Once I got this one, I promptly returned the other one. The material feels great and it makes my iPad mini feel safe. It cover the pencil when it's attached to my ipad and I don't fear that it will get hit off and out of the case. Folding it to make it stand up is really easy and looks cool too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right We just got an iPad Mini and the first question after buying it was "where can we get our Speck Balance folio?" I'll tell you why I'm a big fan of this case, and have had one on every iPad our family has owned (4th, 6th, 9th gen) and now Mini, for several reasons. First, they hold up incredibly well - the first one I had lasted years, and I only replaced the second one because we wanted a new color. The balance folio provides a great mid ground of protection while still allowing you to appreciate the design of the device. The way it folds makes sense (no awkward positions you won't use), and the notches on the underside of the cover to hold up the screen are solid. I like that our iPads feel secure and safe, yet still light as intended, in these cases. The texture of the outside gives just enough tactile feel without being sticky or fuzzy or anything else. The insides are soft, but not so much to eventually get gross. The clasp to close it, or hold the cover open, is solid and will hold up well (just as all the ones I owned before did). Sorry to get into it, but I just love this case guys. Only complaint: Need more color options for the Mini 6! Maybe a blue or gray? Or a deep purple?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Reliable Case Ever! I have been using this case for more than two weeks now, and I still have no complaints. I bought this case because it was the only one I could find that had a camera cover, snap closure, and an easily accessible Apple Pencil charging point all in one. An added bonus was the sit-up grooves, so one can use their iPad in landscape view. The case fit my iPad mini like a glove, and I loved the material, stitching, and color. I wanted a cover that gave protection, style, and comfort, and this case was perfect. I strongly recommend both this case and this brand because even though it's products might seem more expensive than other brands, it is a solid and sensible investment into both the longevity and protection of your tech devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different than my previous Speck iPad mini 4 cover I loved my previous Speck iPad mini 4 cover, it was a soft, smooth "leatherette" texture (the grey cover on the left in the photo) with a wake-and-sleep function. The new iPad 2021 cover is made of a textured "nylon" fabric that is not as luxe feeling, with no "wake and sleep" function, and does not feel as sturdy or strong (see the black cover on the right in the photo). I'm also a bit confused, because someone posted photos of the old grey leatherette cover on this page in their review of the 2021, and that grey color isn't even offered for the 2021, so it's deceptive. When I phoned Speck, I was told, "it's the same material." Really? Definitely bummed, but appreciate the free return label. Haven't decided whether to keep it yet, as the old Speck case really did prevent my prior Mini from breaking on many occasions, it was a quality product.

But their customer support team really rubbed me the wrong way when I inquired as to whether they were going to actually ship the item when the label had been created five days prior, so I decided to return it upon receipt and go with another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ipad mini case This case is not that great. The plastic where the camera is, is very thin. That area of the case just broke off one day and I did not once drop it. It felt like the plastic there got brittle. I would not recommend. I tried to claim a warranty but was denied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No magnetic cover The product is well build (as all speck products) but I didn't like the fact that the cover doesn't close magnetically and does not turn the screen off (like with the presidio, which I own for the Ipad Pro 11). The little lock is not very friendly either. It does the job, but not as impressive as the presidio.

My last iPad mini's screen shattered while sitting on the corner of my bed in it's case. I honestly couldn't tell you what happened. I upgraded to the latest mini and purchased a Speck case for it. It's such quality material, I love the magnetic camera flap, and the closure is secure. Convinient, simple, and I know the iPad is protected.

The only thing I would have loved more is if it would have auto wake option on opening its cover, as it was for ipad mini 5. I guess they might have left that out for apple pencil magnetic compatibility. Still, a very good buy and above all other brands in the market.

First, without an iPad pencil, which I don't have, getting the closing snap to engage is unnecessarily awkward because there is no hard backing (i.e., the pencil) for me to push against. Second, the camera flap is annoying and ruins the lines of the case, whereas a simple exposed opening would have been easier/simpler and sufficient.

It nestled the Apple Pencil safely away while still making it easy to access. The fold down flap on the back makes the camera a thing… or not! When the camera is not in use, it hides it away for an extremely professional and sleek look. Materials seem high quality, and case fits securely and evenly into holder. 10/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did it's job! Love the color and protection. Dropped it on concrete and the case took the damage leaving my iPad completely protected! I also love the camera flap. And my pencil fits with a cover too! Even though the flap is a little raised due to the slight extra bulk of a pencil cover it's barely noticeable. One thing to note is that the sleep/wake feature does not work like it did on the similar case for my Mini 2. I thought it could've been the little bulk of my pencil cover but it still didn't work.

I have purchased Speck products before and have been very happy with their performance and durability. They have lasted for the life of my devices. This cover has a little fold out cover to protect the camera lens. Haven't used it much so far, but I like the magnet quality keeping it both open and closed when needed. Was happy purchasing directly from Speck…had 25% off and free shipping/returns.

I do this because I have had wonderful experiences with the protection they provide. Many devices have been dropped, none have broken. This includes devices the grandchildren have/use. In fact this case was purchased for an iPad for my granddaughter.

I like the multiple viewing angles. The inclusion of a spot to securely hold your Apple Pencil is a key feature that many cases are lacking. The magnetic flap covering the camera is meh. Nice to have but seems like a frill. The biggest drawback is no wake/sleep functionality. I don't really understand how this could have been omitted. This is a basic feature every case should have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy It seems really sturdy and I like the color a lot. It does not close magnetically, but it has a clasp. It is a bit harder than it closing by itself, which is my only minor gripe, but I think it had be that way to hold the pencil.

Its a good quality case like my 5th gen case but lacks the auto sleep/wake triggered by opening and closing the case. Yes, I have the feature turned on in settings.
