Is the music live???
I bought these headphones about 3 weeks ago and I'm going to tell you they are the best I ever had. The music is so clear and crisp you can hear the lowest instrument in any song and the surround sound is just unbelievable. I highly recommend these headphones from Sony. You will not be disappointed. And if I can suggest a song for your first play on these headphones try the band Yes.. and the song Roundabout. You will not be disappointed.

Not convinced
I have been a long-time user of the WH100XM4's, but about a month ago I decided that I wanted to upgrade to the XM6's. I'm not sure if this was wise. I'll cut to the chase; the sound quality/noise cancelling of these is amazing, however they do not look like a pair of $459.99 headphones. They look very cheap and I absolutely hate the materials that these are made of. Your hands and face better be squeaky clean, because that synthetic leather is a magnet for skin oils. If your hands are not freshly washed when you handle them, you will start leaving fingerprints all of the ear cups/body. I have the black, so I can't say how the light color will do. So, every time I handle them, I wash my hands and face. However, I still have to wipe them down after every use. The materials of the XM4's are much different and I did not have to do this all of the time. My main use for these is listening to TV/movies without disturbing others in the house. I have also noticed that split second dropouts are more frequent with these. I have them paired to a Bravia TV if you are wondering. The XM4's seemed more stable for this application. So bottom line, I don't think I will be keeping these. I ended up parting with my XM4's, but I got lucky and was able to purchase a brand-new pair from a military installation that still had quite a few available. So I would say, When the XM7's come out (and I'm sure they will at some point), put all of the latest electronics back in the body of the XM4's. Go back to using premium materials.

LE Audio? Think again. No Dongle!
I bought the WH-1000XM6 specifically for Bluetooth LE Audio with the LC3 codec
— particularly for =48kHz/24-bit bilateral mic + audio connectivity; that LE Audio w/ LC3 Codec offers.
After purchasing, I discovered that virtually nothing is compatible with it yet. Even more frustrating, Sony doesn’t include a USB dongle to actually take advantage of LE Audio on most systems. That makes one of the headline features effectively unusable for many buyers.
LE Audio is supposed to be revolutionary for wireless — especially for two-way communication. Yet in real-world use, these $460 headphones underperform my 10-year-old $45 foldable Jabra boom mic headset when it comes to call quality and reliable mic performance.
For a flagship product at this price point, that’s disappointing.
There’s also no true wired listening mode, which feels like a step backward for premium headphones. When wireless compatibility falls short, users should at least have a reliable wired fallback.
Sony used to be the gold standard — engineering first, marketing second. Now it feels like features are shipped before the ecosystem is ready, leaving customers stuck in the gap.
The fundamentals are still strong:
• Bluetooth LE Audio / LC3 Support: 0/5 (in practice)
• Noise Cancelling: 5/5
• Ease of Connection: 5/5
• App Experience: 5/5
• Sound Quality: 5/5
• Battery / Power: 4/5
This product could be incredible. But flagship features need real-world usability on day one.
Sony — don’t drift. Lead again. We know you can.

Horrible connection issues
I bought this a couple of months ago and the sound continues to cut out 24/7. I’ve put the Bluetooth connection setting on stable connection priority and it still happens. Overall a waste of a large amount of money.

Last only 1 month for me.
I bought the sonyxm6s about 3 months ago and after a couple of weeks after I bought them I started to notice that the noise cancellation was getting worse. When I did some research, mostly it was about human brain adapting to it. So I was like ok, but it’s been two weeks that when I turn them off and then on there is no difference, I hear everyone clearly and there is no difference when they are off or on. I had high expectations from these headphone. There is also creaking noise coming from the top part of the head band, which is very annoying to someone like me that walks a lot from having headphone on. I know that the sound quality is great but paying 450 for them to last about 1 month is absolutely ridiculous.

Most uncomfortable Headphones I have ever owned
Most uncomfortable Headphones I have ever owned. Noise canceling is amazing but so uncomfortable I can't even wear anymore and will have to sell and take a huge loss.
Specifically, it is the right ear cup. Left feels great but no matter what I do, the right side bothers me.

So light weight and the best
They are light weight and the noise canceling is goood!!
I was debating on getting the xm6 or apples Max headphone and glad I got these. I do wish they were louder at full volume but it’s probably safer that they are not lol. Great headphones. I’m very happy with them!

subpar sound
these headphones are not worth the money I get way better sound out of my $300 Skullcandy's the noise cancelling is ok, but I can still hear people talk and I can still hear the dogs walking around. There is no bass at all even when I go to the eq and turn everything down and the bass up there's still no bass I listen to metal and rock also some edm and these severely disappointed me. they come in a nice case and that's good because they are flimsy, I'm genuinely worried if they fell of my head, they would break right where they bend.
highly recommend something else these headphones have no life to them.

Comfortable, Stylish, and Easy to Carry
I love these headphones. They’re lightweight, compact, and very comfortable. I purchased the blue pair and really love the color. Looks great in person! The case design is much sleeker than previous models, which makes it easy to carry around. Overall, I’m very happy with the sound, design, and comfort. Definitely a great purchase.

ANC Prioritized Over Sound Quality
If your priority is noise cancelling, you can't do any better than the WH-1000XM6. However, if it's great sound you're looking for, then there are better options. FOr me, I want great sound with decent noise cancelling. Even after adjusting the EQ a number of different ways, the sound still seems veiled. I could never get the crisp sound I've been looking for. At this price, I expected better.

Great sound, bad build quality!
Sound and noise canceling is top tier, build quality though lacks. Recently replacement a pair of these headphones and the new one also makes a creaking sound everytime I place then on their case or just simple put them on my head, seems like plastics parts are loose Only on the right side though. That's too shame for such expensive premium product!! Maybe specific batch was faulty idk

Just OK
Tried these out at 3 locations. Not impressed. 30mm drivers are so 90s. We should have moved into 50-54mm drivers which sound much more alive. If you like a generic sound quality - these are for you. If you want true brightness and great lows there are far better products available for the price.

Good sound, horrible comfort
I'm big fan of Sony products.
After upgrading from my 7-year-old WH-1000XM3, I immediately noticed comfort issues with the new WH-1000XM6. The ear pads feel warmer with less ventilation, and my ears heat up far quicker than they ever did with the XM3. The fit is also too snug — the clamping force is strong enough that I get a headache after about 15 minutes. Maybe it’s because I have larger ears or wear glasses, but this was never an issue with the XM3.
The sound and ANC are phenomenal, but the overall comfort is a big step down for me, especially at this price point. I really wanted to keep the XM6, but after two weeks of regular use, the clamping force still hadn’t eased up. Honestly, I wish could just repair my XM3s. They work fine, just the headband is taped up using duct tape becuase the plastic parts have cracked and sliding adjustments for the earcups no longer stay in place.
One day, I hope Sony releases a model that returns to the comfort of the XM3/XM4s, and with a decent mic that doesn’t make you sound like you’re talking through a walkie-talkie.

Good sound quality, but loads of connection issues
Gemini said
While the sound quality on the Sony WH-1000XM6 is undeniably impressive and the noise cancellation remains top-tier, the actual user experience is marred by inexcusable technical flaws. The flagship multipoint connection feature is fundamentally broken and feels incredibly unstable during daily use. It constantly suffers from what I can only describe as connection corruption; if I am listening to audio on my computer and briefly use my phone for even a second, the sound from my computer vanishes entirely. Even more frustrating is that standard troubleshooting steps like toggling Bluetooth or manually reconnecting via the PC do absolutely nothing to restore the stream.
The only way to get the headphones to function properly again is to perform a full hardware restart of the device. Having to power cycle my headphones multiple times a day just to handle basic task-switching is a massive disruption to my workflow and simply unacceptable for a premium product. For a pair of headphones at this price point, I expected a seamless transition between devices, but instead, I’m left with a glitchy experience that feels more like a beta test than a finished consumer product. Sony needs to address these stability issues immediately, as the excellent audio doesn't make up for the constant frustration of a failing connection.

Best in class, hands down
After rave reviews, purchased the new Sony 1000XM6 - definitely a high end product in materials and quality. The case is sturdy and very portable, which I appreciate for airplane travel. The app is easy to use and functions and settings are a breeze to set up. Sound is fabulous, various EQ settings allow adjustment to personal and music tastes. Music sounds open, clear, with detailed mids and highs that are never sibilant, bass is powerful and not muddy. The headphones sit very comfortably and clamping forces are just right. ANC is simply jaw dropping! Gesture controls on the right cup are intuitive and easy, but I wish the annoying confirmation ding for volume and track selection could be switched off completely and not end at - 2, that's my only gripe, really

Very satisfied Guy! Xm6 Thumbs up!
This is my first time trying out the headphone side of things with Sony. I’ve tried the xm4 earbuds, that were ok but call quality sucked. I jumped ship and bought Bose quietcomfort earbuds when they released. I loved the Bose earbuds but they had the same issue. Terrible call quality too. I heard a lot about the xm5 headphones, right as I was about to finally purchase the xm5s the Xm6s ended up releasing so I gave them a try. I love these headphones! Great ANC and call quality finally! The sound profile is pretty good but I can’t say it’s the best I’ve heard. I can say it’s very solid and well rounded though. I wish the headphones didn’t smudge so easily tho. I have the black ones. All in all I don’t have any complaints or regrets!

Don't buy these if you plan to use them for work
Sony released an update several months ago that broke the ability to use these headphones in meetings. Any other audio that plays stops any audio/mic usage in a zoom/teams/whatsapp meeting until you reconnect them. It's been months with only no-info HR style responses. Several months without fixing a critical bug, wouldn't buy from Sony again, unfortunately they bricked my headset with this update after my return window.

Almost the best ever!(pinched by spring on hinges)
I'm including a pic so you can see how I fixed the comfort issues I was having because of the spring-loaded hinges on the ear cups. I'm really disappointed that Sony decided to reinvent instead of keep free-floating hinges on the ear cups like every other headphone out there in existence!!
Other than that glaring mishap these are the best sounding headphones out there for music... which makes it truly a shame.... hopefully with the XM7 they can return to free floating hinges and give us just a little more room to breathe in the earcups, perhaps take a lesson from Bose or Bowers bc they do it very very well.

XM6 - Best ANC headphone
Basically perfection there is no way there are better headphones than this. The only real complaint is the clamping that you initially get but it’s natural and goes away within a week. Everything else about the XM6 is worth the price and even beyond.

Would recommend
Really good sound quality and stable build with easy accessibililoty. also super portable and last a while. Probably the best wireless headphones i bought would differently recommend if you like clean audio with eq customization. They don’t have the strongest base but they still have good base

Decent sound quality, awful comfort
The XM6 has added these little springs into the hinges on the ear cuffs, presumably to keep the seal on them tight for noise cancelling I guess? But the real effect is that the cuffs constantly pinch inwards on the upper jaw, making them VERY uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Audio quality seems good enough, but don't buy these if you're going to wear them for long stretches. I bought them for work, and may have to return them.
