly to the Macbook and it works flawlessly, including sending the power through the Apple adapter. So at this time, the dock is acting as a super-expensive power supply!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Power Supply is VERY noisy Had this unit for a few months and all was well until I networked it with a few other computers in my studio. AWFUL noise and static/crackles/whining coming through my audio monitors. Started trouble shooting to narrow down the culprit and its the cheap power supply on this dock. If I switch to the supplied Apple power supply, all is golden but I have to plug all my devices straight into the MacBook Pro which defeats the purpose of the dock. If anyone has any ideas how to fix this PLEASE enlighten me!
