Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design I am so happy about the product, it works perfectly. I can change the amount of light, but I still struggle to adjust the remote.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More durable but functionally downgrade from V1 I also have Sony HVL-F60RM version 1. That flash unit is constantly attached to my A1 and I have been using it for almost a year now. Within the span of a year however, my Sony HVL-F60RM version 1 went in for warranty service twice already because of the foot of the flash unit breaking. More specifically, two tiny screws holding the metal plate on the foot of the flash unit become loose because the plastic part holding the screws wear out over time. Most users have tendency to hold their camera by the accessory that is mounted on the hotshoe especially when the accessory is big and bulky. Sony HVL-F60RM version 1 simply cannot hold the weight of the full frame mirrorless camera if the users hold their gear by the flash unit that is mounted on the camera. This is a huge design flaw by the Sony engineers and that is why my flash unit went into service twice for the same problems already. Thankfully Sony HVL-F60RM version 2 seems to have made some improvements on the flawed design from version 1. First, the foot of the flash unit is weather sealed. Also the screws holding the metal plate on the foot of the flash unit seem to be more heavy duty in addition to having slight design change. I haven’t had a chance to use the version 2 more extensively to confirm that the problems from version 1 have been completely mitigated or not. However, I am assuming that the foot of the version 2’s flash unit is at least more durable than the version 1. In terms of functionality, everything is pretty much the same as far as I can tell except for the very obvious difference between the version 1 and version 2. Sony HVL-F60RM2 does not have led lights on the flash unit which can be handy for video. This is a huge let down for people who do Vlogging as that led light can be quite handy. Version 2 is slightly cheaper than the version 1 so maybe some people might be ok. However, I tend to use more of the version 1 than version 2 because of the versatility of being able to use the LED lights for video. So in my opinion both version 1 and version 2 are not perfect. If I had to choose, I would buy the version 1 but as mentioned, durability of the version 1 is a huge problem thanks to Sony’s design flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I bought this a month ago and is happy to it. However, when shooting using wide angle lens, the light intensive seems not enough (not far par, but also central part).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great solidly built flash gun Excellent, sturdy and confidence inspiring flash. It is large and heavy, not ideal for compact Sony cameras, but it is powerful and feature rich. Wireless features are excellent, but I have used other makes with more user friendly disposition. I don't know why but very often I feel, while using Sony photographic equipment, as it was not designed by photographers. Nevertheless, once you set up the flash in tandem with other off-camera flashes wirelessly, it performs flawlessly. Extremely accurate light measuring in coordination with auto focusing in all AF modes, as far as I can tell. I particularly like the rotating head of this flash.
