Shortness from
Do not buy unfortunately
Broke after a few months. Unfortunately i loved them so much i got a 2nd pair...and the saaaame thing happened after a few months. Warranty does not cover this, which it should because this is at the hinge area, you have to constantly move this part, especially to put them away in the case they provide. These are not inexpensive headphones but the parts they use are cheap. I have to tape mine together, i can not spend more money then I already have on new headphones in a short amount of time.

Sony ULT Wear Headphones – Known Defect, Extended
Sony ULT Wear Headphones – Known Defect, Extended Warranty… But Sony Refused the Repair
Let me explain something that makes absolutely no sense.
Sony knows the WH-ULT900N (ULT Wear) headphones have a hinge defect. The hinge where the ear cup connects to the headband cracks and breaks. It’s a widespread enough problem that Sony issued an official service notice and extended the repair coverage until January 31, 2027 for affected serial numbers.
My headphones broke exactly at that hinge.
I checked the serial number.
My serial number falls inside the affected range Sony published.
So I contacted Sony support expecting them to repair a known manufacturing defect.
Instead, they refused.
Why?
Because I don’t have a receipt.
I don’t have a receipt because I won the headphones in a raffle giveaway.
So even though:
• Sony acknowledges the defect
• Sony extended the warranty for it
• My serial number is inside the defective batch
• The headphones failed at the exact defect point
Sony still refused to repair them because I couldn’t produce proof of purchase.
That’s the part that makes zero sense.
A manufacturing defect tied to serial numbers shouldn’t depend on whether someone kept a receipt or received the product as a gift or prize.
The defect doesn’t care how the headphones were acquired.
The experience honestly made me feel like I was being treated as if I stole the product simply because I couldn’t produce paperwork.
If Sony can identify defective units by serial number, then the repair should be based on serial number — not a receipt.
Great sound quality doesn’t matter if the hinge breaks and the company refuses to fix a defect they already admitted exists.
Sony can do better than this.
