Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, Portable, and quiet These headphones produce an amazing sound. it is quite different from your run-of-the-mill over-ear headphones and certainly different from any ear buds you've ever used. The sort of surround-sound effect that a lot of artists record with these days is amplified by the quality of these headphones. They are also very comfortable. the one thing I was most worried about in purchasing some new over-ear headphones was my ears getting too warm and uncomfortable, but I have yet to have that experience with these headphones. They do have quite a bit of plastic at a few of the joints, but they are very solidly built and most areas appear to be reinforced with some sort of metal. The cord is a bit heavy and does not detach, but is certainly long enough to move around any sort of studio without any trouble. I use them at my local college radio station and they are excellent! For the price, I don't think they can be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Headphone It is very comfortable to wear, even after watching a movie for 2 1/2 hours, my ears does not feel uncomfortable. It is a perfect size for me. The sound quality is good, however, I don't know if it is my connector, but when I test it by turning the volume off, I could hear some buzzing sound. Or went the volume gets too high, there are cracking sound. It is more likely my system and not the Sony's headphone that's the cause. But I don't know much about sound equipment and setup. So I can't give a great review since I am lacking in knowledge regarding sound equipment so my opinion would be amateurish at best. However, it is hard to beat the price for a good headphone like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flat response producing excellent aural imaging. This is my second pair to be used for broadcast music production as a Jazz program host. A warhorse, though the blue "Professional" lettering has worn away, my initial pair have lasted 10+ years without the fraying or cracking of the headband. I just swapped out the leatherette ear covers for cloth. (The old ones will serve for nighttime TV listening.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A league of their own! Normally, I would write a review and list 5 things I liked, and 5 I didnt. Ending with an overall conclusion - however, for these headphones that would not be proper. Because that would exclude the main appeal of this product - the emotion it brings to your listening experience. There are a few reasons why people buy headphones. Some buy bright colorful plastic headphones with a certain letter displayed on each side - in an attempt to tell people they are hip/cool/ and probably a bit wealthy. But for people in the know, it also tells us that those people know NOTHING about sound quality. Other people, care less about designer good looks for headphones, and more about the sound quality. If you're person #1 - don't buy these. They aren't instant "street cred", nor will they make you feel like some famous football or soccer player when you're gasping for air on the treadmill at the gym. Person #2 - definitely SHOULD buy these. Here is why: First off, these headphones aren't ugly. They look professional, as in something you might find in a recording studio. They are also build quite nicely, and do not feel flimsy or cheap at all. You wouldn't know it, but Sony has been making these headphones for nearly 30 years - they originally came out in the 90's. Being studio monitors, they represent a clear and pure audio experience. This means that music will play as the artist intended it, without engineered meddling like pumping up the bass. There is a big "professional" label on each side of the headphone, and its there for a reason. Record labels around the world use these headphones in their work. These! Not Beats, Not Sol Republic, Not your Apple ear pods (thank god), these. Sound quality with these headphones is not only pure, but is above excellent. Try listening to some diverse music, something that has multiple instruments or styles within a single song - I personally like One Republic for this test. Using these headphones, you start to hear instruments you didn't before, such as a soft snare, a hum in the background, or a very quiet trumpet. Cheap headphones just can't pull that sound out, and it becomes lost to your ears. You only hear a bit of what the artist originally recorded, and that loss means everything. The best way to describe it, is that everything sounds separated yet connected at the same time - like a live concert, minus the screamers and drunks. This is not a mushed together sound, this is the thing audiophiles lust after! Yes, better headphones exist. But these are already excellent, and unless your ears are incredibly well trained - its doubtful you will notice such a significant difference that would justify the price gap - because those better headphones, will cost at least twice as much. My only complaint would the cord on these headphones is clearly meant to be plugged into recording equipment - its long and looped, and feels a bit awkward when plugged into your phone or tablet. These aren't headphones you want to walk the streets with, they are more for sitting on the couch or bed and closing your eyes and just relaxing. Or plugging them into your entertainment system for great sound for a movie without disturbing sleeping family members Note: YOU DO NOT NEED AN AMP FOR THESE. Other brands might recommend you get an amp, which makes mobile listening tedious and slightly dangerous (many people get burnt or shocked when they put their phone + amp in the pocket and the thing starts to heat up without air flow). Another thing to note, is that if you listen to low quality music - like the free streams on Rdio or Spotify, or low quality Pandora Bit rates - while it may sound fine on computer speaker, these headphones will sound terrible. Make sure you're using high bit rate (check the high quality audio box in settings for whatever music streaming service you use) to have a good experience. Locally stored, high quality , music on an ipod/tablet/pc/laptop will always sound best though. All in all - if you are looking for great sound, and a strong yet inexpensive step into being an audiophile - these are the headphones to get. Nothing else in the price range compares, and better headphones will cost AT LEAST double. Safe to say, that I personally, will always have a pair of these in my home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PRISTINE SOUND! My sound engineer brother recommended these to me, stating he's used them for years and simply replaces the ear muffs! I am able to discern instruments in years-old recordings with fresh clarity. I love them and will suggest them to others. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic For Production or Play I have used these for almost a full year. I got these headphones on sale after my previous pair of headphones stopped working. Almost immediately after I put these headphones on I noticed an impressive difference. I was able to do more in-depth audio work because of the quality. The cord has never tangled and these headphones still look as if they just came out of the box! When I am just listening to music (especially EDM) it's just ear candy. If you are a producer/audio engineer and need a decent set of headphones without breaking the bank, these are a good choice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Headphones MVP Put these headphones back in early November 2025, and I simply cannot stop using them. The sound is impeccable and the quality of the headphones themselves are some of the best that I’ve seen in ages. 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT CANS This is the 2nd set of these I've had (the other pair evolved legs). Good, solid cans. They're accurate, lightweight, and comfy as hell!! I've used and seen them used for years by many professional touring audio engineers. And...no you can't borrow them; go get your own, you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Legendary sound, but only a 90 day warranty Brilliant sound. Despite its old design, the clarity and detail of these headphones never ceases to amaze me. The materials and workmanship are very good, they are lightweight and very comfortable, with soft but durable ear pads. They fold and are easily carried. About the only drawback is the long and slightly unwieldy coiled cord, which is not replaceable. The deal breaker is the ridiculously short 90 day warranty from Sony. After about 7 months of careful use at moderate volumes, the left earpiece has a pronounced and annoying rattle and distortion from some low frequency music, so looking for a replacement and I cannot recommend them. In comparison, at least two major headphone makers feature a 2 year warranty, so caveat emptor!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hurts me melon Really uncomfortable. I can only wear these for an hour at most, and that's with adjusting position every 15 mins. The headband literally is just hard plastic covered in leather, why did I think it would be soft? Lol. The ear pads are okay, but they're basically on-ears unless, I suppose, you have extremely small and flat ears. So that's uncomfortable for me too, squishin' my big ears. They sound fine but the clarity honestly kinda sucks compared to my DT770s, which are also vastly superior in comfort, as I can wear them literally all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its From Sony...What else do you need to know?! My family has always been a Sony family. From Vintage Audio equipment to over the shoulder beach CD players to TV's. Sony has been a constant in my family and my life. As a young father starting his family I really wanted to connect to music again. Ive known about the Sony MDR-7506's for a long time. They have been the indusrty standard for decades. From Podcasts to Music Label Sound engineers they have been the go to headset and for reason. I purchased these about a month ago and got my self a DAC AMP combo. I thought I was a music head and audiophile before but I was kidding myself. I can honestly say that the Sony MDR-7506 have brought me so much joy and happiness when it comes to listiening to music. I have played songs that Ive known for years but on the 7506's...its just such an amazing, detailed and enjoyable experience. So to anyone wondering about pulling the trigger on these...I say DO IT. Its Sony...What else do you need to know? Sony I love you! youve been part of my life since I was born lol If you love me as much as I love you...Send me Some MDR-CD900ST's so I can enjoy those too!
