Not worth it
Headphones totally stopped working in a little over a year, Sony will not offer to repair or any support - they just told me to go find a headphone repair center. Google around, there are known problems with these and the software also sucks.

Love these headphones
This headphone is absolutely excellent. Very comfortable for long sessions (multiple hours). The audio is fantastic. The app provides a pletheral of features, like the equalizer. The battery is 30 hours and it charges in 30 minutes with a PD charger. The NC and ambient modes are so handy in many situations (ie. loud environment). If you are comfortable with sharing some data, you can track your usage. This headphone is truly the complete package. It is expensive, so only buy it if you'll actually use it everyday.
The only complaint I know is its inability to fold like the previous models. Harder to pack in a bag. In my opinion, not folding it reduces the odds of the hinge snapping, which the downfall of previous models. I see it as a worthy tradeoff.

Great sound quality, painful for head
I really appreciate the sound quality on these! Unfortunately, the headband starts hurting the top of my head after just one 30-minute meeting. I'm hoping the wider band on the XM4s will be less painful. Also, the ear covers hang too low on my head so they're more on my jaw and neck than my ears.

Got 2 for me and a birthday present for a friend
I bought the black one back in March and I absolutely loved it. I have the Bose 700 for 2 years but starting to wear down. The Xm5 was the best replacement however one main problem is that it get dirty very easily; fingerprints and sweat. But that just the blacks one. I just ordered the sliver for a birthday present for my friend, I know she will love it.

Pros: Comfortable, Good on ANC, High-quality audio when using wire.
Cons: Annoying touch/gesture functions, cannot use the microphone when using wire.

Best noise canceling headphone
I've used many earbuds and headphones from various brands including Bose, Bowers and Wilkins, Sennheiser and apple. So far the best noise canceling I've ever experienced is with the Sony WH-1000XMS. Excellent for travel. Amazing sound quality as well.

I purchased these for my birthday. After reading tons of reviews on the higher end phones I kept coming back to these. They did not disappoint. Fabulous sound incredibly comfortable. These are easily comparable to the Apple top of the line phones which I purchased for my son.

Great sound and noise cancelling
Great sound quality and features. Easy to use noise cancelling when not listening to music. Very comfortable. My only small complaint is that it is not easy for me to know when I have turned off the unit. No voice prompt to tell me that, which would be helpful. And it does not seem to go off automatically if I do not turn it off when I put it in its case. It does not fold up like other Sony units, but I am ok with that. It fits nicely in the case and not necessary to fold it, which can be a hassle. I recommend this great unit.

Great headphones, but...
Case is too big inconvenient to carry around. App has lots of good features but it's not intuitive and it doesn't work on PCs.....really?

Great Performance Super Sound, nice and conftable.
I love it, Great sound, the noise cancelling is not the best but it will do, but the quality across the PC, is great! I do have problems to conect with the blutooth on the PC all the time.

Great quality headphones!!!
I bought these a month ago and love them! My Beats headphones snapped trying to put them on my head and I never feel that fear when I'm about to put them on so love the design. The sound quality is really good with the exception of max volume (those around you can hear) but for your hearing, you probably shouldn't listen to anything at max volume. Since buying these I've worn them to work out, commute in, and listen to music while I work. Overall, I would recommend these to anyone looking for good noise-cancelling headphones.

Horrible. Broke twice within two years.
I bought these headphones in October of 2024. The left hinge broke in April of 2025. I got it fixed through the official repair center that Sony offers and paid 90 dollars. When I got it back from the repair center, it randomly started turning off while in use. In February of 2026 the same hinge on the same side breaks again. Its not like I'm being rough wuth my headphones. I am very careful with them. If they're so expensive, why do they break so easily? This seems to be a common issue with many people as well. This issue should definitely be addressed.

Great Sound, Decent ANC, Poor Build Quality
I bought these headphones a few days ago, and have been using them ever since. The moment I opened the box, and held the headphones, I was felt that they were quite fragile. The hinges that held the parts that covered the ears were designed to break. So, I'm quite disappointed. I just wish the ANC was more effective, it isn't good enough to mute out the noise of water boiling.

Design Flaw
I got these headphones less than a year ago and the hinges have snapped out of place on both sides of the headphones. Initially i glued the hinge back into place the first time it happened and now it had happened on the other side. Extremely upset as I paid full price and anytime i speak with anyone about repairs I am told that it does not fall under the warranty. I recommend you save yourself the time and money and invest in other headphones by other companies because this design flaw appears to be common with Sony headphones. I originally enjoyed the sound quality of the project and was certain that the headphones were the ones for me but now that this has happened to both sides and I find it it has happened to many others it makes me question my overall purchase

Poor build breaks super easy.
I bought this and as ANC headphones they are great. What's not great is the same hinge issue that has plagued this series. Hinge broke within a couple of months of purchase. Not even do to poor handling or over filding. These headphones sat on my head or desk untill they just snapped. Terrible build quality for the price. Made me not ever want to buy the product line again.

Well Worth It
I bought these headphones five years ago and they are unparalleled in quality and design. The sound quality is rich and true. The app is awesome. Well worth the money. The noise cancelling and battery life is remarkable especially on long flights.

Do Not Buy Sony
I received these headphones about 6 months ago as a gift. I absolutely loved everything about them until the hinge broke and I was then told to go pay money to fix it. It seems everywhere I look this is considered a known issue and that Sony is deciding to just ignore everyone it is happening to. This has been about the worst possible product experience I have ever had and I plan to continually tell people to avoid Sony products because of it. Quite the wild move to ruin your reputation as a company over not owning up to poorly made plastic.
